Diner Reviews
  • "We took our foodie teenage son to dinner here to celebrate an excellent report card and it exceeded my expectations! Barbara gave us the relaxed service we were looking for so that we could really enjoy each course. I wanted to have the pork chop again the next day...problem was...I didn't have leftovers. I have been to Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen so I should have known how awesome this would be. I would recommend and go there again the next chance I get!"

  • "Great Food as expected since we yelped and the reviews were great. Waited a long time with reservation but got complimentary appetizer and the waiter was super friendly. In general, will highly recommend for first-time Napa visitors."

  • "Such an easy drive from Walnut Creek to Mustards! All three of us ordered the tamales, tostado (yum!) and we shared the amazing onion rings. We loved everything from the "will do anything for you hostesses" to the waiters anderson specially the food."

  • "Outstanding food. Everything we had was delicious. My ribeye was one of the best steaks I've had. Paired it with a cab flight. The lemon tart was unique with the brown sugar meringue. A must. The wine list is a binder of options! Service was outstanding. However, the noise level was high. Will definitely recommend to friends."

  • "We made a last minute reservation for lunch and so glad that we did! Seafood tostada and barbecue pork sandwich were unbelievably delicious. Great service, too!"

  • "We make an annual trip to Napa and with many restaurants to choose from, we always go back to Mustards. The food is outstanding, service is friendly and the wine is always good. Not to mention the beautiful gardens and setting."

  • "I love the specials but everything on the menu is great."

  • "The host was rushed and oblivious. We checked in and shooed us to the bar. After 10 minutes we found 2 seats together so we stayed and dined there. The bartender who served us was phenomenal. The hostess after we told her we were staying at the bar, said out loud later, where is that stupid 4:00 reservation? (That was us) no clue, even after we reached out twice to her... Good luck, guess you don't need to make it personal anymore when you're that successful."

  • "Second trip to Napa and second trip to Mustards. Was even better than remembered. I had the most delicious chicken while my dining partner had "the best fish" he's had in months. We ate at Mustards on our last night in Napa and only wished we had dined there on another evening. Wonderful!"

  • "Had lunch here on the weekend based on many good reviews and a recommendation from a family member. Not sure what all the hype is about. This restaurant is good, not great. Service was adequate. Stressed out hostess and our waiter forgot to put in our order. He was nice enough to offer us an appetizer on the house while we waited but nevertheless, quite disappointing. I had the ribs which were ok. They came with cheese/jalapeno sticks that was overcooked and as such I had to ask for new ones. So, what is all the hype about anyway??"

  • "Great food. We had rabbit and Halibut. It was great."

  • "Loved the Maytag salad, soft tamale appetizer, shared ribeye, and chocolate hazelnut, caramel tort. Loved the beer - new to me, a Louisiana white pils. Hated the fact that no one intervened to quiet the yelling, whining, crying teenager at the next table... Not the parents, not the waitstaff. When I pay over $50 per person, I think ambience ought to be part of the package."

  • "I travel 3,000 miles, every year, to indulge in the Mongolian Porkchop, red cabbage and mashed potatoes."

  • "We always enjoy Mustards. Food is always very good. The service was exceptional this time. The mushroom and spinach burger was amazing. We'll be back!"

  • "The food was under par and the presentation was terrible. I ordered the sesame noodle Asian chicken salad which was served in a small plain soup bowl. The chicken was over done and very dry."

  • "Special stop on our way from Tahoe to Pebble Beach. We dined here several years ago and decided to spend a night in Napa and dine at Mustards. Was not disappointed. Great food, hospitality and service. This was out 31st anniversary and it was a great way to celebrate."

  • "When people heard we were going to Napa, the first thing they said was that we have to eat at Mustards. We did and wish we didn't waste the money. I ordered the ribs which were awful. There was barely any meat on the bones and they were dried out and tough. My husband had the pork chop and said it was good but not worth the price. The ribs I got definitely weren't worth $25. Service was great though which is a shame. Bill was around $80 for us both, no alcohol. The night before we ate at a diner which was more memorable and had better quality food."

  • "Don't get me wrong food was good but not fabulous. Our waitress was less then enthusiastic and it was very loud. Good atmosphere but do not recommend for a quiet romantic date. We were expecting more of a foodie experience but it was not the hype we heard it to be."

  • "This was our last restaurant on a 7 day food and wine feast. Our server was great and knowledgable, and guided us towards menu selections that were perfect. I had the skirt steak with fries, my date had the salmon special and both were delicious. I had an entire plate of padron peppers as an appetizer and those were great too. And then, the lemon lime tart with the ridiculous meringue for dessert. It's a vibrant restaurant, and we will come back for sure."

  • "We made it a point to visit your restaurant as it was highly recommended to us. It did not disappoint. The service was excellent and the food was even better. The Swordfish Tostada was perfection! It was piled high and I could eat it every night."

  • "I've been coming to this place for years and it never disappoints. The food and service are spectacular. This time I was there for lunch and had the best bloody mary I've ever had along with the crab cakes. My friends had the ahi sandwich, chicken sandwich and the shrimp on grits special. They were all pleased. It's an institution."

  • "Were seated on-time for Saturday lunch, great service, changing menu keeps it interesting. Always a great place, we even remarked, how do they keep such a consistently positive experience going for so long. Service is informed and just right. Obviously one of our favoretes."

  • "Good food. Over-priced wine list. Noisey & loud, impossible to talk with companions. A poor choice for our group, who had not seen eachother for many, many years."

  • "My friend and I were in the Wine Country to attend an all day class at CIA. We both love to cook and received a recommendation to go to Mustard's Grill. We are very happy that we took the time to eat there....delicious food, lovely surroundings, and Alice, our server, was lovely and fun. We both had the pork chop and treated ourselves to some fabulous desserts, especially the brown sugar meringue pie!!!! Everything was great and we enjoyed wandering through the garden at sunset!!!"

  • "Nothing but outstanding here. Took a walk through their garden before we ate. Service was friendly and informative. Food spectacular. Had the tamale and fish tortas. No room for dessert , but it looked great. Will be back next trip!"

  • "Great wine list. Probably about fifty to sixty wines by the glass and a great list by the bottle. Very casual fine dinning. The food is very good and is priced appropriately for what you receive."

  • "Mustards is a staple for every trip we take to Napa.. we ordered the fish tostada with fried halibut and the the lamb burger. Absolutely wonderful. Great service as well.."

  • "The Halibut, hamburger and deserts were great. the tostada and the lamb were average at best . I have found them this way in the past."

  • "Came here on a few recommendations, and had high expectations. Found it to be just o.k. First problem... Our wine didn't arrive until after the main course. My Thai chicken salad was a bit overdressed. Maybe better luck with other entrees? Nice ambiance though, as well as the gorgeous garden outside!"

  • "Still nice place to go after a day of dine tasting. However, it is not what it used to be. Two o'clock reservations for lunch and had to wait in excess of 20 minutes past the reservation time to be seated. Booking to short on their times? Two water glasses had to be returned. One for food on it and the other for a hair in it. Waiter was attentive and by the look on his face, ours was not the first glassware or items that had been sent back that day for lack of cleanliness. Food was good good but not spectacular. As my wife was coming out of the restroom, a member of the staff was walking by and pushed the door she was opening back hard, almost hitting her in the face. He made some type of half grunting apology. Many other good choices"

  • "We had a very poor server. It was like we were bothering her to be there. They were out of Jack Daniels and several menu items. Anytime we asked a question our waitress was looking at other tables as if she had other people to tend to. Having said that, we decided to wait until the food started to come out before complaining. Everything changed after that. All of the items we ordered were fantastic! Everything from the appetizers to the desert are spot on! We ended up having a good experience rather than a terrible one. I did enjoy the wine list. This was expensive but not overpriced."

  • "We went here on suggestion from my Aunt. It was wonderful. Everything was cooked perfectly, tasted wonderful and very unique. Every course was yummy and had beautiful presentation. Definitely try the pork chop!"
