Diner Reviews
  • "This is my wife and my dining out spot for special occasion and a night at the ballet. Wonderful ford and great service!"

  • "The food and wait staff at the Cafe are always great and this time was no exception. I enjoy the wine list which is fairly extensive. There are a number of wines at good price points; however, this is the second time I had to work my way through more than one choice on the white list to get to one that was cooled and ready to serve. The manager, Jesse, is great to work with but it is disappointing to find and select a wine to be told it is not ready."

  • "Booking the reservation via Open Table was so easy and I appreciated the e-mail confirmations. We were meeting at the Museum Café for dinner prior to a show at the Civic Center. The menu has a nice selection and our waiter made us feel comfortable with the question about splitting a salad among two people. This was a special night for us and the atmosphere, presentation & quality of the food met our expectations for a nice evening. We had a 6pm reservation and the performance started at 7:30pm. We had plenty of time to talk and enjoy our dinner and not fee rushed to make show time. I recommend the Museum Café."

  • "Food and service are great. Good location. We park and walk to the restaurant and then to Civic Center Theater. No need to move the car."

  • "Food is unique and delicious! If you are tired of the same ol' big and heavy food, this is a must try restaurant! I had fried green tomatoes and lobster bisque soup. The chef has done an amazing job with this menu."

  • "The St. Germain Cocktail was perfect, the house salad light and scrumptious, and the quinoa with roasted eggplant delightful. Unfortunately, the service was not up to par for a restaurant of this caliber. I have eaten here many times and usually the service is okay. Often, the wait staff is at your table constantly while you are eating and visiting but when it's time for them to take the check, they disappear."

  • "All my friends had hyped this place up for me as far as food. Maybe they had only eaten brunch there? But the flavors were lackluster. The service was great, though. Very nice people. Maybe I have to go back for their brunch."

  • "The Hostess was particularly friendly, helpful and attentive. We've been here before and it has always proved to be a very nice experience......... Stephen & Sally Haggard Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 692-8797"

  • "I made reservations a month in advance, noting that I was vegan bringing a non-vegan guest. They have a vegetable plate entree on the menu, but the risotto is only vegetarian. The purpose of making a reservation was to make them aware of my veganism in hopes they'd plan at least a tweaked entree. Instead I had to just sub quinoa for the risotto - leading to two servings on quinoa. Delicious, but not quite the response I anticipate when there's a chef on staff. I'd like to see a vegan menu like a few other "upscale" restaurants in the OKC area have developed."

  • "Good variety of menu options. Sensitive to getting you out the door if you have an event to attend. Ambiance is good as well. Will definitely go back!"

  • "The Museum Cafe is one of my favorite places to dine when one wishes to have conversation and fine food. We celebrated my father's birthday and toured the current museum exhibit. The waitress was savvy and kept the birthday quiet (no singing here!) but made certain my father had his choice of desserts on the house. Food was delicious and generous portions. Atmosphere classy but not fussy."

  • "I ate here only out of convenience as I was doing a photo shoot on the rooftop an hour later. It is always my experience the food and service is fairly atrocious, but I was starving. The service actually wasn't awful, though the food was slow to come. The salmon I ordered was the texture of a hockey puck. So overcooked and dry. Seasoning was nonexistent. The curry sauce was decent, though there was only a teaspoon on the plate."

  • "Great food, we had steak and tilapia, red wine, vodka martini, no dessert. Food was prepared very well, slow to offer us a wine list or serve ordered wine. Special was described well. A bit noisy, may not be the best place for a first date but otherwise bearable."

  • "We are always pleased with the food and service at the Museum Café. On this occasion, the swordfish special was especially delicious and well presented. Others at our table were delighted with their entrées as well - halibut, tilapia, pork tenderloin."

  • "Went to celebrate my birthday and the waitress could care less! Another lady celebrating got a candle with cookie and ice cream. I didn't even get a smile. Kinda set the atmosphere for the entire meal. Apparently, she doesn't like her job I guess. She was very unpleasant and aside from taking orders, didn't even speak to us. I have never had that kind of experience there and have been to the Museum Cafe many times. Wishing I hadn't picked it for my special day. Food was good though and it's a lovely place."

  • "A few friends wanted to get together and include a friend in a wheelchair. We made the request thru open table and they had us set up near the handicap entrance. The food was great and the server helped us in a very friendly manner. We really liked the menu choices and variety. The quiche was outstanding."

  • "The food vas very good and the people were friendly. However, when they were seating us at our table a roach crawled across the table. The hostess grabbed at it but it was gone. Seconds later, A wait person standing there had to grab the roach as it was now crawling on my wife. My wife as always was very cordial and just laughed it off. It was our 10th wedding anniversary and I didn't want to upset my wife so I let it slide. Fortunately when the roach or another one crawled across the table for a second time my wife was looking away and didn't see it. Needless to say, I was mortified at the whole situation. In my 58 years, it was the first time I had actually seen a roach in a restaurant much less crawling across my table!!"

  • "This was my second time at meuseum cafe and it was better than the first. Our tuna tartare to start was delectable, along with their caviar topped lobster bisque, which is one of my all time favorites. Our server was knowledgeable and Reccommended great wines and drinks for our party of 5. We ordered scallops, the tilapia, halibut and the pork porterhouse, which all were great. The tilapia was a little dry and over cooked, but it is a thin fish. The accompaniments with the proteins were also fabulous, especially the risotto and polenta. Creme brûlée is a must to end the meal. This is a great spot before the show if you are willing to be patient. Great date night spot as well as a spot to share with friends!"

  • "We had made a reservation since we planned to dine there following a movie in the Museum. There was no Hostess to be found when we arrived. Finally, a waitress from the bar area seated us at a table. We waited for the table to be setup and the same waitress from the bar brought our tableware. Still no hostess and no waiter. I finally went to pick up menus since none had been given to us. We waited approx. ten more minutes for waitress and water. The hostess finally showed up about 20 min after we had seated ourselves. Apparently, my husband's order was mistakenly taken to another table so they had to cook my husband's order again. In the meantime, my omelet sat under a heat lamp and the outside of the omelet was all dried out."

  • "Made a reservation here for brunch after looking over the menu. We arrived early for our reservation but we're seated right away. However it took about 10 minutes for us to have a waiter even take our drink order. We eventually had to flag one down and he said he would take care of us- then after he walked away a co-worker asked him loudly why he thought our table wasn't in his section. The food was ok- not bad, but not great. After we got our food and needed some condiments we had to flag down another server to find our server to ask for condiments."

  • "It was Valentine's Day, so it was a fixed 6 course menu. Each course was wonderful and interesting. We will definitely be returning."

  • "Wonderfully convenient dining. Beautiful view and artwork. Service is nearly nonexistent (other than the water guy who did his job). Our waitress never checked on us one time the entire meal. The food was fair, nothing special but better than our last brunch there. The "cafe swizzle" cocktail was really good so maybe go for a drink at the bar?"

  • "I was pleased with the atmosphere. I called ahead to notify that I would be running late, and that wasn't a problem. Very prompt, courteous, and engaging. I was very happy with my first time, and the pricing was not bad at all."

  • "After seeing 'Beauty & The Beast,' we weren't sure if we enjoyed the show more, or the lunch."

  • "Our food was terrible-overcooked. Our server, Savanah, wasn't responsive, either. We had to ask another server if she could bring us more coffee. At the end, instead of asking if we wanted anything else or wanted more coffee, Savanah just left us the bill. We did complain to her about the food, though, and she told the manager. The manager was very nice about it and apologized. And, even though there were several tables that weren't being used, we were placed next to the bar which was very noisy. We've eaten here a few times previously so we were surprised by the quality of the food and service this time. It wasn't even during the busy time, either."

  • "My wife and I visited the Museum Café on Valentine's with high hopes due to word of moth experiences. We were not disappointed. This was our first visit, and most definitely will not be our last. Running around the perimeter of the building with full sized glass windows allows for a wonderful view of the Civic Center and some of the greenery in the area. (especially once construction is finished). It also has a nice view of Devon tower at night which adds to the ambience. We cannot attest to the regular menu as this was our first dining experience there and Valentine's dinner was a special 6-course menu at a set price. The food, service, and ambience were all spot-on for a special occasion. Pricey, but not for this caliber food."

  • "With the except of a slight 'delay in service' while first seated at the bar, the evening was great. Once we got to our table our waiter was in every sense of the word 'professional'. The fried green tomatoes made an outstanding appetizer. My date's Rib Eye was prepared exact to order and was flavorful, tender and more than ample in size. I had the Sea Scallops which were delightful, perfectly accompanied, and the ideal order size. Desert was a birthday candle topped complimentary scoop of ice cream with fresh berries. Looking out through the café windows at a beautifully lit downtown Oklahoma City, including the rise of the Devon tower. The only thing negative about dining here is the parking situation, they should offer valet."

  • "We had reservations for a late lunch and were seated immediately upon arrival even though all of our party had not arrived. The food was served quickly and was very good. Service was cheerful and prompt. We have never been disappointed and fine at the Museum Cafe several times a year."

  • "I went to the Museum Cafe for my birthday for dinner at 5:00pm. I got the halibut, and it was as tough as my husbands New York Strip. The mashed potatoes looked watery and had no flavor or seasonings. My husband said his steak was very dry and his potatoes were like mine- terrible. I mentioned this to my waitress and she said she would tell the chef, that was all she offered. My husband reminded me that the food was not good the last time we ate there. I had forgotten since it has been a few years. I won't forget again, for a very pricey place, the food is like a hospital cafeteria. I won't eat there again."

  • "How was the Museum Cafe dining experience? In a word 'perfect'. The atmosphere manages to be both very classy while being very warm and inviting. The food is great, but the service is even better. I HIGHLY recommend the Museum Cafe to anyone who has not yet tried it. You will be pleasantly surprised."

  • "This is the cafe next to the theater at the Oklahoma City Art Museum. It has great ambiance and great views. The food was good, but a little pricey. We hit the evening just at their busiest time, but they did a pretty good job taking care of us. For a special event or for the convenience next to the museum or film, it's a good choice. There are so many great places downtown and mid-town, that are more moderately priced, that it's just as easy to patronize them. There was nothing wrong with our meal, and our service was good, there is just as good food and service nearby at a more moderate price."

  • "As always, the Cafe does not disappoint in its service, food, and atmosphere. I ordered the grill salmon for lunch and my friend the Hot Italian Sandwich. Our food was fantastic, and the carrot cake was simply amazing."

  • "Our recent evening at the Museum Cafe at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art to celebrate my wife's birthday before seeing a movie in the museum theater was very enjoyable and lived up to my expectations for this consistently excellent restaurant. We have been dining at the Museum Cafe almost since it opened; it was good then and has gotten even better over the years. Since the portions are very generous we shared an appetizer, a salad and an entree (venison). My wife also had dessert at no charge. The food was uniformly excellent - well prepared and nicely presented. The service was excellent and responsive to our requests, even dividing the salad and entrees in the kitchen at no extra charge. The wine list is outstanding."

Our compliments to the chef - brunch was delicious and healthy. Fruit was fresh. Brunch potatoes delicious. Fantastic omelet. But those muffins... Overall, a delightful and filling experience! Thank you."

  • "We were prepared to order the tenderloin of venison but were told it had been taken off the menu because of availability. Elk had replaced the venison so we decided to try it. Oh my gosh, it was served over a walnut risotto and the meat was so tender and flavorful. Their fried green tomatoes are an excellent choice for an appetizer. Apple pie was a tasty way to end the evening. the food is always good, but this was the best meal I've had here in a long time."
