A word from Muse Restaurant - Oxford
Muse began as a dream to bring Philadelphia to Chester County. Muse is a BYO that merges the country with the city. "Amuse bouche" or amusement of the mouth was the inspiration for the farm-to-table bistro that uses seasonal produce and ingredients. Relax in a chic urban decor, and expect a menu that will continue to surprise you.

So disappointed after a fantastic meal and experience the first time we went. Food bland and took almost an hour to receive. Terrible service. It wasn't remotely crowded. Not sure what's changed since our last time but we will stick to our standby byob in the future (twelves)

This is normally a great little restaurant. The calamari appetizer was great but the pasta was disappointing, almost no sauce so a pricy choice for just linguine noodles. Also there was not enough olive oil for 4 frm the get go. The seating was tight too.

  • This was my second visit.
    OpenTable Diner Since 2011

This was my second visit. The first visit was on the date of their year anniversary. That night the food was amazing! When I returned I expected amazing again, but it just wasn't quite on the mark. I even had the same entree. It was completely different, and not even close to amazing. If it wasn't for the fact that my 2 dining companions had better fare than mine, I would have rated them lower. MY appetizer, mushroom phyllo triangles, was tasty, a shared desert, creme brûlée, lovely. The meal was solidly good, very edible, some things a little better than good, but it wasn't amazing, and since it's presenting itself as an upscale dining experience for foodies, I have to disagree. Everyone can have a night off, and maybe this was theirs.

Another great experience at Muse. The petite filet is a new fav, perfect size meal for midweek. The farm salad is always new fresh and interesting. This week apples and goat cheese. Last week blueberries. Always fun and delicious. My husband loves the seasonal soups.

The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant. The menu was interesting and the food was expertly prepared and presented. I had the crab cake trio, which was very tasty; my husband had the 14-oz steak, which he enjoyed thoroughly. Muse is a BYOB restaurant, which is always nice. We will definitely go there again.

  • THE PLACE IS NICELY DECORATED
    DeezerVIP
    Dined on 10/6/2012
THE PLACE IS NICELY DECORATED BUT THE CHAIRS ARE UNCOMFORTABLE. THE MENU HAS WHAT APPEARS TO BE TASTY SELECTIONS BUT INSTEAD MOST ITEMS LACKED FLAVOR. THE BEST ITEM ON THE MENU WAS THE MUSHROOM PHYLLO APPETIZER, THE MAC AND CHEESE WAS BLAND AND THE CALAMARI WAS OVER FRIED AND THE SAUCE WAS NOT DISERNABLE. THE CRAB CAKES WERE THE SIZE OF 50 CENT PIECES AND YOU GOT THREE FOR $28.00 AND THERE WAS ALOT IF FILLER, THE SCALLOPS WERE THE BEST ITEM ON THE DINNER MENU FOR $27.00. STAY AWAY FROM THE EGGPLANT WHICH CAME OUT OVER FRIED WITH A DARK MARROON SAUCE ON IT THAT WAS OVER COOKED. THE SALMON WAS TASTELESS. WE WOULD NOT GO BACK.

The Muse has excellent food with a feel of being in the city. This was my second visit in as many weeks and already planning another. BYOB and great food in an atmosphere that is comfortable and enjoyable. Both visits so far have been without children, and I probably wouldn't take mine to the Muse. Has an adults only feel to me. Hope they do well for years to come!

A great addition to the farm to table restaurants in the Brandywine Valley vicinity. The food was excellent and presented very well. We were very pleased with the selections from the additions to the regular menu. Service was efficient and friendly. The modern decor contrasts sharply with many of the more traditional settings in restaurants. Quite reasonably priced for the quality of the food. BYOB is a big plus. I look forward to returning to sample the ever changing menu according to what ingredients are in season.

Unless you live within five minutes of this restaurant it is not worth the effort of going out of your way to dine here. Our reservations were for 6:30 and we were seated promptly. THe menu had only 6 entrees and I ordered the Halibut and was told they were out. WHen there are only 6 entrees there is no excuse to be out of one of then at the beginning of the service. Our meals were good but over priced for the size of the meal. They had four things on the dessert menu and we were told that they were out of one of those also. One appetizer, two entrees, one dessert and one coffee $90. Eating at the Palm in Philly with drinks is only $110 and you have great food, great service, and buy your own drinks. Going back to Philly

We went for a late Sunday brunch. First impressions: Friendly welcome, attractive contemporary decor and ambiance. Limited breakfast / brunch menu but very high quality and well presented. Service was delightful and friendly but inexperienced (mix up over sides). Great for a relaxed and leisurely Sunday lunch in a rural market town. A pleasant oasis, and well worth the short detour from the traffic of US 1.

I expected great things from this restaurant after reading all of the positive reviews. I went with a group of 6 on a Friday night. First impressions were great, loved that it was a BYO. Then it took almost 40 minutes for our apps to come out, and the "pasta purses" we were so looking forward to were cold and the cheese inside very runny (looked like water had mixed with the cheese inside). It wasn't very crowded either. Then another 30 minutes for our entrees to come out. This time, the halibut did not dissapoint, but no apology from our waiter for the wait, nor an explaination (did something happen in the kitchen to create a backup?). I would possibly come back, but would allow a full 2 hours to eat and be ready to wait.

We recently had our first opportunity to visit Muse for Sunday brunch. We are big Muse dinner fans. Brunch did not disappoint. My husband chose the sausage gravy. I chose an omelet with my choice of fresh local ingredients. Both were exceptional. This place is truly a neighborhood gem and the chef imaginative and talented.

Muse is a delicious surprise in rural Oxford, PA. Don't be surprised if you see a horse and buggy go by as you are enjoying your home made sherbert course, or delectable organic farm inspired dishes. Remember you are in the heart of farm land where fresh is first. We brought some smooth Rose Wines that went great with every course. The peach cobbler, made from NJ peaches was yummy.

Entertainment for the palate! A very pleasant surprise with great food quality and meticulous plating. Our server was very helpful in walking us through the menu since it was our first visit to Muse. The restaurant is BYOB, so bring your favorite red and white. A bit dark in some sections of the dining area, so ask for a table closer to the wall-mounted lights if you visit Muse after dusk.

First visit to Muse. All courses we had were excellent. The pulled pork mac and cheese appetizer was very good as was the goatcheese and mushroom plate. Crab cakes were nicely prepared (no fillers) and the remoulade paired nicely. The tea-infused creme brulee was tasty and nice end to the meal. Wait staff is attentive and friendly. Our server Chelsea was delightful. Understated atmsophere. Only complaint as others have noted...the chairs are a tad uncomfortable. Overall well worth a visit.
