Muse RestaurantGreat food, accommodating staffWent to Muse after going to Threshold theater. We got to Muse early and even though we were early AND had added two people to our party, they seated us without complaint. There were finally nine of us in all and we enjoyed our appetizers, entres and dessert. We had shellfish, pastas, chicken, and I noticed all the plates were empty when they were removed. My only negative comment is that they served our $12/glass wine in the wrong glasses. I've been living in the north for 40 years now and recently went back for a visit - as a tourist. I found this restaurant on google earth as it was only a block away from where we were staying. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The place itself is charming, as if you are in Europe. The service was impeccable - the waitress we had was extremely knowledgeable and had recently been abroad working in a winery. The food was delicious (of course being in Charleston we had the fish) and perfectly prepared and presented. And the other people in the small room where we sat were friendly. There were four of us, recently, and everyone of us was absolutely pleased with our choices...watermelon salad, shrimp and pasta, lamb, fresh fish, decadent chocolate dessert that we shared. We sat outside, on the enclosed patio and the ambiance was wonderful! Our waiter was helpful and attentive even though the restaurant was fairly busy. We have been to Charleston many times but this restaurant was by far one of the best dining experiences we have had in that city, from the appetizers to the desserts.

The hit of the night was the crispy kale salad. All entrees were delicious. Two had the catch of the day and ate every bite. There was disappointment that swordfish was not on the menu, but we all left well fed and happy. That might have been because we had the chocolate tort and the gelato for dessert.
Our party was allowed to split the kale salad. That was so very nice. I would hope all restaurants in your group allow the spitting of salads, entree's, etc. In this world of obesity, no one needs to eat all of the generous servings. HOWEVER, had it been just my girlfriend and I, I would have requested the outside balcony on the 2nd floor. It's a small porch that will only fit 2 people at the small table, but is perfectly romantic on a pleasant night. Seriously, if you're trying to impress your lady... this is the place.
Food was great also... Every one of our group loved their dish. I had roasted lamb on a pumpkin puree bed... And the Gnudi (very similar to gnocchi) that my girlfriend got was delicious too.

We had tickets to a Play two doors down and found the restaurant advertised when purchasing the tickets online. The atmosphere was Romantic. The occassion was "date night" with my Husband. After the "Play" we returned to the restaurant (to see the cast) and to top the night off. This time, we took a tour "upstairs" of this converted house. They offer a Mediterranean flavor and rock it. The wait staff describes every dish as if they were preparing it themselves. The Wine list is simple but impressive and they offer wines you can't find in town. Needless to say, I won't walk pass again.
