Murray's Restaurant & Cocktail LoungeEverything about this restaurantEverything about this restaurant is top notch, truly an amazing experience and well worth every dollar spent.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMClassicMurray's is a classic old steakhouse without a stuffy feel. The food was good but the seasoning was too much. The bread in was too salty and buttery and the mashed potatoes had way too much pepper in them. Glad we went for the experience but probably won't be back anytime soon.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated our 25th WeddingWe celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary there. The Butter Knife Steak Dinner for 2 is to die for!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AMbest steaks in townArguably the best steak meal in the twin cities. Service was good.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMLives up to reputation! My brother & I took our parents to Murray's to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary and they did not disappoint! Great ambience, amazing service, and phenomenal food!!! Murray's very much lives up to the well earned reputation they have. It may have been our first trip to Murray's but it will definitely not be our last! Superb!!!5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMI thought Murray's was amazing.I thought Murray's was amazing. Good was superb. Service was excellent.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary Dinner-27 years! Our table was near the back where they came out of the kitchen with the food. The staff would stand back there and talk. That was noisy and distracting. The food was EXCELLENT! We had the Butter knife steak for two. Our waiter was EXCELLENT! The other wait staff were very attentive. We were surprised with a complimentary brownie ice cream dessert with lighted candle. It was very special. The french onion was great and so were those little crunch garlic cheese breads that we were served right away. It was so nice to be at a restaurant that is not a bar and grill type. It was very upscale. The valet parking was nice to have. Only $8. I'd pay that anytime-better than parking in the ramp and having to walk.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMWe love Murrays! Our birthdays are 6 mos apart and we take each other there to celebrate. The butter-knife steak is the best! And the meal isn't complete without the melt-in-your- mouth garlic bread.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMThe garden saladI did not like the unusual lettuce leaves in the salad. If it would have used them as a minor ingredient it would have been fine, but some regular bib or romaine would have been good. It was kind of like eating grass. We enjoyed Dennis and his service.4/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food and atmosphere.Amazing food and atmosphere. Perfect for a special occasion or just a romantic evening.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was our first time to Murray'sIt was our first time to Murray's and we were just blown away! The food was AMAZING and our server was fabulous! Very knowledgeable and paitent with us! OVerall it was a GREAT experience!!!!4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for our aniversaryWe went for our aniversary - husband had never been there- would certainly go back for special occassions. We can't aford this type of dining on regular basis, but would go back again as the pocket book allows.
Waitress couldn't have been nicer as was all the staff including the valet, which we used. Such a convenience for the downtown area.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMurray's has never disappointedMurray's has never disappointed us! Love the butter knife steak for two and the bone in ribeye when they have it!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMMEAT !!! (gotta have it !!!)It is slightly expensive BUT a wonderful evening. And actually I was pleased with the wine by the bottle prices. The thing that I was disappointed about (as I remember it from years ago) was the bread basket. We had a group of 4 and there was one pretzel roll-one rye roll and the rest the salty garlic bread. Seems that there should have been at least 2 of each roll so that each couple could share. TRULY though it was a delightful and DELISH meal !!! Silver Butter Knife steak certainly did NOT dissappoint!!!
ALSO....love the fact that the servers are so knowledgeable about their product and enthusiastic about their restaurant.
Overall a wonderful dinner and evening !
MANY THANKS !!!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGoing to Murray's for us isGoing to Murray's for us is a special event. This was the case for us on Sunday evening. Everyone from the valet that took the car to the bus boy that kept table clear made us feel welcome. The food was fantastic and the only drawback was one loud patron that seemed full of both the martini's he was drinking and himself. We will always go back for that special feeling. We love Murray's!!!4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMurray's rocks!Murray's is by far the best steak house in Minneapolis...love the Silver Butterknife steak! The service is outstanding, and the ambiance is lovely. We've been many times, and will return many more. Thank you!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent choice for businessexcellent choice for business lunch....not noisy, not trendy, I chose this restaurant for it's casual elegance, excellent cuisine and service.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service was amazing. The service was amazing. They were very accommodating our late arrival. Food outstanding.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBrought friends who haven'tBrought friends who haven't been to Murray's before and they loved it and, in fact, she is going to book a reservation for a group coming to town for a business meeting.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMI was expecting a lot of olderI was expecting a lot of older people at this iconic spot but was pleasantly surprised to find a younger, hip dining crowd. Expect "very large" portions. This place is for serious carnivores.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMour butter knife steak forour butter knife steak for two was excellent. expensive but worth it!4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMWe like to go to Murrays forWe like to go to Murrays for special occassions. The restaurant and staff makes you feel like you are special and takes care of you accordingly. The food and wine are wonderful and the staff is very attentive but not too much so.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMToo much saltOur silver butterknife steak was cooked perfectly but was seasoned so heavily that it nearly ruined the meat. It was VERY salty.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was excellent. TheThe food was excellent. The steak was done perfectly and the Caesar salad delicious.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I were celebratingMy husband and I were celebrating our 57th Wedding Anniversary and wanted a special place to go. We were not dissapointed. The service and food were fabulous.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ambiance and terrificGreat ambiance and terrific service. Food was very good, but very overpriced. I guess for the price I expected a little better.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food, but overpricedThe stars above for food, service, and ambiance don't average out to my "overall" rating -- that's because there's another dimension to the experience, value for $.
Food was very good (not great, but it's a chophouse, and there's only so many things you can do with a steak), our server Danielle was fantastically helpful, and the redesign is nice.
But $45-$50 for steaks, that don't come with sides or sauces? (Well, I take that back...they do come with a sprig of parsley!)
I'm more than happy to pay $50 for a fantastic entree (and have, many times) -- but not for a simple steak on a plate. Drinks are also incredibly expensive.
Great place if you're on an expense account. Have difficulty recommending with so many other options out4/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Easter Brunch ever!GreatBest Easter Brunch ever!Great food, service and desserts. Server was top shelf. Very polished.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWe were visiting MinneapolisWe were visiting Minneapolis and looking for a place for a traditional Easter Brunch. Food was delicious and service excellent. Highly recommend.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMB & T with Gigi 3/31 for 46!!Murray's is our all time favorite. It is simply the best, most consistent fine dining restaurant we have experienced all a cross America
The tradition of top quality whiich began with the Murray family in 1946 continues today.
Thanks Jill, Tim & your team for a memorable Easter event.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMurray's has remodeled sinceMurray's has remodeled since I was last there and it looks great. Although I kind of miss the older feel to this classic bar and restaurant. The Easter Brunch was fabulous with lots of delicious food for everyone to choose from. No steak but some of the best Prime Rib you will ever consume. All enjoyed our time together at Murray's and will be back sometimw to enjoy the signature Butter Knife Steak.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time here since theFirst time here since the remodel. We come every year for our anniversary. Only two things were a bit disappointing. The waiter didn't bring the garlic toast that they are so famous for until we asked for it. The waiters response was that he doesn't bring the toast until the dinner comes. But then we noticed that the table next to us had the toast before? He did then bring it right away. The second disappointment was when we ordered the creme brulee dessert. He informed us that it is not on the menu anymore. Bummer! We did not recognize many faces of the waiters and help. They must have had a notable turnover?! I would definitely go back again!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was my wifes birthday. It was my wifes birthday. The dinner steaks we had came to us just as we ordered- a little pink!! The salad was also good as well as our favorite-the garlic toast.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMThe braised short ribs were amazingThe braised short ribs were amazing! The salad (ranch dressing) was a bit underwhelming, but this is a meat lovers paradise! Not to mention, a lovely assortment of bread accompanied the meal. Wonderful service, delicious food... a great upscale lunch spot. Will be in for dinner soon!3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a pleasant eveningWe had a pleasant evening at Murray's monday night. My wife and I shared a silver butterkife steak for two. Our dinner mates shared a chateaubriand steak for two. Done to perfection. The desserts were more than we could eat, but it was fun.3/25/2013 12:00:00 AMCheck your bill; steak forCheck your bill; steak for 2- duplicate charge for 2 sides plus an upgrade charge for soup of the day(?). Food was exceptional.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent steaks... but thatExcellent steaks... but that is what Murray's is known for! The rest of the food is fairly pedestrian, but well done. Two of us split the swilver butterknife steak... enough for each of us to take home some! Another diner had the filet and raved about it. They raved about the brussel sprouts (I don;t care for them myself) but I was happy they kept the Thousand Island dressing! We were too full for dessert, but witnessed the preparation of Cherries Jubilee... quite impressive! Its not on the menu, however... you have to request it.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I were at Murray'sMy wife and I were at Murray's for our anniversary. It was our first time there. Your reputation lived up to the billing. The food was fabulous and Dennis, our waiter, was more than gracious, answering every question we had including how much to tip the valet. Mr. Murray also was able to allow me to spend some time with him at a private table in the bar area to answer a bunch of questions, some even personal and he made a very generous gesture by giving me a bottle of his steak seasoning to take home at no charge.
We would like to visit more often if our finances allow it as Murray's is a bit out of our price range to become regulars, although we would like to. Maybe we will become once a year regulars.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, a wonderful experienceGreat food, a wonderful experience for a special night.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food. Murray's is knownGreat food. Murray's is known for their butterknife steak for two which we ordered. Came prepared just right. Plenty of food- as in more than enough to eat. Waiter asked if we wanted to linger over our dinner, which we did, and so he did not rush us at all. Only glitch was that we had to wait 15-20 minutes for our reservation. Guess that shows the popularity of the place.3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for the St.Pat's DayWe went for the St.Pat's Day Special and were not disappointed. The corned beef was the best we have ever had. It came with a wonderful cabbage medley garnished with tiny green top carrots. Of course the bread basket was a treat with the famous garlic toasts and a wonderful soft pretzel. Indulging in one of the $5 special cocktails for the event was a good decision, too. Our waiter was a young man who seemed to know what dining out is all about. He was informative and timely with all the courses. Can't forget the incredible blueberry bread pudding with burbon caramel sauce. Portions were right on for those who like to take a little taste home with them.3/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBest steak ever!My wife has lived in the Twin Cities her entire life and I've been here for 15 years. For some reason we had never made it to Murray's before. Now we can't wait to return. The steaks (her filet, my ribeye) were absolutely the best. The side dishes and soup, we tried the lobster bisque, were also quite good. The service was warm and attentive. The prices make this a "special occasion" restaurant, but well worth it.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meal I've ever had.Best meal I've ever had. Steak was done perfect and service was top notch. Old school cool3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGranted, I have never beenGranted, I have never been disappointed with any meal I have ever had at Murray's, and it was phenomenal again this time! The Chateaubriand was perfect, the service was phenomenal, and I still can't stop thinking about how good the overall experience was!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the specials and theLoved the specials and the service. The food was fantastic!3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Steak in MinneapolisBest steakhouse in Minneapolis. Sadly, Manny's often steals the thunder, but if you are actually concerned about the FOOD you are eating at a premium price (instead of some trendy hotspot you hear about from your friends), then Murray's is without a doubt the place to go.
I'm a little disappointed about the remodel because I kind of liked the old-school dinner club feel... but I can understand why it was necessary to stay current. In any event, the remodel made for some nice touches.
You will LOVE the "salty bread."3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSilver Butter Knife are excellentSilver Butter Knife are excellent and large enough to share!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experience!
