  • "There was a very loud party in our room. I would like to see improvement in the coconut pie. It seemed like a chess pie to me."

  • "This was a suggestion of our daughter and her roommate. We had the Salmon, wheat Berry, Trout and Shrimp Scampi entrees. All were excellent. For dessert the carrot cake was wonderful."

  • "Fast service, attentive wait staff. I have eaten at Murphy's for at least 15 years. Consistently good food."

  • "I went to Murphy's for the first time with my Mom. They had a great atmosphere and our waitress was very knowledgeable about their products. Also, our waitress checked in with us just the right amount of times. We split the calamari, the cheese plate, the scallop salad, and a bottle of chardonnay. Everything was excellent- the calamari was really the best I've had. The attire is between casual and business casual- we saw people in work outfits, but felt very comfortable in jeans. This was one of the best dining experiences I've had in Atlanta."

  • "Great food, service was okay, probably due to the large groups of prom goers who were there. This is a trendy, noisy place but really fun and just delicious. Free valet parking is appreciated!"

  • "Murphy's is located in one of Atlanta's loveliest neighborhoods. The food is creative and delicious. The restaurant has lots of ambience and is a good gathering place for friends be it over lunch or dinner."

  • "Murphy's has been our go-to place for special occasions for many years going back to its original location in the old house on Los Angles ave, I believe. Food, service, & ambience always great & we always recommend to family & friends. Murphy's has never disappointed us in any way. Truly a local icon."

  • "As compared to area restaurants, Murphy's seems like a good neighborhood standby. It could offer a bit more of a fun bar scene with the incredible wine list this gem has."

  • "It had been a while since I had been to Murphy's and I had forgotten how wonderful it is. The crab cake, scallops and apple turnovers were all delicious!"

  • "We usually take friends visiting from out of town to Murphy's for a nice dinner. This time, Murphy's was disappointing. Cocktails and subsequent drink orders took entirely too long. Food was just average, one of the soups was not hot. Only saving grace was our excellent waiter, who tried hard to cover up for everything else. After paying $50-60/person for dinner, not sure we will be going back to Murphy's. I will be speaking with the restaurant in person to give them my frank feedback and elicit a response."

  • "Great food, great wine, great service . . . but SO HARD to enjoy it given the incredible volume in the restaurant. In all fairness, I think it was the party of 7 seated next to us literally shouting at each other. But the close quarters of the seating meant they were yelling in our ears as well. Our excellent waiter apologized, but even he had to lean in and shout for us to hear him. Roll of the dice I guess. Intimate seating, low ceilings and exposed brick make for a LOUD room if your neighbors are obnoxious. Would happily go again on the chance we wind up with a better table next time . . ."

  • "We met some friends here when they came to town. We love Virginia Highland area with it's booming restaurant scene. We had a great (expensive) bottle of wine, awesome tender calamari appetizer, and my shrimp scampi with risotto was perfect. Nice place. We will be back."

  • "Murphy's is one of our favorites!!! Never disappoints. Farm to table options, excellent fish and meat selections. Delicious appetizers and desserts with a wonderful and very attentive wait staff. We sat on the patio Saturday night and it was such a treat. Can't wait to go back!!"

  • "We have been dining at Murphy's for nearly 29 years. With one or two exceptions, the experiences are always great, and we love the vibe. I ordered the meatloaf this time, and I found it to be very different from the "old days." This seems to be a different version, and it wasn't quite as good. Our waiter, Jordan, was so energetic that our friends wondered how many Red Bulls he'd consumed. He was so anxious to keep things moving that he tried to present us with our check without ever asking if we wanted coffee and/or dessert. We had to ask for both......While the restaurant was very busy, there is nothing worse than feeling you're being hustled out the door of one of your favorite spots. Still, we'll return because we love Murphy's."

  • "We liked this restaurant. My food was excellent and the wife's was good, thus the very good food rating. But, we couldn't even begin to hold a conversation between ourselves. The place was LOUD, especially the table behind us. Apparently it was a group meeting and they held introductions, stood in the aisle blocking the servers, and spoke really loud (in order to be heard over the rest of the place). Our goal for the evening was to have a nice meal and pleasant conversation. We got the nice meal but the fact that it was so loud took the "joy" out of the evening."

  • "Had a group of 8 a service from our waiter named Jordan was fantastic! He explained the menu, specials and his personal favorites. Everyone loved their entrees. The braised brisket is a MUST have! The Murphy's menu has something for everyone, highly recommend you give them a try - always great!"

  • "I have never had a bad time at Murphy's. The food is great, and the neighborhood feel is the best. Great service, great food -- and although there is sometimes a wait, my reservation made it easy to be seated; I like that!"

  • "The server we had during our lunch visit was very cold and stand-of fish. If she mentioned her name, I did not remember it.she did just enough to not be out and out rude. This is very unlike our normal experiences at Murphy's either at lunch or after work. We were celebrating a co-coworker's birthday, so we did not complain. When I go back I will make it a point to not be seated in her area. As usual, the food was excellent."

  • "We had an enjoyable dining experience last Saturday evening, March 1. The food was good as was the service too. Murphy's has always been a favorite of mine and it was a treat to return for a visit and great meal."

  • "Murphy's used to be my go-to place for all kinds of occasions - professional lunch, relaxing weeknight supper, drinks with my friends. But my last two visits have been completely disappointing in terms of both food and service. On Friday, I met a colleague for lunch. I ordered chicken gumbo, kale salad and hot mint tea. The gumbo was tomato based with no hint of roux that gives true gumbo its depth and richness. The kale salad tasted heavily of lemon oil - instead of the freshness of lemon juice, it tasted bitter. And our server couldn't get the mint tea right. He brought me a fruit tea (you could see the apple in it) and when I sent it back, he brought out the same thing again. Time to find another go to place I guess."

  • "My husband and I booked a table at Murphy's on a recommendation and we went on a double date with some friends. I will say, I had the soy braised short ribs and they were not my favorite. They tasted overcooked to me. However, I was able to try a few other dishes around the table and they were all delightful! I apparently did not chose well. We ended the meal with dessert and that was amazing. The restaurant was a little tight with a lot of tables cramped in but the atmosphere was very fun and energetic."

  • "Everything about Murphy's made for a perfect Valentine's Day dinner!"
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "I've dined twice within 30 days. 1. A client for outing for dessert. Bad Service... 2.Valentine's Day. We ordered from the prix fix menu w/ wine parings. My app was lobster ravioli -wasn't good. The next course was braised short rib, I should've had tempura mushrooms, and did not. I expressed this to my server who didn't seem to care and proceeded to bring me a bowl of mushrooms. If Tempura mushrooms were an accompaniment as a part of the dish it should've been presented as such. I spoke with the manager about my service experience both this time on Valentine's Day and my previous service experience which was equally as bad. He didn't seem very concerned. Needless to say I won't be dining at Murphy's anytime in the near future"

  • "Good service, friendly staff, well prepared dishes. Only negative was the extremely loud, large group that arrived after us and were seated in the same section of the restaurant. . The noise level went from "energetic" to obnoxious and distracting very quickly. Without the noise, the evening would have been very nice."

  • "Murphy's is a very nice restaurant. great food with something for everyone. The wine list and cocktails are very good. It is a neighborhood hot spot that has consistently high quality cuisine. The service is also typically very good, but on the night we went it was not good. The hostess seated us using someone else's reservation. Thus, when one of our party arrived late she was told that we were not there and waited 30 minutes despite the fact that we had been seated 45 minutes prior. When I expressed my concern and displeasure to the manager he was apologetic, but also a little too defensive. The waiter on the other hand was solicitous and gracious and we had a good experience in the end. This is not typical for Murphy's."

  • "Murphy's was a natural place I thought of to introduce a new resident of Atlanta to during their first week in the city. Reliable service, good comfort food that is full of flavor, and a great example of all the great intown neighborhoods that Atlantans get to explore."

  • "Our meal was fantastic and the service very proper and friendly. My wife had the Gumbo and the Shrimp Risotto. I had the Ceasar salad and the Briskit. All were excellent. No desert due to being full! The service was attentive which is more than I can say about last nights service at another restaurant.."
