The Séance Lounge is the place for a relaxed, comfortable meeting before or after dining. Comprised of two areas, The Outer & The Inner Séance, the Séance also tells the story of a mystic & checkered past. The Outer Séance addresses the New Orleans era of Storyville & when Muriel's Jackson Square was one of the French Quarter's best bordellos! The Inner Séance is the preferred domain of the resident ghost, Pierre Antoine Lepardi Jourdan, & is the perfect spot for an intimate conversation & a drink amongst its plush surroundings.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Always a favorite... As a local and as a tourist. The food is divine, lovely ambiance, and an awesome location in Jackson Square right next to the cathedral."

  • "it was a great experience. My daughter have visited there before..1st time for me.looking to return with some buddies.Only a little confusion over the coolinary menu. I booked lunch on sunday, via open table, but coolinary was not offered, even thoug via the web it was. Food was delicious."

  • "Great in all aspects. Loved it I would definately recommend to friends."

  • "No indication in the least that the restaurant was just tolerating those of us in for the $35 special. Bayoubaisse was a very big hit with fresh shrimp and lots of crab in a peppery fennel broth. A very light biscuit was a real treat instead of the usual rice accompaniment."

  • "We went with high-hopes for the restaurant as I've heard so many good things - however, our lunch was average at best. Maybe it was the Coolinary lunch offering but it was mediocre enough that we won't be back."

  • "Food was amazing, drinks were delicious and service was fantastic! In the heart of the French Quarter in a lovely historic building, can't ask for a better setting for a fabulous meal!"

  • "Awesome!!! We were there Thursday night 8/14 for my son's birthday dinner. Our server was David and he was excellent! We ordered from the coolinary menu and everything was beyond delicious. From the atmosphere,to the history, the decor, the service and the food I will definitely recommend Muriel's to all my friends and I can't wait to get back there."

  • "Muriel's offers the most inspired versions of traditional cuisine, consistently excellent, surprising in its superior qualities, among all if the restaurants at which I have ever dined. Hands down, best of the best. Any dish. Can't go wrong."

  • "My friend and I had the pleasure of enjoying the Coolinary menu Monday evening. The food and service was excellent. Great location on Jackson Square - an easy walk for an after meal cup of café au lait at Café du Mode."

  • "We've been going to Muriel's ever since it opened quite a few years ago. Always great food and great service. Just disappointed we haven't seen the ghosts yet!"

  • "The food was outstanding! Still dreaming of the bread pudding & flourless chocolate cake. Yum!"

  • "I was very disappointed. Although our service was good, when i received my entree, it was cold and looked like it had been sitting for quite some time and not very appetizing. I did tell on of the waiters and they took it back to be heated up. But when i received it again the dish was just not good, tough and no flavor. The other people in my party were satisfied with their entrees. I don;t think i would go back."

  • "Myself and a group of friends were in New Orleans to celebrate a special occasion and Muriel's seemed like a wonderful place for our dinner. The cocktails were phenomenal and got our night off to an amazing start. Our dinner was wonderfully prepared and so tasty. I highly recommend the duck and the bouillabaisse. Both were incredible."

  • "I've heard of Muriel's, had friends work there, but I'd never been - until now. The ambiance was quintessential New Orleans and just perfect for myself and my out of town guests. Three of the five took advantage of the August COOLinary menu, while two of us ordered from the regular menu. We were astounded at how affordable it was! Our dinners were outstanding, offering exceptional flavor and incredible value. Our serving team was very attentive and professional. I do believe it's in my top favorites now!"

  • "We had the 3 courses menu at 35$ with the seafood gombo soup, a bayoubaisse and spîcy shrimps, and the chocolate cake as dessert: all was perfectly dressed and baked. The Muriel's recommended cocktail was also great."

  • "The wait staff was exceptional with wonderful culinary suggestions. Especially enjoyed the double-cut Pork Chop, which is quite a meal in itself. We highly recommend the restaurant. It was our brother in-laws 50th birthday, and they made him feel quite special indeed!"

  • "Best meal we had in New Orleand over a 4 day span! Highly recommend the pecan crusted drum!"

  • "So happy that I discovered Muriel's. Located in a beautiful historic building off of Jackson square in the French quarter this restaurant is NOT a tourist trap. The service was impeccable the food was fabulous. Although not a Russian restaurant they had Borsch on the menu as one of the soup choices. Wonderful. I had never had Borsch before and wanted to try it. That was just one of the many great items we were all served. Don't miss this restauramt while you're here in New Orleans You won't be disappointed, I promise you."

  • "I was in New Orleans on business for 5 days. Went to Muriel's the first night and loved it. I brought my coworkers with me two nights later and they all loved it as well. Definitely try the bread pudding, it's the best I've ever had!!"

  • "For a one time dining experience it was ok, but definitely not a repeat restaurant. The quality of food on the coolinary menu wasn't the best. Service was slow. Noise was beyond the point of appropriate. Mistake on bill. Not gluten free friendly on coolinary. The waiter just said to order off regular gluten free menu. Coolinary should be available to everyone with eating restrictions. Overall not impressed..."

  • "Muriel's was recommended by a friend. I am not into tourist traps at all. I love finding original places to eat in this town full of restaurants. This was by far the best place we have eaten in New Orleans so far. It seems a little too fancy when you walk in which seemed to be a problem for us. I lost some of my luggage and only had t-shirts when I got to the city. It didn't matter. There is more of a casual atmosphere in the back room by the bar. The food was excellent and the service was superb. I would highly recommend trying anything on the menu especially the bread pudding! AMAZING!"

  • "Nice atmosphere and very nice staff. We twice had dinner at Muriels during our stay in New Orleans and both times the food was very good. The portions not as huge as in Houston where we live and we really loved that. You will not leave hungry at all but you're able to have a 3 course meal!!"

  • "Dinner was fantastic! Be sure to ask to go up to the balcony for a drink or two after your meal and soak in the ambiance of Jackson Square."

  • "Great food in a place that seems like it would just be filled with tourist traps. The restaurant's location is great, the décor and history of the restaurant itself are interesting, and the food is delicious. Service was friendly and helpful with regard to menu selections."

  • "I have never eaten at a restaurant where after 10 minutes, I had to get up and walk around and ASK for a menu. Yes, it was a busy Saturday night but I've eaten at much busier establishments. When we got our menus, they only brought 2 menus and there was 4 of us. Some in our party enjoyed the blackberry mojitos, and the alligator appetizer was good. Ihad the veggie dish bc I'm pregnant and dont eat much meat right now. The mushrooms were to salty to consume and the quinoa lentil cake was dry and tasteless. Took forever to get our check, we had two waiters and they both ignored us. Multitasking with other tables-just four-tops-shouldnt be that difficult. I am sure there are better places to eat in New Orleans. I'd skip this one."

  • "I needed a restaurant to have a traditional New Orleans meal with some friends who were in town for the first time. One member of our party has Celiac disease and the gluten-free menu was a welcome sight. Everyone got to have the kind of food they wanted, and the wait staff was very accommodating of our friend's dietary restrictions. A wonderful experience!"

  • "I first at at Muriel's last year for a dinner with a group of about 10 of us. It was so remarkable that I could not wait to go back this year and eat the very same dish that I had before. It was very good. Everyone is nice, and the manager asked if I had seen the historical upstairs yet. I went up there and saw where the ghost lives and out on the balcony and the wonderful historical decor~ Fab!"
