Diner Reviews
  • "I was in NOLA during August and ran across the Coolinary menu. I picked Muriel's from the list of participating restaurants because I'd heard it was good and the Coolinary menu options looked good. I wasn't disappointed! This was a fantastic meal. The ambiance was classy and upscale. Everyone in my party of 4 thought that each item was delicious. Some standouts were the bread they served, the turtle soup was outstanding and the bread pudding was absolutely out of this world! I'd definitely return for a special occasion and recommend to anyone for a memorable New Orleans dining experience."

  • "Wonderful food and impeccable service. Elegant ambiance for a romantic dinner to celebrate a special occasion. We had the three course price fixe dinner, which had a lot of choices and was well priced for the quality and the amount of food served."

  • "This was the first place we dined in NOLA. It was great. We were immediately taken to our table and quickly met the team that were taking care of us. We took advantage of the special Coolinary menu that allowed us to select a starter, entree, and dessert all for $35. What a bargain. The house white and red wine was nice. We really recommended Muriel's"

  • "We went there because my wife's name is Muriel and it looked like a nice restaurant. Everything was great. Dave, our waiter was outstanding. We ordered Duck and yellowfin tuna. Loved the themed rooms."

  • "My family and I made a last minute reservation at Muriel's during our family trip to New Orleans. We made it after taking a haunted tour of the French Quarter and hearing about the unique history of the building. Everyone had something different, but no matter what we ate it was well seasoned and delicious. The gruyere and prosciutto tart is a must! Ambiance is lovely, with large windows looking into the French quarter and Jackson's Square. The service was great - everyone was very friendly, polite and knowledgeable. Members of our party did feel pressured to leave quickly, even though we'd finished our dessert but not our wine - other than that the experience was lovely."

  • "We ordered from August COOLinary Menu. Everything we ordered was perfect. The pecan crusted baby drum and wood grilled tournedos of beef dishes were amazing! Creme Brûlée is a must-try."

  • "We arrived at the Big Easy Wednesday night and were ready for a traditional Creole meal. Muriel's was on the radar based on previous travellers' recommendations. The service was attentive and respectful of our party's needs. The gumbo had excellent depth of flavour. Two of us had the Pan Seared Maple Leaf Duck Breast which came with a confit dirty rice, leeks and baby carrots, and duck crackling with a fig reduction sauce. Such a savoury dish! We hardly had room but were convinced to try the pain perdu bread pudding and pecan pie. The bread pudding was served with a rich caramel-like rum sauce which elevated the dessert over the top! Thanks for a great experience and we'll be quick to recommend Muriel's to future vacationers."

  • "Service phenomenal! David was a gem! He told us of and showed pics of their resident ghost. Even got to go upstairs where the ghost resides. Spooky! Heart was beating hard the whole time up there."

  • "Went to Muriel's for Sunday Brunch with high expectations, all of which were met. We were graciously greeted and seated and throughout our stay service was prompt, efficient and courteous. My duck hash and my wife's Grillades and Grits were both superb. She had been looking for that dish throughout our visist, and was extremely plesed with Muriel's version. My spicy Bloody Mary and my wife's unique Gin Cream were both very tasty. Overall a great experience, and our server (Trisha I believe) even told us about and led us to the "haunted" part of the building, apart from the restaurant, which is definitely worth seeing. Highly recommend."

  • "No indication in the least that the restaurant was just tolerating those of us in for the $35 special. Bayoubaisse was a very big hit with fresh shrimp and lots of crab in a peppery fennel broth. A very light biscuit was a real treat instead of the usual rice accompaniment."

  • "We went with high-hopes for the restaurant as I've heard so many good things - however, our lunch was average at best. Maybe it was the Coolinary lunch offering but it was mediocre enough that we won't be back."

  • "Solid as always . I have never been disappointed. Service is usually amazing but this time was marginally less spectacular. In always hold on to a drink menu and after about the third time asking if I still wanted it the waitress just took it. Not a huge deal but marginally annoying . Go here, eat drink, and be merry."

  • "Muriel's offers the most inspired versions of traditional cuisine, consistently excellent, surprising in its superior qualities, among all if the restaurants at which I have ever dined. Hands down, best of the best. Any dish. Can't go wrong."

  • "I was very disappointed. Although our service was good, when i received my entree, it was cold and looked like it had been sitting for quite some time and not very appetizing. I did tell on of the waiters and they took it back to be heated up. But when i received it again the dish was just not good, tough and no flavor. The other people in my party were satisfied with their entrees. I don;t think i would go back."

  • "Myself and a group of friends were in New Orleans to celebrate a special occasion and Muriel's seemed like a wonderful place for our dinner. The cocktails were phenomenal and got our night off to an amazing start. Our dinner was wonderfully prepared and so tasty. I highly recommend the duck and the bouillabaisse. Both were incredible."

  • "I've heard of Muriel's, had friends work there, but I'd never been - until now. The ambiance was quintessential New Orleans and just perfect for myself and my out of town guests. Three of the five took advantage of the August COOLinary menu, while two of us ordered from the regular menu. We were astounded at how affordable it was! Our dinners were outstanding, offering exceptional flavor and incredible value. Our serving team was very attentive and professional. I do believe it's in my top favorites now!"

  • "We had the 3 courses menu at 35$ with the seafood gombo soup, a bayoubaisse and spîcy shrimps, and the chocolate cake as dessert: all was perfectly dressed and baked. The Muriel's recommended cocktail was also great."

  • "The wait staff was exceptional with wonderful culinary suggestions. Especially enjoyed the double-cut Pork Chop, which is quite a meal in itself. We highly recommend the restaurant. It was our brother in-laws 50th birthday, and they made him feel quite special indeed!"

  • "So happy that I discovered Muriel's. Located in a beautiful historic building off of Jackson square in the French quarter this restaurant is NOT a tourist trap. The service was impeccable the food was fabulous. Although not a Russian restaurant they had Borsch on the menu as one of the soup choices. Wonderful. I had never had Borsch before and wanted to try it. That was just one of the many great items we were all served. Don't miss this restauramt while you're here in New Orleans You won't be disappointed, I promise you."

  • "I was in New Orleans on business for 5 days. Went to Muriel's the first night and loved it. I brought my coworkers with me two nights later and they all loved it as well. Definitely try the bread pudding, it's the best I've ever had!!"

  • "For a one time dining experience it was ok, but definitely not a repeat restaurant. The quality of food on the coolinary menu wasn't the best. Service was slow. Noise was beyond the point of appropriate. Mistake on bill. Not gluten free friendly on coolinary. The waiter just said to order off regular gluten free menu. Coolinary should be available to everyone with eating restrictions. Overall not impressed..."
