WantedFirst time in NOLA. Wanted a great Sunday Brunch and we found it at at Muriel's. Great food, great jazz band. Highly recommend.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMThe ambiance sets the toneThe ambiance sets the tone when u walk into the restaurant. You can feel the history. The crawfish and goat cheese crepes is a must have appetizer. And the bread pudding is the way to end your dinner.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat spot!Definitely a must-stop when in New Orleans. Great food, awesome service & the perfect ambience.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAnniversary DinnerMade reservations based solely on the reviews, pics, and location, and we weren't disappointed. We were seated right on time, in a nice romantic corner table. The flowers I had ordered had arrived earlier in the day, and were waiting on the table. We were waited on attentively by two polite wait staff, and at every turn our water glasses were filled, napkins refolded, and every need taken care of. The food was great, service was right on, and the atmosphere was perfect for a 22nd anniversary dinner. We would go back here without hesitation!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMa new classicThe cocktails were incredible. The service was warm and helpful. If you only have one night in NoLa with your loved one, this is the place.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThe manager allowed me toThe manager allowed me to have my favorite sides during lunch hours. The sides were only avaliable during dinner but she made it happen!6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMSome of the best food in Nola!I always bring my guests from out-of-town to Muriel's because I think it is one of the best restaurants in the city. This time, they had a special seasonal menu with Creole tomatoes that was out of this world. Make sure to order the bread pudding; it's the best bread pudding I've ever had!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMNice surpriseEverything was excellent. Service was a bit inconsistent6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA real treatOutstanding New Orleans specialities such as turtle soup, blackened redfish with crawfish tails, and bread pudding; excellent service; fun jazz music.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant atmosphere and food.As a treat for our NOLA visit I wanted to eat in a 'fancy' restaurant which is something we rarely do while home. Muriel's is a gem starting from it's lovely and carefully maintained exterior, into it's elegantly furnished interior and right down to it's amazing food and impeccable service team.
Unlike many high end restaurants, Muriel's portions are very large and are beautifully presented. Hubby sampled NOLA favourites - gumbo and 'bayoubaise' - while had the double cut pork chops that were served with collard greens and sweet potato mash. The service was attentive without being intrusive.
I heartily recommend the restaurant while visiting NOLA. It was one of the best things we did while in the amazing city.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMA favorite New Orleans restaurant.Prix fixe dinners are an excellent value and very delicious. Started with an appetizer of escargots, which weren't on the prix fixe menu we chose. Then we each started with a flavorful turtle soup. My wife chose the Bouillabaisse as a main course and was very satisfied. I had the Pecan-crusted Drum, a most moist and delicious local fish. We finished with Creme Brûlée and Chocolate Flourless Cake. We had lunch there on a previous visit, and we will return to Muriel's on future trips.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place to dine in NOLAWe had an exceptionally good time at Muriel's given the historic charm of the building and neighborhood. Our server, Michelle, was friendly, knowledgeable about the food, and made excellent recommendations for our dinner. It was our best meal in NOLA, which is saying alot! The double cut pork chop was out of this world, as was the bread pudding. the puppy drum was fantastic too! can't go wrong dining at Muriel's.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMI had the 4 Course Prix FixeI had the 4 Course Prix Fixe meal for the Creole tomato. It was something I normally wouldn't try, but it was a wonderful culinary experience!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA delightful experience! TheA delightful experience! The dining room provided the perfect atmosphere to enjoy a most unique, creative meal. The service was remarkable, but not in the least bit intrusive. We loved our four course cajun tomato meal. The wedding parade which passed by on the street outside as we dined capped off a wonderful evening. Our annual New Orleans visit will definately include a Muriel's night from now on.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellentwe enjoyed our 20th anniversary at Muriels. The food was excellent service outstanding with a good wine selection. Kudos to Muriels and their staff for an enjoyable dining experience. Will absolutely be visiting again.5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic!I made reservations for some VIPs at a conference I attended in NoLA. Everyone knows there's great food in New Orleans, but I stumbled across Muriel's on Opentable.com. The food was divine! We enjoyed everything! Great crafted cocktails and awesome food. I enjoyed the pork chops on a bed of sweet potatoes and collard greens. I really enjoyed Muriel's and will definitely visit whenever I'm in town!5/29/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderfulA romantic dinning in beautiful area of the quarter!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWow!We loved Muriel's. Wonderful atmosphere and fantastic food. The best lunch we had in New Orleans. The service was great as well.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful experienceThis was our first visit to Muriel's, but will definitely not be our last. The food was absolutely fabulous, including the home-made bread that was delicious. Service was excellent, and well-suited for a fine dining experience. Located at the edge of Jackson Square, it occupies a great location for those interested in people-watching and seeing what New Orleans has to offer.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, impeccable serviceCame for Sunday brunch. Good jazz band. Great food. Order a la carte, shared items to taste everything. Staff understanding and welcomed it5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMDave & ConnieWe went for Sunday brunch. Food and service were excellent. A small jazz combo played in the background to add that special touch and a bit of fun to the occasion.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAn excellent restaurant !Un excellent restaurant dans un bâtiment magnifique. Il faut absolument essayer les plats aux écrevisses.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGOOD RESTAURANT ON JACKSON SQUARERestaurant is in a good location at the NE corner of Jackson Square. Food and service was very good. Went for Jazz Brunch which added to the overall nice ambiance.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMVery enjoyable. Staff wasVery enjoyable. Staff was perfect. Meal was just right.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLOCATION AND GREAT FOODI have enjoyed Muriel's on almost all of my trips to NOLA (usually 2-3 per year). The food is consistent in quality and wonderful presentation. The servers are helpful and attentive without hovering. This is a restaurant that seems to always be on the top of their game up to and including wonderful bartenders. The bar is a great place to get a drink before your table is ready; I usually go early to do just that. Just enjoyed Muriel's over Memorial Day weekend and will be back real soon.5/26/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing Food & Great ServiceAll the food we ordered at Muriel's was excellent. I wish I went there with a bigger appetite. I chose from the pre-fixe menu; the quality of the food for that price was unbeatable. The staff were very attentive all the way down to offering to call a cab for us at the end of the night. I would recommend this place to everyone and definitely go again next time I'm in NOLA.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMad for Muriel'sWe had so many restaurant names given to us for our week in New Orleans. From friends of friends to chefs. All spoke highly of Muriel's so we HAD to try it. Making our reservation on Open Table makes it SO nice, especially when you're far away from home. Just so easy to do it on the computer. I love it!
We were greeted by a smiling face and only had to wait moments for our wonderful table. Our servers were outstanding and knew their wine, drinks and food. They gave great advice as to what we should try. Everything was top notch and delicious!
The ambiance is lovely, warm, romantic, beautiful and "Haunted!" Very cool story about the building, owners etc. Be sure to ask for the 2 pages of notes to read about this establishment.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing food, fantastic serviceI went in thinking that "classic New Orleans restaurant" was code for "lots of expensive fried oysters" but it was anything but. I took a colleague, customer and prospect to dinner and it was just perfect. The Rite of Spring cocktail was yummy, as was the Duck Breast entree. I would definitely go back.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMTable d'hote May 2013Excellent "Table d'hote" selections that fit my expense account budget and provided a memorable fine dining experience. West end turtle soup was spectacular! I'll be back next time in NOLA!5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGood for foodies. Lots ofGood for foodies. Lots of savory brunch items but missing sweet brunch items. Also missing good brunch sides. Everyone loved the food they got and they accommodated my request happily and without question. Ambiance was fabulous! Service fantastic. Make sure to make a reservation!5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderfulMuriel's was terrific. The food was fantastic - innovative menu - and not overly expensive. Wine was good too and not terribly expensive. A wonderful evening.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMAttention to detailFirst, Muriel's is pricey but you get what you pay for. The wait staff wa on point, the food pairings and wine pairing were perfect. We were thoroughly impressed by the staff and their attention to detail. We would recommend and revisit Muriel's to anyone and for special occasions.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent across the board!I'm here in town this week for a conference, and chose Muriel's for a group dinner with my colleagues. By the time dinner was over everyone was complementing my choice. Good (unique) specialty cocktails, turtle soup, duck, and the butterscotch pudding is a must! So good, and the decor and ambiance is great too.
The only slight negative I'd note is that there was some rambunctious party going on upstairs, so occasionally it sounded like a herd of elephants overhead. I'm sure it's not like that normally though.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMSunday LunchEverything was very nice. I had the prix fixe lunch on a Sunday consisting of Turtle soup (w/ sherry), Veal with crab, potatoes, and pecan pie. Taste was excellent, temperature was fine, and the Bloody Mary was very good. The Pecan pie was heaven. Our waiters were very attentive and nice w/o being too friendly. My guests all enjoyed their foor and the atmosphere. I would not hesitate to go back.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat restaurantGreat food. Service was very good. Somewhat loud but we went on a Saturday night during prime time. We're seated about 10 minutes before reservation time. Everything made for a wonderful experience5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWow, another New Orleans gem!Celebrating a college graduation our family of five had a great time at Muriel's. The food was fantastic and the service even better. We will be back! Thanks5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMvery helpful! We were running about 30 minutes late to our reservation due to crowded parking downtown and they were very accommodating, and were ready for us when we arrived!! A+5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMemorable MomentDining at Muriel's was an exceptional way to commemorate our son's college graduation this past May. Quintessential - New Orleans! From the ambience of the rooms, to the exemplary staff, to the magnificent food - we enjoyed it all!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMMuriel's - a must dineTerrific food and top notch service. My wife and I had the pecan crusted puppy drum, and it was simply delicious. I also recommend the bread pudding. I usually do not care for bread pudding, but decided to try Muriel's and found it to be excellent. I will be going back to Muriel's next time I am in New Orleans!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed itWent to celebrate a birthday. Good good. Good service. Nice atmosphere.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter than I remembered!I've been to Muriel's before, I liked it a lot, but it wasn't on my favorite restaurant list. After last night tho, it made the cut. The fried oysters appetizer, the fois gras (even if the portion was a little to small for the price) and the duck(and the rice that comes with it) were all outstanding. Especially the oysters. And I had many fried oysters in my life. These were big, juicy and covered in this well seasoned cornmeal: delicious! I didn't get the vanilla creme brulle this time, nor the goat cheese crepes, but those were my favorite things along with the double cut pork chop prior to last night.
Strongly recommend!5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWe missed the ghostThe food and service were all superb. We found out later about the ghost table and seance room. We wish we had known to check those out.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMSpecial Night @ Muriel'sMy husband and I chose Muriel's Jackson Square, per a recommendation from our daughter-in-law, to celebrate our 39th Wedding Anniversary. We were both delighted with the atmosphere, the food and the drinks. The service was spot on with polite and attentive waiters who seemed to have perfect timing without being over-bearing. Our final course was Vanilla Bean Creme Brûlée which topped off the perfect evening. We plan to return the next chance we have to visit the wonderful city of New Orleans!5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBest meal of the weekNice prefix menu with a good range of options but we opted for the regular menu because the Lamb Chops sounded fantastic (and they were). It was a bit noisy but the tables were comfortably spaced so you did not feel packed in and the wait staff was prompt and attentive, even ensuring they topped off the wine glasses regularly. Wine selection was thorough if not extensive, ranging from moderately priced everyday choices to celebration extremes of $500.00 or more. They did offer selections from multiple regions including French, Italian, and US. Overall a great night and a good value for the money, every course was excellent and the timing was spot on, we did not feel rushed nor we we ever wondering where the next course was.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOur 4th time, our traditionalOur 4th time, our traditional last evening's dinner. Very enjoyable as always. We had the double pork chop and the puppy drum with crawfish, crab and pecans. Very nice.5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMStunningWe have an amazing dinning experience! The food was absolutely amazing! We are very much looking forward to another visit!!5/14/2013 12:00:00 AMBest of New OrleansMy husband and I have just returned from our 8th visit to New Orleans. We have enjoyed MANY of the "notable and suggested" restaurants this city has to offer, and yet again, Muriel's served us a meal that "blew them all away." Never, ever, will we visit New Orleans without having dinner at Muriel's, and I suggest it should be on EVERYONE'S Must Attend List. The drinks are great, every appetizer is delicious, and my husband swears by their Pork Chop entree that has always been enough for two meals! Lastly, save room for dessert, as it would be criminal to leave without having their OUTSTANDING bread pudding. It's big enough for two to share, if you seriously are that willing to part with even one forkful. MUST GO TO MURIEL'S!5/13/2013 12:00:00 AM
