Diner Reviews
  • "We went to Municipal on a Saturday night to watch the NCAA games. The bar was incredibly loud. Our server was inattentive and preoccupied most of the night. The crowd was unusual. The food was pretty good and has a nice variety. Overall, not a great spot. If you tend to like the River North Scene, you may like this place. We usually go for other neighborhoods, so this place was consistent with our previous view on the area."

  • "Food was delicious and came out quickly. Specialty cocktails were delicious. Our server was friendly and knowledgable. DO NOT GO HERE DURING A MICHIGAN STATE GAME... Unless, you know, you're trying to watch a Michigan State game and/or can handle the chaos associated with it. :)"

  • "Went there for lunch... music was blaring! Maybe I'm in the minority, but when I go to get a burger and fries on a weekday afternoon, I'm not necessarily looking to bob my head top 40 club music. Made it very painful to have a conversation at the table. And they completely screwed up my burger - when I said medium well, I didn't mean completely black."

  • "It was very loud. Our table had to yell at each other the whole evening."

  • "Had lunch here and stayed for drinks and the football games. It was good. Truffle fries were great, so was the chicken chili. Wine seemed a little bit expensive. The bar was nice, we'd go back."

  • "Want to watch a game and have elevated bar food? This is your place, but I wouldn't recommend it as a dining destination. We went with a Gilt City deal which was very limited in choices (it was for burgers and draft beer/cocktails however there are only 2 burgers on the menu, neither of which are particularly interesting), but management made it work for us and service staff did a great job as well. Most impressive was that the sweet potatoes were baked (not fried) and the side salad has dark greens (not just lettuce)."

  • "I love Municipal. They have great food, good drink specials for Spartan Football and a fun environment. I would have rated this experience so much higher if not for the events at the end of the football game on Saturday. We would have stayed for a few more rounds but immediately after the football game ended, several announcements were made unceremoniously asking everyone who was not playing Dr. Who trivia to close their tabs quickly and leave. It was neither subtle nor appreciated. It really soured what was otherwise a great day. Municipal may have gained a few more seats for their Dr. Who trivia participants but Municipal lost the 200 dollars that my group spent at the next bar. P.S. I love the lobster roll and truffle fries!"

  • "I've been twice for brunch since I live close by. Food is very good but service is marginal at best. Multiple beers that are on the menu not available. My order was not delivered as advertised. For the amount of upscale sports bars in River North this place does not do a good job differentiating themselves."
