An upscale sports bar, inspired by the streets of Chicago. Municipal will serve specialty entrees, gourmet burgers, robust seasonal salads, and an assortment of side dishes and appetizers. The menu is designed to be inviting and encourage sharing of small, medium, and large plates that offer… something for every appetite. Menu highlights will include a NY Strip and Short Rib Duo, Shrimp Cocktail, Falafel Fritters, Stuffed Mozzarella Meatballs, BBQ Chicken ...Flatbread, Lamb Shank, Pork Chop and more. Municipal Bar + Dining Company will feature a broad selection of draft and bottled beers as well as locally brewed craft beers and a selection of wines.   • "Want to watch a game and have elevated bar food? This is your place, but I wouldn't recommend it as a dining destination. We went with a Gilt City deal which was very limited in choices (it was for burgers and draft beer/cocktails however there are only 2 burgers on the menu, neither of which are particularly interesting), but management made it work for us and service staff did a great job as well. Most impressive was that the sweet potatoes were baked (not fried) and the side salad has dark greens (not just lettuce)."

  • "I love Municipal. They have great food, good drink specials for Spartan Football and a fun environment. I would have rated this experience so much higher if not for the events at the end of the football game on Saturday. We would have stayed for a few more rounds but immediately after the football game ended, several announcements were made unceremoniously asking everyone who was not playing Dr. Who trivia to close their tabs quickly and leave. It was neither subtle nor appreciated. It really soured what was otherwise a great day. Municipal may have gained a few more seats for their Dr. Who trivia participants but Municipal lost the 200 dollars that my group spent at the next bar. P.S. I love the lobster roll and truffle fries!"

  • "I've been twice for brunch since I live close by. Food is very good but service is marginal at best. Multiple beers that are on the menu not available. My order was not delivered as advertised. For the amount of upscale sports bars in River North this place does not do a good job differentiating themselves."

  • "Even before the crowds came in approximately 10pm the noise level was too much to talk to the person cross the table from me. Made 730 reservation which we clearly did not need after getting there. Also there were no tables for two do the place is definitely set up for groups. Avocado and crab salad was outstanding and not the typical bar food. Just not what we expected."

  • "On our way to a show, stopped in not expecting bar food to be so flavorful, well portioned and service so friendly! Would actually return for the food! Terrific goat cheese and stuffed meatball appetizers! The hamburger was as good as those at specialty burger bars! The turkey BLT was flavorful and juicy! High quality ingredients! The ricotta donuts were the only thing that was not up to par but everything else was fantastic!"

Nothing was done to try and make the situation better and no drinks we offered while we waited. Waitress ignored us until the machine was working again."

  • "The food was amazing! We had the meatball app, garlic wings, truffle fries and sliders. The services was great plus the manager Jason and the owner both stopped by our table to check on us. The digital graphics and overall theme is the City of Chicago so this is a must see place. I can't wait to go again!"

  • "Definitely not a good dinner spot. I'd been to Municipal for lunch and enjoyed their food, so I suggested it for dinner with a friend. Big mistake. The place turns into a nightclub around 9, and we could barely hear each other in conversation. Then it got even louder at 10. By the time we left, my throat hurt from shouting so loudly in and effort to talk to her. I'll never go there again for dinner."

  • "When I arrived they had the wrong reservation time. The bar was packed so I suspect they did not want to honor it and the table they tried to accomodate us with was subpar and not suitable for our group. Go for drinks and to watch a game. Don't bother making a reservation."
