I don't live in St. Paul anymore, but if I did I would eat at Muffuletta often. I ate here on a recent visit, and had the three course Sunday Supper, which is a bargain at $25. The dishes were quite innovative, as well as delicious. I was also impressed with the extensive wine list. The service was attentive and the atmosphere very comfortable. I know Muffuletta has been around for awhile, but it always seem to stay contemporary and never feel tired. I would definitely recommend Muffuletta for a nice meal.

I did not think the service or the food were anything special. Had salmon cakes, tasted similar to my mother's years ago coming out of the can. Pasts just average. Waiter not very attentive or professional

Really enjoyed the fetuccini with kale! Great Cabernet-Malbec blend from Argentina and salmon was prepared beautifully. Booth seating could be softer and it was a little noisy but service was excellent. All in all, it was lovely and would go back again.

We visited for a later-eve weeknight dinner. The service staff was attentive, helped provide menu guidance, and checked in frequently. One nice surprise of the evening was the beet salad: A few different colors of beets were pickled, julienne cut into "straw", and placed atop a bed of greens, with a small dollop of a soft tangy cheese on top. The other food was good, but seemed overpriced for the quality. The alfredo sauce for the tortellini had a gumminess that I associate with purveyor food, and the pasta itself did not seem to be fresh, more like dry/frozen pasta overly boiled. I would go back again if I researched reviews of dishes ahead-of-time to eliminate some of the hit-and-miss. Kudos for locally-sourcing ingredients.

We were glad we weren't in a hurry, because it felt like our waiter disappeared two or three times. It was a nice dinner, moderate portions. They gave us some complimentary popcorn which, to me, didn't taste like anything at all, but my husband thought was okay. Good bread. Excellent peach upside-down cake! He really enjoyed his Muffuletta sandwich, calling it a special ham-and-cheese!

I appreciated the creativity of my dish. I had the gnocchi and it was served with a grilled corn cream sauce with green tomatoes. It was delicious and seasonal. I love that. My husband's dish was less impressive as he had the salmon and it just didn't taste fresh to me. I felt it was a bit overpriced and left feeling like I could have cooked an equivalent meal at home and not paid the up charges for wine. I liked the patio seating and the service was outstanding but I have other places in the Twin Cities I'd pay this price for more willingly.

it's one of my favorite spots in the Cities. A bit tough to get a quick work-day lunch in as they're usually very busy - as was the case this time. We were glad for a spot on the patio (albeit less than 1/2 arm's length away from the "men's business meeting" next to us . . . which included a couple of cell phone conversations. No cell phones while driving or in a restaurant!!) Waitress was busy, but did a great job! Sandwich was very good (chicken salad..... I usually can't get past the Asian burger which is WONDERFUL). Friend's walleye omelet seemed to have a good bit of walleye missing, according to her - and she's pretty easy to please. It's a great restaurant whether dining inside or out! :-)

The food we ate was indifferently prepared and lacked character. The portion sizes were random and small. Three of us ordered the same dish and had wildly different portion sizes with two orders being extremely small. The gnocchii was not fresh, was over cooked, and was surrounded by tasteless vegetables. The salads had limited ingredients and were not fresh. We did not even bother to finish the salads. For the price the food was poor.

Muffuletta's is in my neighborhood and I always take family there when they are visiting. Everytime we have a wonderful experience. The menu has something for everyone and the food is well prepared and very good. They have a nice wine and beer list including some very good and affordable selections. The outdoor patio is wonderful on a warm summer night but my favorite spot is inside by the window on a snowy day - so comfortable and welcoming! Service is always great! A perfect little gem to be discovered!!

On our first visit to Muffuletta we were very pleased to find such a marvelous menu of locally-grown food artfully crafted by executive chef Matt Ellison. The duck was our favorite and it was the best either of us have ever had. Service was good and all the accompaniments including the bread, truffled popcorn, special butter, and salads were a delight. We didn't stay for dessert because we had to go but the selections were nice, but there was a lack of chocolate selections.

  • Very disappointing Louie salad
    irish2danish
    Dined on 7/28/2014
Had lunch there with two friends recently. All three of us had the Louie salad and all three of us were disappointed with it. There were just 3 small shrimp (sliced in half so it looked like there were 6), 2 or 3 asparagus stalks (mine were bitter), some cherry tomatoes, a very large amount of romaine, and a skimpy amount of dressing. Disappointing at most any price but especially so at $12.95 and the most expensive item (I think) on the lunch menu. We should have complained at the time and given the restaurant an opportunity to respond. The garlic spread served with the bread basket was delicious. The street side patio is very nice but it is a busy street so expect traffic noise including buses.

light sprinkle when we arrived, so sat inside which was fine - but this is Minnesota. All umbrellas down, never were put up - the newer restaurants down the street had patios that were buzzing, patios vibrant and full. Where are the flowers? What happened to the fabulous patio? Management should take a walk down the street. Food very good, prices were not out of line, though so glad we decided to split two meals as the peach quinoa salad was artsy but would not be a great meal on its own.
