Diner Reviews
  • "We are from Ft Collins, CO. This restaurant was recommended to us by Santa Fe residents. The food was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful, and the service was FAST. A great experience!"

  • "Worth going to except faux margaritas are disappointing. They should get a liquor license."

  • "My husband and I stopped in Mucho Gusto for an early dinner. The food was so fresh! I had the veggie enchiladas and my husband had the chicken enchiladas. The salsas were delicios too. The service was great....we really enjoyed the gal who sat us....she was very kind and gave us a good suggestion for an after dinner drink."

  • "After a long day of skiing dinner here was ideal! The fajitas were perfectly prepared with great flavor. And the Bomb was everything it was meant to be. The atmosphere was quiet, not crowded and great service!"

  • "Went here for a romantic Valentine's evening dinner because of the reviews on Open Table. I was disappointed. Most of the time restaurants listed on Open Table have a certain "quality" and ambiance. This restaurant seemed like your local, run of the mill Mexican restaurant. They only serve beer & wine FYI and it's a good place for families or groups. The food was good but definitely not the best I've had in Santa Fe."

  • "We were visitors to the area and wanted a great Mexican meal. We saw the reviews on Open Table, made our reservations for 6 pm, and used the website for directions. The Marguerita was yummy, the tacos, assorted chips and salsas along with guacamole was delicious. Felt like we were in a family setting, warm and welcoming. Our waiter was attentive. Definitely recommend Mucho Gusto for a casual setting and great food."

  • "In my humble opinion, this is hands down the best New Mexican/Mexican food in Santa Fe. We have been to Pasquals which is great but mucho gusto beats it out with its food. The ambiance is very vanilla dont expect much, but the food is absolutly awesome. The shredded chicken green chile enchilada is not to be missed. Great for families and groups. We come to Santa Fe about three times a year and about two weeks before each trip I dream of the food at mucho gusto. If you come to Sanra Fe this place is not to be missed."

  • "Mucho Gusto never disappoints. The menu isn't huge, but the food and service are top notch. It is one of our regular stops. The cordial atmosphere and excellent food make this a top choice when we want a guaranteed great meal."

  • "This was our first visit to Mucho Gusto and was delighted to find baked brie on the menu. The ribeye was cooked to our liking. But we both experienced severe dryness of the mouth, suspecting MSG was used in food preparation."

  • "I love Mucho Gusto! 1. They have free parking! In SF you score many points with me for that one! 2. An unusual twist on Mexican food. It is more Mexican than NMexican. The food is fresh, not greasy, not a glob of cheese hardening up on top, Really fresh twist. You almost feel like you are eating healthy! Always good service. Beer and wine only. Good sangria. I really like this place. Lunch is a good time to go too. We had the special burrito, chicken enchiladas, lamb tacos and shrimp tacos. All plates were clean in minutes! Wonderful chips and salsas as well. Love the tomatillo salsa! You won't be sorry."

  • "This charming little restaurant is located in a strip center off Paseo de Peralta and is not easy to find in the dark, but the food and service of this outstanding authentic Mexicn restaurant make any extra effort on the diner's part worth it as it may be the best Mexican restaurant in Santa Fe."

  • "Gave Mucho Gusto a try while in Santa Fe overnight at La Posada because 1) we were in search of fajitas (Texans craving some familiar food), 2) the causal dress code (we only brought jeans and many restaurants in the area require smart casual). As Texans, we're used to unlimited chips and salsa coming free with the meal, so the $4 price tag was a bit off putting (but we've seen this in CO, too). Note that it's not unlimited either. The waitress did not read us the specials (which sounded quite good when we overheard them at the end of our meal). Food was OK (hubby got fajitas, I got the chimichangas)... Fajita serving just seemed sparse (no rice/beans and only a little cheese)."

  • "The chips and guacamole were fairly good, the mole enchilada was decent, and the beef fajitas were horrible."

  • "Mucho Gusto is a small ,quiet restaurant tucked away in a small strip mall. It has a menu that offers many choices- from chalupas to fahitas to their own creation "The Bomb" The service was also great."

  • "We selected Mucho Gusto based on its ranking on TripAdvisor after our first choice was booked. Should have taken the time and recommendation of others that this is just a so-so restaurant. The food was pretty bland...almost tasteless! The service was very good and the entire staff very friendly and helpful for the two little ones with our group. There are other better places in Santa Fe."

  • "Came on suggestion of owners daughter, Jazmine. She recommeded & we enjoyed very much: 1) Chicken "bomb--creamy decadent chicken filled w/cheese, chilies, almonds, sundried tomatoes...yum! 2) Mole Enchilada-- afraid to try, but loved it. Sauce sweet and savory, similar to Indian spice, Garam Masala. Nice change from NM fare! 3) Suiza Enchilada--chicken with feta and tomatillo--fresh bright flavor with pop of heat 4) Queso Fundido-- 4 perfect light homemade flour tortillas w/remarkably smooth rich melted cheese. Wine undertone reminded of a delicious swiss fondue, elevated a notch with smoky chorizo. 5) Flan--creamy, smooth, rich wonderfullness without any air bubbles! Perfectly sublime!"

  • "Mucho Gusto is an friendly and unassuming Mexican restaurant stuck in a shopping area halfway between the Plaza and Canyon road. It has been in this location for years. The menu has gradually expanded over time to include most of my Mexican favorites. This was a late lunch visit. Service was friendly and helpful. There were a few specials. We chose the Queso Fundido to start and had the Chicken Mole Enchiladas and the Chicken Flautas. Everything was prepared to order. Service speed was great. But the food, it had that wonderful flavor combining the heat of fresh cooking and the heat of the various spices. The result was perfection on the tongue. For both of our entrees, the chicken was pulled white meat chicken. Moist and flavorful. Great"

  • "This was my second time dining here. The food is good, home cooked, authentic New Mexican food. The staff was fantastic. Very friendly and warm. My shrimp dish was fresh and delicious. Two people in our party ordered "The Bomb" - the chicken dish that they are known for and one loved it and one thought it was a little different - she didn't like it or dislike it, but would probably not order it again. The other person LOVED it! We ordered the arroz con leche for dessert and it was delicious. My only complaint about this restaurant is that is feels a little like a diner and not a nice special place to go. The furniture is more like being in a personal kitchen - which is fine, but I really enjoy ambiance when I go out to eat."

  • "If you are looking for a good, inexpensive southwestern dinner in a casual, friendly spot, this is the place. The outside doesn't lok like much but the service is prompt and very friendly. Try it out. I'll be back again!"

  • "Found this place by chance on a busy Saturday night in Santa Fe. Don't let the location fool you. Food and service were great. We made the reservation late and they got us right in and waited on our group of 5 immediately. Will definitely stop by again on our next trip to Santa Fe."

  • "I consider this a Mexican rather than New Mexican cuisine except for the always present and popular 'green chile' found in one form or another in almost every eatery in Santa Fe including McDonalds. Mucho Gusto provides interesting and tasty offerings of your more traditional Mexican fare but, with a interesting spin from their chef."

  • "The Mexican dishes were very good, but the special was not. Trout should not be split open and cooked that way. Too thin. But they could not have been nicer in trying to make everything right for our friend who ordered it. Worth a visit, but stick with menu items. Specials are often not special, but simply "off the menu" items comprised of a protein chef wants to move."

  • "This place had great reviews and I can not figure out why. I ordered carnitas then realized they were "beef"carnitas. They were actually fajitas that had been cooked too long in some broth and had mushy mushrooms, onions and red peppers in it. The meat was flavorless, over cooked with a cardboard-y texture. The presentation was sloppy. Our server was cheerful and then we never saw her again after the food was delivered so no beverage refills. My husband's salmon was flavorless and overcooked. What a disaster! There are too many great places in town to waste your time here."
