We had set a goal this year to visit at least 10 new restaurants this year, so we chose this restaurant since we had never dined there. We were greeted right away and seated at a window table. We brought a bottle of wine with us and the server immediately opened it for us. We ordered the antipasti special of fresh mozzarella wrapped in prosciutto and it was delicious. One had 2 small, but perfectly prepared pieces of trout. Other had fabulous, and hearty, sandwich of homemade focacia and mortadella. The place is tiny, but warm and welcoming. We were seated upstairs and the staff was attentive, friendly and helpful. The menu is small but our party of four tried four different things and each one was excellent. There was crusty bread, olive oil for dipping, pastas made from scratch and a wonderful wine list. They also had a list of italian beers as well. We finished with coffee, dessert liquor and the tough decision of which desserts. I had the tiramisu and our friends had a pistachio ice cream. Both were amazing. Our tab for four dinners with wine, coffee, and dessert was about $220. From the staff, the food, the wine all of it was by far the best experience we have had out dining in Portland in years, if not ever. I can't even remember a restaurant where the staff was so attentive and freindly to our needs without being overbearing. We dined for three hours it was that type of place. My wife and I were out for a special occasion with another couple and we won't be waiting for a special occasion again to visit. This place will be the first place we will want to be when we go out. We had a mushroom soup, spring salad, scallop antipasto, and trout. Everything was fresh, interesting, and perfectly prepared. Service was pleasant, and it was fun to watch the chef in the tiny open kitchen. Despite the thunder of the tram going by, the menu and ambiance felt very Italian -- we felt we could have been in a little osteria in Venice.
