  • "I'm from Seattle and was visiting Portland with my gf. This is honestly the best Italian restaurant I've been to in the Pacific NW. Fantastic atmosphere and service. Reasonably priced. Nice wine selection. Great appetizers including the scallops. For the main course, I had hallibut stuffed ravioli which was excellent. Overall, a great experience and perfect for a date!"

  • "We have found an outstanding neighborhood Italian restaurant that combines top quality food, superb preparation and attentive (but not overwhelming) service. Our dinner salads were made with fresh, crisp lettuce and the entries (grilled trout and pasta) were well prepared. Mucca tops our list as a restaurant we will continue to revisit. The only drawback to an evening of great dining was a noise level that made conversation difficult."

It's cozy inside with a few tables and some primo seats at the bar where you can watch the food being preopared. Everyone concerned seems to be intent on making your dining experience at Mucca a pleasurable one. We love it!"

  • "I simply don't understand why Mucca doesn't get more attention in the PDX foodie press. Oh well, just means more fabulous capesante scottate, tagliere della casa, pappardelle al cinghiale and gnocchi al coniglio for me. Nostrana? (Never had a good experience), Ava Gene's? (Fab, but not traditional trattoria cooking), Genoa? (glorious once upon a time, much like Giorgio's sadly). Mucca and DOC remain consistent favorites. I lived in Italy for 2 years. Mucca feels and tastes like my most memorable trattoria meals in Florence, Ravenna, Arezzo and Rome."

  • "Our first time at this noteworthy restaurant. All the dishes arrived in a timely manner, impressive for a full house on a Friday night, and presented in photogenic perfection. Every dish was excellent (with hearty kudos for the prosciutto with house-made burrata and the quail), and the service was warm, courteous, and professional. (Should you ever be served by Sean, you're in for a treat!) Portland has a plethora of restaurants that offer fine vittles, but Mucca stands out on all counts."

  • "I have had the pleasure of visiting Italy on three occasions with stops in Rome each time. This is the most authentic Italian pasta I have had in Portland. The chef/owner is from Rome and it shows, wonderfully, in the preparation of the pasta and the spot on balance of the sauce in the dish. Highly recommended."

  • "Tucked between a Lebanese and Persian restaurant right on the Max line, Mucca Osteria is one of my favorite PDX restaurants. I have always eaten well here. The Chef is right there behind the sit down bar and he is always willing to talk to his customers and cater to their allergies, etc. HIS BREADS ARE OUTSTANDING. Especially the foccacia, the flavors of which he changes seasonally. Ask him about his yeast. The carpaccio is heavenly. The gnocchi is tender. The panna cotta speaks for itself. Great place to people watch if you are sitting in the window or from up above."

Rest of the party did not seem to mind the street noise but it detracted notably from the enjoyment of my dinner.....not keen on having MAX run by in the middle of a delicious bite! As the success of the restaurant rises, the owners may perhaps think of relocating the same to a quieter area in town. Fabulous Food and Service!"

  • "This place is awesome. The standout was the tuna tartare appetizer and the wild boar pasta dish. My husband had the rabbit dish but we both thought it was not all that good. I have seen several reviews saying the portion sizes are small. They are smaller than most places but it is the perfect amount. With an appetizer and entree we were very much satisfied. And of course it leaves room for the wonderful baked fresh bread :)"

  • "We have walked by here several times and the room and menu were always very inviting. Finally made an early reservation a Sat evening. We split the tuna tartare which was OK. Needed a little more something - lemon juice or spice. The homemade pasta was a treat but our sauces, mine a rabbit ragu and the other the house special sausage, were just OK not great. Homemade bread was fabulous. Wine list very extensive and quite interesting. Desert of 3 cheeses a nice ending to the meal. Service very knowledgable and helpful if a bit slow at times. We wanted to love the place and we did have a pleasant evening but it just fell short. Too bad. "

  • "Well it was a great experience there, but the price of main dish is abit over excess,but definitely the environment and dishes are fascinating,also the service is pretty good the waitress patiently answer my questions and tell me what the dishes is. Expect it took pretty long time for the dishes to get ready. Well, for the price I only give 4 stars but its definitely worth it."

  • "We tried Mucca during Dining Month and so enjoyed it we went back within a month. We arrived somewhat early, but were graciously seated almost immediately - may have been the table they had assigned to us. The house charcuterie plate (can't remember the Italian term!) is adequate for two, and is outstanding. We both had pasta dishes as a main course which were wonderfully fresh, and just the right size so we could make dessert. If you are into Italian wines, the list is outstanding - we had a Teroldego from Ms. Foradori. A perfect ending was an espresso doppio with a glass of grappa from their selection. The only negative was the noise level was higher than last time, but we'll be back."

  • "Our first dining experience here and was disappointed with the food. My halibut(special for the evening) with a couple of carrot sticks and brocollini was okay. Fish was fresh and simply pan fried, nothing from the ordinary . The other couple ordered pasta with rabbit (hardly no rabbit at all) and pasta with Italian sausage, special for the evening, very small portion of sausage as well. The wine was fairly priced and the waiter was attentive and pleasant. Overall, I want this restaurant to succeed since it is along ethnic row of restaurants. I hope they will improve the quality and quantity of food they serve. Thank you."

  • "This restaurant was better than I expected. The Pollo al Marsala dish was very good, it was not your typical Chicken with Marsala sauce where the chicken would be breaded. The Brasato di Manzo e Risotto alla Milanese is a tender chunk of beef on top of risotto, it was very good. The reason I didn't give it the overall rating 5 stars was because I was sitting in a crowded section where my table was too close to the tables on either side of me. It was a busy night so all the tables by the window were filled up which made it a bit crowded if you were sitting there. As I said, it was a busy night and my food took a while to come out and the server a little slow. But despite the slowness, I would recommend this restaurant. "

  • "This was our 2nd time there and thought we should base on a colleague's recommendation try the tasting menu - it is absolutely a must-try! Chef mixes up some of the dishes so my wife and I actually had different antipasti and mains where we can share and have a good taste of Mucca. The antipasti were heavenly. The waiters are knowledgeable and loved their explanation of the dishes and they were timely with the serving. One of our great finds in Portland! Also love their own made bread"

  • "I was embarrassed at the poor level of service. Worst of all it was a date. Waiter was mostly arrogant, in the sense that hardly cared to make sure you were being served or listened to. Never asked how the meal was - which was terrable. We started with the Tuna tartar. Then we ordered two salads, one we specifically asked to have the dressing on the side and also the slow braised wild boar ragù. Waiter brought me only my ragu and never brought the salad!, ragu was cold, brought my date her salad with dressing all over it (even though we specifically asked to have it on the side) then walked away from the table.. This place was a complete disaster... Pretty pathetic."
