The culinary team is led by Chefs Pedro Silva and Angel Rios. Peeples features an underground sheik lounge on the basement level, the five star restaurant on the ground level, and event and private dining space on the second story. Diner Reviews
  • "I went to this restaurant in the hope that I had found a new place for our group to add to our rotation. I thought the food I had was good, but I was disappointed in the size of some of the portions. We ordered from the HRW menu. The crab cakeS(plural) were more like a crab cake bite! The entrees seemed normal size and were very tasty. Dessert also was just a tease. I had a sliver of cheesecake--so thin it could hardly stand up. I suppose this was due to ordering from the HRW menu, but I was checking the place for a regular dining spot & would be embarrassed to take someone there & have the tiny offerings served. We have visited several restaurants during HRW & this is the only place that we felt discriminated about the menu."

  • "I passed by Mr. Peeples several times and finally decided to try it during Houston Restaurant Weeks. Love the décor! The steak was the perfect size and it was tender and juicy with excellent flavor. I'd rate it as one of the best ever. My friend had the crab cake and salmon and also said they were much better than most. Dessert was good but not so great that I am raving about it. The chocolate crunch cake didn't have any crunch and only one raspberry. I already went back for lunch and was just as happy with the pork chop. During dinner the waiter could have been a little warmer before it was time for us to leave a tip. Overall great meal."

  • "My friend and I decided to try Mr. Peeple's out for Houston Restaurant Month. We forwent the HRMonth menu and ordered from the regular menu. I had the lump crab cakes, which were delicious, and the strawberry cheesecake for dessert. I am still thinking about both dishes days later. Our server Stacy was attentive and very knowledgeable about the menu."

  • "This was my third visit to this restaurant, first time for brunch. The experience was very pleasant. Food/Service/Ambience all very good. Three small drawbacks that are a bit irritating...they wont seat an incomplete party, the music was so loud at the hostess check-in making it difficult to hear or speak and the chair/booth table combo make it feel like a lower scale restaurant instead of 4 stars with little privacy."

  • "My friends and I were very impressed! The place is amazing, especially the decor inside. We enjoyed the brunch and definitely will come back."

  • "Great food, fun and vibrant atmosphere. Our waiter, Alberto wasn't very personable and appeared annoyed by our questions/requests."

  • "Girls night out! it's restaurant week on a Saturday evening. The food was good my filet was cooked a little less than I would liked. The ambiance and décor was great. I will put this on my special occasion restaurant list."

  • "We were pleasantly suprised by the food at Mr. Peeples after almost pulling the plug when we walked in to a scene from a cheesy Las Vegas spot circa 1987! The decor in this place is bad. Really bad. But the food was delicious and the service was great."

  • "The food was decent. The place looks like a club complete w/ cheap furniture and boot-leg fixes. The bar was incomplete. It looks like they did not know what to do w/ it. Service was blah.... I will not go again."

  • "We wanted to enjoy this restaurant based on prior reviews but just could not. The server was nice but overworked, forgot the refresh the cutlery 3 times! Drinks were served after the appetizer because 'bar was busy'. To top it off the chicken was served cold. By that time, we just asked for check and left."

  • "My girls and I decided to try this place out for Houston Restaurant weeks! I am so glad that we did! We loved the food and especially the ambiance. We had a great experience and would definitely go back. My birthday is in October and the outdoor patio looked sooo nice, we may have to come then and celebrate for brunch or dinner!"

  • "Excellent service and food. We went for restaurant weeks and the portions were considerably smaller than the normal menu. The complimentary pretzel bread is amazing. Stay away from the desserts... they are all DRY!"

  • "I'm not sure if I chose the best entree. It was tasty but I was really expecting more. The venue was beautiful but our seats were a bit dirty. Maybe we'll visit another time. Our waiter was great."

  • "I made a reservation in advance online, the day of the reservation a young women called to confirm, she did not seem very cheerful over the phone. I had a group of 10 excited to have lunch at the new restaurant and to support the HRW, last minute we had two additional join the group for lunch. Once we arrived the restaurant itself was very nicely decorated. When I explained that we had two additional to our group, they were not pleased, they even told me that we would have to go somewhere else. I asked if we could have the group split into 2 tables, they were hesitant but agreed. Overall the HRW menu was good, the wait staff was friendly, the receptionist customer service however needs a lot of work. Not sure if I would go back."

  • "Very pleased. Exceptional liquor, wine, and cocktail menu. Food was excellent - very well balanced recipes (salmon on bed of beans). The tenderloin melted in your mouth. The pretzel-crusted bread with cream butter was a delight."

  • "Had 815 reservation.... seated at 9 because they had "an event". We ordered off the restaurant week menu.... tiny portions. Food food was pretty good though. Reminded me of a Cosmopolitan in Vegas atmosphere and pretty decent food"

  • "This was my second visit to this establishment and the food was significantly better this time! EVERYTHING was great! I was in a party of 4 and their was not a bland dish. We look forward to our next visit!!"

  • "The restaurant has a vibrant and fun art deco interior. Wait staff was attentive but was very talkative & has the tendency to give you a little spit shower. We tried it during Houston restaurant weeks for lunch. This was my 10th restaurant to check. I am self-proclaimed food critic. Who could beat a 3-course menu for only $20! My friend had the poblano soup, pork chop then black magic cake whilst I had the crab cake, mushroom risotto and carrot twinkie. Both soup & pork were good but they gave you the mini 1/3 of the cake. Crab cake had a funky taste since they mixed it w/ some fish, risotto, nothing to write home about. Carrot cake was dry. Other restaurants didn't cut corner on the size, especially dessert!"

  • "I like to be wowed by my food, and the over the top decor when I walked in the door, led me to believe I was in for a treat. The decor was definitely WOW. My sister and I chose the HRW menu since we had not been here before. All the HRW portions were smaller than those around us. The crab cakes (with an "s") was a cake (no "s") and was more the size of ball. the dessert was a sliver of what we saw around us, more like a tasting menu size. I have been to alot of HRW restaurants and expected and received full-sized portions. For everything that was big and over the top in decor, the food lacked in presentation, portion and flavor."

  • "I went to Mr. Peeples with my son and husband to celebrate my birthday and it was phenomenal. It was our first time dining there but will definitely not be our last. The food was awesome, the drinks were incredible and the service from our server Jimmy was outstanding. We cannot wait to go back."

  • "Food was only okay - not bad; not good. Short ribs were dried out and tasteless. Dessert was inedible. Waiter offered to replace which was nice. Waiters border on hovering while you eat; perhaps they do not have enough to do."

  • "I attended with a few coworkers for lunch and we ate from the Restaurant Week menu. The food was excellent, the starter and dessert portions were a little small, but we figured that was because of restaurant week. Our server continuously mixed up our food, and he reused a to go box from a different dessert that he messed up. The sauce was still all over the box from the previous dessert. He charged us about $12 extra which had we not been paying attention we would not have picked up on. He was very careless. The valet was terrible. We could have walked the 10 yards to my car and left in a minute but it took him ten minutes because he was trying to get a different car started with my key. Which means the cars were not properly locked."

  • "made reservation online and was able to get a reseration the same day. Arrived about 6:30 and it wasn't packed. The service was great and the waiter was very friendly. The crab cake was gooe, but very small. If it had not been for HRW, i would more than likely not eat here. The food is very pricey. For their prices, i would rather go to Vic & Anthony. One downside is the $8 valet parking. There are parking meters in the area if you're lucky enough to grab one."

  • "Dined at Mr. Peeples for HRW. We were a party of 4 and half of us were running late. We asked to be seated at our table to wait for other members in our party. The hostess though said we couldn't be seated until the rest of our party arrived. So keep that in mind when dining here with a large group. Ambiance was beautiful and unique. We dined off the HRW menu so our portion sizes were quite small but the 4 course meal did leaving us pretty full. The crab cake, crab bisque, salmon were alll great dishes. The chocolate dessert I had was just ok."

  • "I went for lunch during Houston Restaurants Week. I had heard good things about Mr. Peeples and wanted to try lunch before going there for a future dinner. I had the crab cake, pork chop, and cheese cake. The crab cake was very small (about the size of vanilla wafer) but tasty. The pork chop and cheese cake were not very good. The pork chop had a great glaze, but the meat was subpar and rubbery. The cheese cake tasted no better than what you buy boxed by the slice at a grocery store. The quality of food may have to do with the discounted prices offered during Houston Restaurants Weeks. The service was good. Probably not going back."

  • "This restaurant was awesome! However, had a misunderstanding on the dress code. We were told dress to impress. No sandals. Dressy casual. No problem till walking in we see all of that. Even your host had on tights and a tank! Seriously? . If you are gonna enforce a dress code please do so to save the integrity of your establishment."

  • "I visited Mr. Peeples for the first time on Sunday for brunch. The restaurant itself is very nice, nice bar/lounge area, dining area looks very elegant and the atmosphere was great. Not too loud we were able to talk and hear ourselves without yelling. Music was nice and relaxed and not loud at all. The brunch menu for restaurant weeks was good and all the food was well prepared. They did forget to add cheese to my scrambled eggs, but no worries. The only thing is the service was rather slow. Not sure if it was the kitchen or a shortage of wait staff. Our waiter Todd was very likable and personable. I would definitely go there for a romantic date. the patio looks lovely but it was too hot to sit outside."

  • "The best thing about this place is the atmosphere! It has cool lighting and a trendy vibe but that's really all it offers in terms of dining experiences. The food was average-nothing special and the service was mediocre. It wasn't busy when we went the waiter just seemed kind of clueless. Maybe he was new? Honestly I think its over priced mediocrity. All in all I am glad I tried it because it was a new experience but I won't go back on my own accord."

  • "I am amazed at the stunning decor. Upon entering I was greeted with beautiful arrangements or flowers and two attractive and kind hosts. There was a short wait for our table but who cares ... let's take pictures of this beautiful place! We were seated and it took forever for the waiter to come. We ordered, and it took forever for him to come back. The food has a great presentation but the flavor had skipped town on this night. We tried every item from the "Houston Restaurant Weeks Dinner Menu" and, while decent because of the decor, I wouldn't return for more than a drink or two."

  • "While I should know better, and ask the price of the specials, having a special steak, an 8 oz filet, at 3 times the price of the 8 oz filet on the menu is ridiculous. I'm not one to shy away from expensive meals at all, but expectations vs. reality was a bit off on Mr. Peeples. $90 filet: not worth the money. Go to Pappas, or V&A or any of the other steak places for much better. Go to Mr. Peeples for a fun atmosphere and light dining, save your fine food ordering for other places much more gear to that scene."
