Crawfish & andouille sausage macaroni was over powered by the smokiness of the andouille. Creamed spinach was average. Onion rings were good, but nothing special. Could've done without the cannoli. Expected it to be cold. Would go back because of the perfectly cooked, melt in your mouth steaks & above par service, but would try different sides."

The steak was cooked perfectly and was frankly the best NY strip I've ever eaten. My date had the filet topped with crab meat and the portions were amazing. I will definitely be back here when it's time to treat ourselves again."

  • "We have eaten at many restaurants in New Orleans and this is by far the best steak we've had. It was my husbands birthday, I had put that in the notes of the reservations. He was told "Happy Birthday" by several of the wait staff throughout the evening. The service was incredible, I can't say enough about that! We ordered the onion rings for an appetizer. They were delicious, not greasy as many onion rings are. The steaks were cooked to perfection. We did ask them to leave off the butter, as I think a filet is rich enough without the butter. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert and they brought it to the table with a candle in it. Overall the evening was incredible! We will definitely go back next time we are in New Orleans! "

  • "I had important friends in town celebrating the passing of a huge Bill and I knew we would get extra special attention at Mr. John's. Our waiter Justin was top notch once again, the house special for the night included a few amazing salads and a savory soup but the filets were the best I have had in the city and in the top five of all time. Cooked to perfection melted in our mouth, one with crab meat was loaded down with crab and the creamed spinach was quite special but even better when spears on the garlic bread. Chef Rob came out to say hello and check on the table several times and had a few special treats for us that made the celebration quite special."

  • "The ribeye was perfectly done and delicious. Split a spinach salad which was just right and the sausage crawfish mac and cheese was one of the best sides we have ever had. Both the salad and the side was large enough to be split easily. We were seated right on time and the service was prompt and courteous. The cost was what you would expect from a top line steak place, not any more than Ruth's Chris or Dickie Brennan's..I look forward to returning to try the white veal rib chop."

  • "My boyfriend and I had a pre-theatre date Saturday night at Mr. John's Steakhouse. He knows the owner, Mr. Santopadre, and has been many times before, but it was my first experience. To my delight, prior to placing my order, I saw my friend Robert Bruce's name listed on the menu as Executive Chef. I have been long time friends with he and his wife, Peggy, as all three of us were in the same grammar school class. I didn't mention his name when placing the order, but upon exiting walked through the kitchen and was delightfully surprised to see Robert and get to visit with him for a brief moment. Thanks to all for a perfect dining experience!!"

  • "No real need to rehash the exceptional experience I come to expect from Mr. John's, but a few things were new and notable. The special appetizer was a perfectly seared scallop covered with jalepeno stuffed andouille sausage with a wonderful sauce drizzled over the scallop. A great effort by the new chef. Cowboy rib eyes for my friend and me along with the lyonnaise potatoes and mac and cheese with crawfish and andouille. Just perfect."

  • "The restaurant was conveniently located in the lobby of our hotel. The dining rooms are slightly dated probably to create a desired ambiance. We both ordered the ribeye steak medium rare and two sides. We were very pleased with the meal as the steaks were cooked to perfection. Be forewarned to cover yourself with your napkin when served the sizzling steak platter. The wine list is simple with a number of high end selections. The wait staff was very attentive and helpful. Because of our timing not a very intimate setting for a romantic dinner."

  • "I reserved a table online with special instructions for cocktails to be at the table, a bottle of champagne etc. It was all ready when I arrived. They even put confetti down on the table for a special occasion. Our server and his SA were phenomenal. I warned them we may camp out but we would take care of them, and they were very pleasant. Not too chatty, but always around when we needed something. The steaks are always cooked to perfection and their side items are continuously above the bar. It was a great experience. I have been plenty of times before and will continue to go back."

  • "I'm a frequent patron of Mr. John's and Friday night was a very good example of what they do well. Daughter's birthday, brought in a cake and bottle of champagne. No fuss, no drama, everything was handled very capably by Tony and Aaron our waiters. During a Lenten Friday instead of the Italian meatball that they offer to start off their meals they offered a fried tortellini in a creamy seafood sauce which was delicious. Kids ordered the fried calamari infiltrated by a tasty marina sauce. Small Caesars were served with delicious croutons. The steak count was 3 ribeyes and a filet mignon (part of the surf and turf). Served perfectly done in sizzling butter. Lump crabmeat was fresh and bountiful. . Perfect evening to celebrate a sweet 16th."
