Diner Reviews
  • "We went to Mr Chow for my wife 50th birthday. It was my son, my wife and I. The service was pretty good. The food was okay, and they forgot one of our entrees, but that didn't stop them from charging me $250 for dining with them. I would not recommend this restaurant. For that kind of money I expect a much better dining experience."

  • "My birthday dinner at Mr. Chows was one of the very best dining experiences that I have ever had, and that says a lot, considering that my husband and I are huge foodies. The food and service far surpassed our expectations. The entire staff made me feel so special and all had great senses' of humor. It is certainly one of the most special nights I have had and will remember for years to come. I'm already making plans to go back with friends."

  • "The food was amazing. I was confused on the dinning process at first but or waiter broke it down. I would suggest the Fierry Beef. That was an amazing entree over steamed rice. The only patrons at the table enjoyed their options too. My fiancée loved the Pork Pot Stickers & my uncle loved the Spare Ribs. The bar tender working on 8-8-2014 was excellent. Great sense of humor and amazing drinks!!!!"

  • "Wow, this place epitomizes the luxe life of Beverly Hills. Extremely over priced Chinese food, basically; you are paying for the ambiance and experience. Very impressive service, white tuxedo clad servers. Champagne on ice served tableside. So fancy. Great for poeple watching. Had 4 appetizers and 2 glasses of champage, and the bill was nearly $200. Ordered the Mr. Chow noodles (ok), chicken satay (eh), short rib (dry), and potstickers (so so). Would absolutely refer to experience one time only. The food is not worth the price to go back again."

  • "We took our teens to Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills and they loved it! The chef comes out and makes noodles right by your table-very cool. We had the Mr. chow noodles, crispy beef was to-die-for, steamed sea bass, chicken Joanna, dungeoness crab was ok, little dragon dumplings oh yeah. We ordered 4 appetizers and 4 main course for $62 pp and we ate ALL of it. This was our second time going, our first with the kids. Will definitely go back when/if we are in the area."

  • "Overrated in general. Took almost 20 minutes to be seated even with reservations. I had to ask a few times to be seated. The food was good, but not considering the price. Would not recommend this restaurant over others."

  • "My husband and I tried out Mr. Chow's for the first time on July 26, 2014. We made 7:30 pm reservations and were seated immediately. Seating is somewhat close to the other diners but it did not bother us. We choose from the selections offered on the special menu for LA Restaurant Week. The food was fabulous! We had the Drunken Fish and Glazed Prawns and they were amazing. We ordered cocktails from the bar. Our waiter was very personable and attentive. We will definitely be back!"

  • "The shrimp dishes were amazing and the but I have to say the the noodle dish was a bit of a disappointment. The noodles were cold and seamed as if the we're sitting for a while. We should have pointed it out but by this time we were ready to leave."

  • "The food was pretty, but lacking flavor. We were seated by many children, so the noise was bad. Overall it was disappointing."

  • "Everyone at the restaurant was as pleasant and friendly as possible. We went on LA Dine week on Saturday at 7pm and had no problems being seated immediately. The shrimp was incredible but I would not get the drunken fish (?) again as the fish was too soft, everything else was great. Their seating is somewhat unusual in that there is about 1' between your party and the party next to you (side by side on bench seats). Because of the tight seating, if you want to move, the table has to be moved out. If you love to hear other people's conversations, this is the restaurant for you. It is only possible to get a side table if you are a party of five or more. I felt uncomfortable, but that's me."

  • "Extremely overpriced Chinese food that isn't all that great. All 6 adults agreed that the food was nothing special. Most of the dishes were way below our expectations. Not one dish stood out. Simply put, when you eat there you are paying for the "name" and clearly not the food or ambiance. The service was very good but expect lots of up-selling and the "champaign cart" hustle is nothing but an insult. first/last visit"

  • "Had reservations for four but it was only two. I was there on time and had to wait for the captain to seat us. He came over and sized us up very quickly and escorted us over to a row of tables where the table had to be moved out for one to be seated...not fun. We ordered from the dineLA menu. The food was good but there is no intimacy as you could literally here every word of your neighbors conversation on each side. Not a good place to dine and talk. My second time out and I don't think there will be a third."

  • "The food is always very good here. It is certainly an 'in spot.' If it were to be judged on food alone there are certainly much better Chinese restaurants in the greater Los Angeles area at half the price."

  • "The food was excellent, as always. But we were bummed to not be seated in the main dining room where all the action was."

  • "The Service was great, the food was barely fair, except for one dish, I have had better food at PF Chang's Don't waste a ton of money going to this place."

  • "there is nothing like mr. chow. the food is spectacular and nothing like it can be found anywhere else. the people who run the place from the hosts to the waiters to the busboys are all wonderful. everything is at the highest level at mr. chow. most remarkable because they've been doing it for so many decades."

  • "the food was mediocre but it was Mr Chow..... You don't come here because the food is amazing folks. You can guarantee to see a celebrity, tonight it was the honorable Mr Larry Flint! We ordered the peeking duck w/several sides and mains. It was definitely over priced at almost $300 for me my dad & son."

  • "It was a good time but nothing to write home about.. Would I go again ? No!!"

  • "I wanted to find out what all the fuss was about. The service is impeccable and transports you back to another time where going out to dinner was an event. The noodle show (live demonstration of Chinese noodle making with a flair) was fun to watch and great for a couple who has little to say to each other. The menu is impossibly limited, the food is average at best. The Ma Mignon is delicious, everything was no better than the place around the corner. All this for almost $200 for 2 people. I would Prefer to lose the noodle show and prepare better food and serve it in reasonable portions."

  • "Most of the staples are fantastic each and every time...the fringe items are ordinary. My water glass was empty for most of the meal, and the wait staff left empty serving dishes on our table for a long time. We had to ask for the table to be cleared."

  • " Very enjoyable meal with my new husband. Food was excellent, I would recommend the ribs and the lamb. Waiters very friendly and efficient. Only downside are the tables being so close together if you are sitting on the inside it's quite awkward to get out especially if you need the ladies during dinner!!"

  • "Though attentive, the service is pushy in being suggestive and too quick to whisk away the food. We felt very rushed. One hint at standing and four servers pull your chair, push your arms in to your coat, nod, and motion for the door. "

  • "Mr Chow is a legend in Beverly Hills and has to be experienced. The food is amazing, the service is super efficient and the speed of the kitchen is something others should learn from. My only complaint would be that its very crowded and the lack of high chairs for kids makes one think if that's their discreet way of saying "no kids please" :) "

  • "I always expect the best from Mr. Chow, and they always deliver. The food is consistently good. Each dish has been perfected and always impresses. The attentive staff was sweet to have helped us celebrate our anniversary with a delicious dessert. Mr. Chow is a must, and the Beverly Hills location is tops. "

  • "What a delight. While visiting Beverly Hills we stopped in at Mr. Chow's for dinner. I was a bit nervous dining in a fancy restaurant with 2 small children. The staff seemed delighted that they were there! Recommendations were made as to what the kids may like and were spot on. Wonderful experience, can't wait to return."
    Dined on 5/19/2014
  • "Save your money. I would pay to watch the disgruntled Chinese noodle maker, but that's about it. Nothing special here."
    Dined on 5/18/2014
  • "Sorry to say it but Mr. Chow's is sorely overrated. The ambience at the Beverly Hills location leaves much to be desired (unlike the Malibu location) and much of your dining experience depends on whoever else is dining there at the same time. There's very little space yet somehow the restaurant is a loud echo chamber. The food is good, but definitely not worth the price tag; a $200 dinner for 2 should exceed expectations but this one unfortunately did not. "

  • "I was a little disappointed with the food. I expected it to be fabulous given the location & price. It was average. Nothing terribly special. The best dish we ordered was the steamed fish. Our server was great - very helpful. "
