There was a table with 12 or more children who ran around the restaurant, ruining what could have been a nice evening for everyone else. They were permitted to play catch with balls of noodles. The parents and maitre d' should have put an end to this unacceptable behavior.

i have been to many gourmet restaurants this is not one . ihave had better food at a take out restaurant the chicken satay was nothing special but chicken on a stick. sweet and sour pork was fatty. the crab folded in egg white was all egg whites. ther was a family of about 16 more than half were children the waitersspent all their time at this table .the couple next to me called over the waiter asking if they will ever have service or their leaving.no attention to our table either . mr chow should check in on his restaurantsand see what is going on.

Rude all the way! The arrogant man who sat us down was so unwelcoming almost shouting at us to choose one of the two tables he would allow me and 3 others to take. I noticed he behaved similarly with his staff as well; pounding his fists at the bar when speaking to the bartender. NEVER will go back.

The restaurant was the opposite of what I imagined a world famous and celebrity frequented hotspot would look like. With that being said i thought it was so cool that the restaurant seemed like any Chinese restaurant would in many neighborhoods throughout ny. The "normalness and lack of ambiance was all part of their "schtick". We were greeted like royalty and shown to our seats right away from a well dressed and suited maitre d. All waiters wear tuxedos. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a unique and authentic dining experience. definitely get the leechy bolini served in a champaign glass. You also must have the chicken satay. The food was absolutely amazing! I can't wait to go back soon.

I reserved a table for 2 and explained it was for my girlfriends birthday and when we arrived we were 15 minutes late but they still had my reservation table for us and the food was amazing. My girlfriend is chinese and she even said it was very good and well prepared. My total bill woth gratuity was $220. I already expected a higher cost when I reserved so I wasn't surprised. And they even had a coat check when we entered and they seated us both with class and they never let my water glass run empty and the best part that made my experience worth it was at the end of our dinner they brought out a slice of tart cake with a candle on it and sang happy birthday to her which i wasnt expecting. They went out of their way to make it memorable.

I always rave about Mr Chow and have been going for years. This time we were ripped off. Normally go with 2 or 3 and with 3 order the duck dinner. A whole duck and lots of great food. This time we had 7 and ordered the duck dinner for all. I was shocked to see they only served the same 1 duck I get for 3 for 7 but charged us for 7 duck dinners. Also the additional appetizers and main courses were too small for 7. It appears that if you have 8 diners you get 2 ducks and double orders of everything else. So go with 3,4 or 8 or more if you want the Beijing duck. with any number in between you are being ripped off. They should be ashamed. They won't see me for a while.

I remember wonderful festive dinners at Mr. Chow. Saturday night was so noisy we could not hear each other at the table and the food was delivered so fast that it felt like they wanted us out. It was expensive, the food ok, felt rushed and we has to sceam to hear each other. Not going back.

We came here because we have great memories of the LA location several years ago. The food was very very good. The service though put a bit of a damper on it. Our res was for 6 because we have a young child. We called when we were still standing outside at 6:05 with the doors locked. They just hadn't gotten around to opening up yet. No apologies.

My wife and I thought from the reviews that this would be special. Unfortunately the food what good but not great. Also, for the price the food should have been better. The noise level was very high and had to hold a conversation. The duck was overcooked and tough. The drunken fish was good but not good enough for the price

A classic...old school but still a hot spot...the uptown location has better food than the downtown location...and it is still a scene even if in need of a makeover! Its very '80s in decor but food is great you can go in a group or just as a couple...service is always great if you dont mind the waiter ordering for you...we love the flash fried seaweed and spicy noodles...and chicken satay...the crispy beef is great and the whole fish also...you will see everyone from rappers to politicians here...

Hi there, I was supposed to go to Mr. Chow's 57th street on Thursday 7.31, but when I got there the restaurant was closed... I got a confirmation email from Open Table and no email from the restaurant noting this. When I called the Tribeca location, they informed me there was a gas leak, but were not so accommodating on getting me into the restaurant. I was truly looking forward to this dinner, which was planned for months for my boyfriends birthday. It's unfortunate because I heard great things about the restaurant.

I'm not sure whether to be frustrated with Open Table or Mr. Chow. We made a reservation for 6:30 on 7/31, and when we arrived at the restaurant, there was a sign on the door that the 57th Street location was closed for building maintenance. We doubled checked everything, we had, in fact booked that venue for that day and time. No one bothered to let us know we needed to make other plans if we hoped to eat. I cannot imagine we were alone in being displaced—several other times were booked when I made my reservation. In the past, we've enjoyed dinner at Mr. Chow, but this experience will make me think twice before attempting to go back.
