Very poor reception, only fair service, no ambiance whatsoever, despite being at the head end of the High Line and in the middle of one of New York's hottest dining/entertainment/shopping centers. Despite the negatives, the food was quite good, even if it was very slow in coming and served with very poor concern for efficiency, politeness, and a reasonable response to repeated inquiries about menu items, wines, bread, etc.

Food was good but not awe-inspiring. Went on the Gilt City menu. They didn't have the oysters or steak, which is what we wanted. Restaurant looked pretty nice inside, but was empty; maybe because it had just opened up again from renovations.

What a gem, in a really fun neighborhood - close to the High Line, and to the buzz of the neighborhood. Restaurant is airy and pretty, with a 'hip' vibe and good music. Special menu included an outstanding lobster starter; pork confit was delicious and even the salad had a yummy dressing. Short ribs were great; skirt steak was good. Service was attentive and helpful. I would definitely recommend finding this spot!

Meh. Not horrible, but not worth going back. They were out of a number of things on the menu, were a bit skimpy on the bread and must have had at least three waiters trying to service our table - none of them doing a great job. We didn't pay full price, but if we had, I would have been disappointed.

MPD is a great find in The Meatpacking District. It's French influenced more than French restaurant. The menu is written in French but not pure French cuisine. I've been to MPD 4 times and each time made me look forward to the next. The cocktails are delicious and the wait staff makes perfect recommendations. The wine list is great. I had the salmon and it was perfect. It was tasty and wild and not greasy or dripping with butter. It was served over a vegetable dish that was divine. The carpaccio was the best I have ever tasted and I have tasted many. The Espresso infused Creme Brûlée is original in execution and delicious in flavor. Overall, I find it the best restaurant in the MP District. Better than the other over-hyped places. A mus

The day we dined it was a Wednesday at 7:00pm and there was a terrible thunder/rain storm. There were only six other tables with diners when we left at 9:30pm. I don't know if a lot of people cancelled their reservation or the rain kept people away. With that said, we had excellent service. We had oysters, salmon cru, short ribs in creamy polenta, great wine and cocktails. The best part of the meal was we shared this absolutely amazing coffee flavored creme brulee! It was so good we ordered a second!!!

We arrived for dinner a late but the staff was very cordial. The server was attentive & professional. We started with the seafoid Plateau - AMAZING!! My girl friend had the ravioli and i had the steak. The ambiance was relaxed and not the club scene that some websites claim. It was my girl friends birthday and they made us feel like royalty. Thank you MPD staff.

A great spot in the heart of Meatpacking district! Got seated right away at a cozy table. For dinner, we had an extensive chef's tasting menu perfectly paired with wine. Presentation of food was creative, beautiful and food itself was outstanding! Definitely a great vibe, a scene to see and to be seen. Nice decor and plenty of large table for groups as well as small intimate tables for more secluded dinners. Overall, a great place and definitely recommended!

Big fan of this restaurant. The thing that stands out the most for me is the food. Everything Jomari, the chef, makes is outstanding and far from the ordinary. The staff is polite and attentive and the ambiance is quite nice. The manager, Kile, goes the extra mile to make you feel special. The seating inside provides for areas which are quiet/romantic, other areas for big parties and the outside is right next to the highline. One of my favorite restaurants in the city.

This restaurant is a great find. Amid the trendy & hot spots of the Meatpacking District MPD is a restaurant that backs it up. The food is delicious, the drinks creative, tasty and fun. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable while at the same time they ensure you are having a great experience. The music is low enough that it can be ignored if it is not your thing. Actually the music was not my taste but then again I am 47. If I were 27 maybe it would be my thing. Maybe.

Music level goes up and down a lot but mostly up, making it a bit hard to talk even at a small table with just four people. Food portions are pretty good. Service with the drinks is slow and pricey ($16 a cocktail). But it's trendy and convenient to start a night in Meatpacking.

The service was among the worst I've ever experienced! We sat at a requested outdoor table on time, 8:30. We reserved there because we planned to walk on Highline and saw that it was "French restaurant week" dinners for $17.89. That menu was an OK deal but we opted for a la carte. The service started off OK, wine and our shared appetizer served in decent time. But it took an hour to be served our main dishes! We were not offered bread, our water was not replenished, our wine glasses were never filled for us. We asked what was going on numerous times (they had, I think forgotten to put in our order. They seemed to be ignoring all outside tables! Inside was packed. Were having a great talk or would've left before the entree!

This was our second visit to MPD and were really looking forward to a similar experience as we had originally had. We were seated right away at an outdoor table, which was very nice, great night lively neighborhood. We waited over ten minutes for the waiter to appear, he took a drink order then a full twenty minutes later nothing happened. No drink no waiter just water. My husband actually got up to see if he could find our waiter ,our drinks, anything. The waiter said the drink would be out right away that the delay was that "everyone arrived at the same time and placed their drink order". Food was good, portions small to moderate. Getting the check was just as long frustrating as getting a cocktail.Lots of staff chatting with dinne

The employees were all very friendly, accomodating, and eager to provide their expertise on the menu. We were recommended to get the Bordeaux Braised Short Ribs and the Seared Diver Sea Scallops. Although the entrees were good and we were left satisfied, we didn't feel like the food was anything to rave about. Their art definitely lies within the presentation of their food. As far as atmosphere, you have to respect the fact that you are dining in the meatpacking district. Do not go there expecting an intimate setting. The place is loud and vivacious which is perfect for a group of friends starting their night with a couple of drinks before hitting a club.

We loved the decor and ambiance of this restaurant. The appetizers and main courses arrived quickly and we all found them quite tasty. The service was very fast overall - but after taking our original order we never saw our waiter again. Everything was delivered by a variety of different table staff who weren't as good as our waiter. Finally - as other people have commented this restaurant is incredibly loud. The music is the volume of a nightclub - which is fine when you are in a nightclub - but having to shout across the table to my friends and to the waiter gets very tiring after an hour or so. Great music - but the volume kind of ruined the whole ambiance for us.

Food was good and the service started out great when the restaurant was not busy. However, as the night progressed the service got progressivly worse until such time that the waiter just left us sitting in the restaurant for what seemed like forever waiting for out check. What I noticed was that the restaurant will seat a table when the entire party isn't there yet. As such, there were several bigger parties that were in constant need of new drink orders because new people were joining the table. Our waiter was doing nothing but getting drinks for 2 tables for at least 40 minutes and completely neglected us. Ultimately we had to get up and ask the hostess for our check and paid at the front door.

Food and service merely adequate. Romaine salad was bland. Salmon was nicely cooked but lacking in seasoning. Noise level was just way too loud - we had to yell to be heard across the table. There just needs to be a little more of a balance between creating a party atmosphere and eating inside a stereo speaker. No need to return.

What a great spot if you are in the MPD and want some excellent food and vibrant atmosphere. The music is fantastic and it just makes you wish you could get up and dance. In fact, our waiter said to come back around 11 and people would be dancing on the tables. We ate inside at 8 as it was cooling off, and my date was cold. The Rack of Lamb was cooked perfectly and the side of puree of turnips with horseradish was delicious. My date had the Dorado which was equally good. We had a side of fries which were the perfect side with our dishes. All in all, a great spot for a date when walking around the MPD. Only wish the restaurant sold their Playlist, it just makes you feel great!

Not sure why it was on Open Table's Top 10 hot list-- it was empty when we got there. The waiter was overbearing and trying to upsell. The food was average and overpriced for the quality...my fish was just fine, but the accompanying veggies were tasteless and dry. Best food on the menu was the Fries. Unlikely to go back.

Service was not great. Mixed up one person's drink order, then totally forgot another person's food order and did not even notice it was missing until we pointed it out. Had to wait quite a bit for her order, which meant the rest of us ate without her so that our food would not get cold. Gave us two desserts on the house as compensation (there were five of us). None of us wanted dessert, so would have been nicer to make the missing meal complimentary. Food was very good, though not sure I would return based on service.
