We were celebrating father's day a few days early - a very special occasion - and my foodie family always wants to try what's new/different & super yummy. . . When making the reservation, I was not told about the construction. After a family member let me know that he noticed some construction, I called back and was told that it was almost done and it would not be apparent to diners . . . unfortunately I was apparent to me once I looked up while sitting on the patio . . . I would have liked to known up front and save this restaurant for another special occasion at a later date - since minus the construction, the atmosphere was relaxing and fun. Unfortunately, our plans were cut short last Saturday when we found that there was a small fire at the restaurant. Lucky that the fire department is located next door to the restaurant. Reggae is always so much fun and normally brings in a nice crowd of all ages. The food is absolutely delicious, and a good price too!! I was getting ready to order the salmon with veggies and cous cous from the regular menu, and my server informed me it was on another menu for only $10! I asked her if it was a smaller portion, and she said no. Well, let me tell you it was a huge portion and it was awesome!! My only complaint is the bar is very small and very tight, and it is not eaxy to dance, but soon there will be a new rooftop level which is under construction!! We made the reservation on Open table. We thought about walking...it was only 1.6 miles but we had walked all day. I decided that I wasn't going to get back in the car again until it was time to leave for the airport because traffic is so awful. I called the restaurant and told them I had a reservation at 6pm and if the shuttle could pick me up. The shuttle picked us up at 6pm because of traffic and our waiter had the shuttle waiting for us when we were ready to leave. We decided, however, to spend some at the bar for happy hour. I had an excellent martini for only $6; can't beat that! When we were ready for dinner, we were seated next to the fireplace as requested. I ordered my favorite entree, the seafood curry. Delicious! Service from our waiter was outstanding and the service from the hostess was outstanding. My only regret is missing the entertainment for that evening. We were very pleased that they offer "small-plate" versions of many of their dishes -- great for those with small appetite. The prawn scampi dish was excellent -- loved the special sauce (pere?). We picked Mozambique because it has a unique menu, live music, AND they will give you ride home within a few miles if you've over-imbibed. I like that it's got a great bar, live bands and some social responsibility. Food - mahi-mahi was outstanding. Grilled perfectly with a drizzle of some awesome sauce on it. The calamari peri-peri appetizer was tough - would not order or recommend it. A couple of dinner mates ordered the curry dishes. I tried the Durban Curry (lamb) - very good. Curry and other spices were nicely balanced, nothing overpowered; flavors were melded and complimentary. You can order small size plates which is a great option too. She had never been, and not only was the food excellent, but the service was also stellar (unfortunately, I can't recall our server's name)! In addition, we had a deal voucher and for a change, the establishment was helpful and accomodating, as though we were paying full fare for our meal (not the norm). This was very refreshing! Nice atmosphere, but a bit loud for casual talking. Medium entree prices ($20-$38).
