Diner Reviews
  • "We took some friends to Moxie Friday night and had the best time ever! From the moment we walked in to when we left the service and attitude of everyone around us was spectacular. My sister-in-law had had a bad day and the hostess greeted her and shared that it was all going to be ok now that she was at Moxie. We ordered appetizers and quite frankly each one we tried was better than the one before. Our food was prepared beautifully and each person said they could not believe we were getting such a great meal for such a reasonable price. We think of Moxie as a 'special occasion' restaurant but not anymore - for what you get and how they make you feel so special it is the best deal in town! "

  • "Looked forward to this experience & it was just ok. I would give it 1 more shot. However, if no improvement on second visit I wouldn't go back. "

  • "Not impressed at all. This place is trying to look the part of an upscale dining establishment, but not willing to put in the full effort. The entree prices are high and the portions are small. The people I dined with ordered a variety of starter salads and entrees, but none were impressive. The winter salad was plain and dry. It was a very small plate with a half handful of spring greens, a lot of thinly sliced veggies, and hardly any dressing (couldn't even taste what type of dressing it was). The kale salad seemed cheap considering it had a sparse amount of shredded goat cheese instead of the clumps that one usually expects. The burgers were just average, but the side of fries were way over salted. The chicken & waffle was interesting."

  • "We went to this restaurant for our anniversary and we were very pleased. We were seated right in front of the kitchen which was interesting to see how this kitchen was run. Needless to say, it was a well oiled machine. Our appetizers, entrees and dessert came out hot and fresh. The food was excellent and the restaurant had some interesting appetizers like the kettle corn and cheese curds. Will definitely come back. "

  • "moxie kitchen + cocktails is great! The food is delicious!!! It was a beautiful evening so we decided to sit outside for a drink and the kettle corn with bacon and cashews---awesome. The service was a bit on the slow side, I have to say. Our waitress kind of disappeared for a while but the bartender came out and saved the day. Even though they weren't timely, the staff couldn't have been nicer. We sat at a table facing the kitchen and our waiter was great! He was friendly and we didn't wait for anything. The meals were to die for. 2 of us had the the steaks and 2 of us had the scallops. Highly recommend both!!!"

  • "Energetic atmosphere. We sat close to the kitchen: noisy, but good for the entertainment. A trainee was our primary server with a veteran mentor. The young man was better suited for Chili's. The lobster (bisque) was rubbery and not good.My short ribs were perfect. My partner had two rounds of scallops - burned the first time and very cool centers the second time around.. The 3rd attempt was a lobster roll. The lobster was good, but drowning in fries and an over-size roll. The cocktails were excellent. We may pop in for lunch or see how their happy hour atmosphere is, but doubtful about a second dinner. The management appears weak. A shame for such a hefty investment in a locally owned restaurant. Gordon Ramsey should pay a visit...soon."

  • "This was my second visit to Moxie. The food was wonderul which was as expected from our prior visit. There are great food options and all are tasty. Our group tried many of the cocktails and they were great! The service on this visit was terrible. Our table was consistently out of water. Our orders came out of the kitchen wrong and the waitress did not check back promptly after bringing our food. It took 20 minutes for part of our party to get their check taken care of and it was incorrect twice before corrected. Our check completion was also delayed later that evening. The ambience was fantastic!"

  • "We were entertaining a colleague and we dared to impress at Moxie. However, her comments were that the wine service was less than expected. The food was delightful. The place was quite trendy. In all fairness, the server was in training I just hated that we got some of his first experience."

  • "My wife and I dined here the other day and it was unbelievably delicious. Drinks were extremely tasty and well crafted. Ambiance is unique and unlike anything else in the town center. it was fairly busy though- i suggest reservations. Menu has a variety of cuisines, mostly southern and seafood. the fried cheese curds for an appetizer was a great choice. But don't go here unless you plan on ordering the chicken and waffles. they are seriously TO DIE FOR!! Andre our server was also wonderful. He is so knowledgable on the food and drinks and is a very valuable asset to the moxie team. Overall, awesome night out at Moxie!"

  • "My sorority sisters and friends got together after 20 years and decided to dine at Moxie Kitchen. We didn't eat a lot because we had eaten at the beach a couple hours earlier. I can say that all of the salads were awesome!!! I also heard the scallop dish was excellent! Our waitress was attentive and friendly. I will come here again to try some of the signature dishes."

  • "Food was okay-nothing special or tasty. Eggs four ways tasted plain, trout was overcooked with no flavor but the hubby said waffles and chicken were decent. They really need to get much more creative with the limited options they do have available. The pleasant part was the good service, although they were not busy at all."

  • "Really enjoyed my first experience at Moxie's. The drinks and food were awesome. I had the short ribs entree and cheddar cheese appetizer and all was delicious!! My friend also really enjoyed her meal (chicken pot pie). We sat inside, was pleasant. I will go again and definitely recommend to others. Thank you"

  • "It took awhile for my kids order to arrive and when it did the order was wrong. Then a party of 6 adults sat next to us after being there for 20mins and they received there food out first. To top it all off, I ordered the same thing the they did. We walked out after an hour of poor service and not receiving our food. We left frustrated, disappointed and Hungry!!! The manager did box our order as we were leaving but it wasn't the same."

  • "We went with a group of 4 for brunch. The service was good, the food was great! I love finding places that serve dishes with a twist and Moxie certainly delivered. I ordered the hot pastrami and it was fantastic, kind of like a spin on traditional corned beef hash. I was also in love with the decor! Oh and you MUST try a mimosa with fresh squeezed OJ! I can't wait to go back for lunch or dinner soon!"

  • "I had been to Moxie once before and had a great experience. So great that I decided to go back for my birthday. They sat my party of 6 in a booth and we had a view of the outdoor patio which was nice. Noise wasn't terrible but that is probably my only complaint at Moxie. I ordered the short ribs which were on point! So delicious. My friends ordered the tofu, and the scallop dishes. Everyone loved it. We had the peanut butter stack for dessert and the peanut butter mouse part is so amazing we only wished there were more of that. The brownie part isn't as good as the mousse--almost need a sharp knife to cut into it. Love Moxie and plan to go back--hopefully often!"

  • "We had reservations and were seated immediately. The server was very attentive and pleasant. Started out with cocktails and they were yummy! Try the Corn 'n Hull. Followed by a variety of appetizers: deviled eggs, pork rinds, cheese curds, and salmon toast. We were pleasantly full. Romantic ambiance and wonderful date night. Great experience and will return again."

  • "Moxie seems like it wants to be a hip, trendy, upscale restaurant. It definitely is not your typical restaurant. The portions of food are a bit on the small side to the perfect size (you will be able to eat an app or two and your dinner without feeling overstuffed) however, the prices are too high for what you get. The food was good it just wasn't the atmosphere we prefer, I wouldn't recommend this place to my friends as I feel there are better places in the Town Center for the price."

  • "I actually thought we may be on Candid Camera! I must admit that while we did arrive 30 minutes early for our 6:45 pm reservation, we were shocked to find out we had to wait until our reservation even though more than 75% of the restaurant was wide open, with a few tables marked as "reserved". These tables were never filled during our wait. The hostess seemed uninterested. While the menu was limited with healthy choices, we were able to find something that suited us. Even thought the food was FABULOUS!, it was not fabulous enough to overcome the very poor greeting by the host staff. We won't dine again:("

  • "Reception desk persistently denied we had made a reservation (which Open table subsequently confirmed); Server was rude and offensive; Rushed us to order; Did not check back once meal served; We had to walk to kitchen to get aioli sauce; Food only mediocre"

  • "A group of 7 of us went to eat dinner for a friend's birthday and we brought our own cake. The hostess took the cake away and stored it in the back of the restaurant until the end of our meal. Once we finished our delicious food (I had the Chicken-n-Waffles which was fantastic!) the waitress brought out the cake and lit the candles and everything! After we sang the typical birthday song, the waitress then took the cake back and the pastry chef cut it into pieces before serving it to us. Overall it was a fantastic dining experience!"

  • "We were there for a weekday lunch, with the restaurant mostly empty. Even so, our salads took about 30 minutes to arrive, and we were surprised to discover that we still had to chop our own lettuce. Although our waitress was very attentive and apologized for our wait, that didn't quite make up for the slow service. Neither of us were impressed with the menu options. And for my friend, the smell of the grill was overpowering and nearly made her lose her appetite completely. Probably won't go back again."

  • "My wife and I have been to Moxie twice, each time getting multiple appetizers and entrees. So far we've ordered the soft pretzel, squash soup, smoked salmon toasts, seared octopus, all the salads, short rib, roast chicken, and rainbow trout. I am confident in saying that every dish has far exceeded expectations. My wife asked for some substitutions in her entree and they not only accommodated, but incorporated the new ingredients into the dish in a fantastic way. The value is good, with each visit coming to under $100 with drinks. Service, while not fast, wasn't slow enough to be noteworthy. I might worry with a very large group. Altogether it's an easy five stars, especially for the area, and we always look forward to coming back."

  • "The food was ok, not bad, but not great. Service was terrible. We waited an unusually long time for drinks and food, while tables sat well after us were served. We had no special orders. When asked about the mimosas we ordered 15 minutes ago in a 25% full restaurant, we were told they fresh squeeze orange juice so it takes a while. Seriously, 15 minutes? If the food was outstanding or the service was outstanding I would give a little leeway, however, when one is bad and the other just ok, it's a mix for a short lived restaurant. I hope they get their act together because the concept is great."

  • "We tried Moxie when it first opened & again this past weekend. While I can't say I'm as 'wowed' by the food now as I was then, it's still delicious and I would never pass up a meal at Moxie Kitchen. We were seated quickly & our server was on point. Watchful, but not hovering. We shared an appetizer and each ordered an entree, considering how full we were at lunch that we were debating snacking at dinner, I think we got our money's worth."

  • "Had brunch with my wife and daughter Saturday. We sat outside on the porch. The weather was great and the view was surprisingly nice. We started with cheese curds. My daughter had never had them before. Bad move on my part. Now I have to get two orders!! The girls had the Moxie burgers. What genius figured out to add bacon to the meat patty! Brilliant. I had the beet and kale salad. It was perfect. I have been to Moxie a few times now. Chef Grey has done a great job. From the building itself to furnishing inside and outside, Moxie is first class!"

  • "My first experience with our new Moxie at the Town Center was at an incredible brunch, when I was introduced to scrumptious waffles with fried chicken, and delicious fish with fresh-squeezed orange juice mimosas..Then we returned with friends this weekend for another culinary delightful meal. My husband and friends all had the short ribs-mouth-watering, falls off the fork-but I chose the scallops with the cheese grits-amazing!I I just wish ice cream had been paired with the chocolate "whopper"-and not the tasteless marshmallow..Such a problem, right? We sat in a semi-circular, comfortable booth which allowed conversation to flow easily. The bar is separated by the entry-so noise is not as issue, +there is a wide patio. Locally-owned!"

  • "Great bar scene and good service. Though the food is there as a technicality. I found the menu was rather limited, which would make u think what they did offer would be better than it actually was. Overall it's just a nice place to go have a drink"

  • "Maybe they need a bit of time to settle in and get a rhythm? If you can get past the outrageous noise levels, the food just wasn't very good for the prices they charge. I ordered a $20 gourmet burger and would not do it again there. The bun came soggy and sopping wet, which is very unappealing and felt like I was eating water-soaked bread. My side dish was supposed to come with a homemade sauce but it never arrived. By the time the waitress came to check on me, the fries were dry, old, and inedible. I don't mind when someone other than your server brings out your meals, but the server should come by immediately afterwards to check on you to make sure you have everything and it all tastes good. Never happened."

  • "Just awful ! I went once when it first opened and thought it was bad but maybe they just needed to tweet something since it was new. So I went back this weekend and it was still terrible. Hour for food, loud, tables really close ."

  • "I had an extremely large party coming in with 28 people. I made a reservation thinking a smaller group would be attending and found out most of the invited guests were going to be attending. I visited Moxie and discussed with the manager, Shawn about the dilemma who was very accommodating. They would do everything they can to either seat our party outside or have multiple tables and try their best to seat us close. On the day of the reservation, Shawn came to me and said they were putting our tables together and we wound up with a whole section at Moxie which made the guest of honor extremely happy. The wait staff was very attentive and everyone was happy. Thank you Moxie for great service, staff, and for accommodating our group!"

  • "Great food but horrible service. We had to wait for 30 minutes despite a 5:30 pm reservation. Hostess said they were in the middle of a shift change and had no servers. Then they totally forgot about us and we had to keep asking about our table. We are pretty laid back about these things, but as we sat in the bar and watched a steady stream of people come in and be seated…well, it was fairly annoying. Once we were seated the service was extremely slow. Once again, however, the food was excellent and the server was friendly. Maybe they are still ironing out some service kinks?"

  • "I'm sorry to say that my first visit was a disappointment. I'm a fan of the chef's and went to this restaurant for my birthday on a recommendation. We had a party of 12 and food not consistent. Although I was pleased with my meal, filet and mac, several in the party were not. Our service was a bit slow, although she was friendly. I hope the next time will be better"
