  • "We really love this place. It's our go-to for a nice night on the town. The food is always incredible and the menu is always new. Their drink menu from wines to cocktails is worth noting. I would give you something specific to try but you really can't go wrong with anything on their menu."

  • "We had reservations at 8:30 on a Friday night. Our table was not available when we arrived so we went to the bar for a cocktail. I ordered one of the specials created for the Tasty Tomato Festival celebration. It was refreshingly wonderful...a little kick that was just perfect. We waited about 20 minutes overall for our table which wasn't too bad. We continued our experience by splitting an appetizer that was another Tasty Tomato creation and the duck confit salad. Both were delicious as was the rest of our meal. Everything we ate was carefully prepared and was a true culinary delight. As the menu is always changing to adapt to the seasonal abundance of local fresh food, we definitely can't wait to return for more superb creative dishes!!"

  • "Motor Supply has become incredibly consistent from start to finish with creative menu options from the bar and kitchen. It can get loud (though not this night), but it's always a good time."

  • "The food and our waiter was wonderful. Motor Supply always has something different to eat. We come here for special occasions. The only reason why I gave service 4 stars was because of the hostess's. They did not make you feel welcome and weren't friendly."

  • "Had an out of town business associate in Columbia for dinner. Motor Supply is the perfect place for the Columbia experience, Dinner and drinks were amazing - especially the cool cocktails. Hats off to the chef as always."

  • "The food was excellent, as was the wine. The service was somewhat slow and we had to look for our server more than once. We had another couple as our guest for dinner to celebrate my husband's Confirmation. When the wife approached our table she slipped on the floor and fell backwards on her backside. A patron sitting at the next table and I went to her. No one from the restaurant offered any assistance nor did anyone check with her at the table. Luckily she was not hurt. The lack of concern from restaurant personnel was quite disappointing."

  • "Make a reservation and get there early to try one of Josh' s amazing concoctions at the bar. A little pricey but the food is all freshly prepared in house and it is very obvious from the first bite. Absolutely delicious."

  • "The website advertises it as the "go-to" place for artisan cocktails, and yes, our drinks were delightful, but why did we have to coax the drink menu from our server after initially being told they were "between menus" and we could just order anything we could think of ourselves.....wha? He finally produced an "old" menu we could refer to. Thanks! We were also a little surprised to be escorted through the air-conditioned restaurant right out the back door onto the non-air conditioned back porch when we had reservations. We weren't asked if this was OK and we almost didn't stay. It was a muggy night, but the ceiling fans helped move the air enough to make it doable. Once we had our drinks and then the fabulous food, the evening was nice."

  • "My friends and I were stopping in Columbia on our way home from a week long retreat at a lake house in Kentucky. We were researching places to eat and Motor Supply Co. came highly recommended on several sites, so we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did!!! We started off the evening with cocktails. My friends were I unadventurous and ordered dirty martinis. I however ordered one of their amazing craft cocktails the gin and green tomatoes! It was amazing. We munched on their cheese board and charcuterie board which I both highly recommend. For dinner I had the duo of duck confit and sausage. That sausage was the best sausage I've ever had. I love how everything in the restaurant is locally sourced. You can truly taste the difference!!"

  • "They have a new chef - the food was very good with an emphasis on local, in season fruits and veggies and local meats. We had a nice seat on the patio (by choice) - it was hot but we enjoyed it nevertheless."

  • "After we were seated, we were greeted with complimentary champagne to celebrate our anniversary. Service was great as was the food. Kyle was an attentive waiter. We had the Mahi and the flat - iron steak. Both were very good - I've never had such a tender steak. We had the peach upside down cake for dessert. Great sauce, but the actual cake was just a little dry."

  • "We dined for the "Harvest Week" menu, which was a superb dining experience. For appetizers we shared the fried green tomatoes and the head cheese plate, both outstanding. For entree we had the rabbit ravioli, a unique and delicious dish featuring rabbit, ravioli, with various veggies in a superb broth, and the duck duo which featured duck prepared 2 ways which were both delicious. Will definitely dine here again."

  • "Fresh, local ingredients in every menu item. We visited during harvest week which meant all the items on a special menu were prepared from local farmers. Wonderfully delicious!!!!!!!!!!"

  • "My wife and I have been taking a tour of local restaurants and have found the Summer Harvest Week menu at Motor Supply to be exceptionally tasteful, so far our favorite. Everything was fresh and locally harvested and I have to admit the food was well prepared with a perfect presentation, beautifully plated with vibrant colors and tasted exquisite. I'd recommend it to anyone."

  • "Although I had specified on reservation that this was a very special occasion, 50th birthday, no mention of it, nothing at all special about this place. When my daughter ordered sweet tea, she was told (rudely) "we don't have sweet tea. we have Coke products." no mention of a wine list. Food portions were lacking, quality definitely lacking. Very sad, had heard great things about this place."

  • "The rustic appearance may fool you your first time. However, you will be pleased with the menu. The Peach Cucumber Margarita with Siracha is a Fantastic cocktail. They have great farm to table selections in all categories. They change their menu daily, and revycle their old menu as coasters, BRILLIANT! I chose the Confit of Duck and Housemade sausage on mashed sweet potatoes with perfectly made string beans, and the dish was very good. If the Confit would have been crispy I would have given the food another star. Our waitress was good and offered good suggestions. I will go back, when I visit Columbia."

  • "I have eaten at Motor Supply on two different occasions, and each time the food was outstanding. On my first visit, I had the fish. It was cooked perfectly and the freshness was notable. The second visit, I opted for a steak and it was delicious and flavorful and cooked correctly. I would recommend Motor Supply to anyone who is in the Columbia area and is looking for a fantastic dining experience."

  • "My husband ordered the duck with sweet potato puree and enjoyed it very much. He said the sweet potatoes were the best he ever had! We think there was ginger and cream in the recipe. He liked it so much, I tried to duplicate it at home. I have a very small appetite and only ordered the potato soup. Very salty! I ate a couple of spoonfuls and left the rest. Our server was kind enough to take it off the bill. We had creme brulee for dessert and it was the usual that you would find anywhere. "

  • "We came to Motor Supply Co. Bistro with high expectations based on several recommendations. We were not disappointed in any area! The chef sources his food locally as much as possible, which was a plus for us. This means the menu changes daily and has limited selections, but we still found it challenging to choose our entrees as they all sounded delicious. Our food was beautifully presented, perfectly seasoned, and a pleasure to eat. With drinks and dessert (no apps or salads), this was outside our normal budget for dinner-for-two, but we plan to return for other special occasions. Oh, and the service was such a step up from your average casual dining establishment. Fabulous experience all around!"

  • "First-time dinner at Motor Supply was fantastic. I wrote a comment when making the reservation that this was a special dinner (anniversary)- and the waitress greeted us with two glasses of champagne. From the salad to the appetizer to the entree to the dessert- impeccable. I had the flat iron steak- unbelievably tender and absolutely delicious- I now have a new standard for "great steak". We ordered a bottle of wine which was, unfortunately, not available. The owner came to our table and apologized, our waitress relayed our wine style request to the head barman, and another wine was selected for us- it was delicious- a total save for the evening. Thank you so much for a wonderful anniversary dinner. I highly recommend this restaurant."

  • "I've enjoyed Motor Supply Company ever since I was a student at the University of South Carolina in the late 90s. Back then, it was the place I saved up for to take a special date, or looked forward to when my parents came to town. Today, even though I live in New England, I come home to Columbia several times a year, and without fail, I come to Motor Supply. The ever-changing menu is always exciting, while maintaining a handful of regular offerings I can look forward to. The wine list is excellent and reasonably priced. The service is attentive without being over-bearing. What else can I say? The place is awesome. Go."

  • "My wife and I went to Motor Supply Co. to celebrate our anniversary. The service was excellent and we were given the right amount of attention. We were even offered two complimentary glasses of champagne. The food was outstanding and the portions were adequate. My wife had duck and I had a filet mignon and both dishes were delicious. We really liked the restaurant and would not hesitate to return to celebrate other special occasions."

  • "I lived in Columbia in the mid nineties and this was my favorite resaurant. Was back in town for a day and took a client to dinner --back to Motor for the first time in 10 years. It was a beautifully executed meal, with perfectly attentive servers. Cant wait to go back!!"

  • "We had a reservation for 6 for graduation. When Motor Supply called us to confirm the reservation, I asked for 8. At first he said he could not accommodate us. Then two phone calls laster, by Motor Supply, we had our reservation for 8. What a nice owner of this restaurant. Great food, great atmosphere, very welcoming. I will go again when in Columbia."

Nothing but potatoes or grits! Our waiter had an attitude when we asked about vegetables! Not a Foodie Place.Motor Supply has lost it's Taste! "

  • "After moving from California a few days ago I realized it was my wife's birthday and I needed a nice dinner and not at a chain. I mean Ruth Chris is always a no brainer and never lets me down but MSC Bistro was a hit and awesome experience. The menu is all locally sourced as much as possible and changed each and every day depending on chef and what's available to cook with. Wait staff as well as hostess and valet were all top notch. Prices were reasonable and they had Tito's Vodka on hand so it was a winner for me. All in house made deserts as well and that was a nice touch at the end of the night. "

  • "We shared the Artisan cheese and charcuterie platters and they were local, fresh and unique. It was a relaxing way with a cocktail to unwind. We would go back just for that, but our main courses were just as unique and delicious. Service was well timed which is a pet peeve of mine. "

  • "I'm being generous with the four-star overall recommendation. Service was good, bread and butter prior to meal good, was very disappointed with the rib appetizer. Literally no meat on the ribs, very dry. My father and I both had steak, would recommend going medium if you want medium rare as I could hear my steak 'moo' when I cut into it. I would go back again to give it another try. "
