Diner Reviews
  • "As with many places, Mosaic was "OK"; the food was flavorful and well prepared, but nothing unique to the standard Richmond Sunday brunch milieu. But, I continue to be confused why a restaurant cannot serve food that is at most only warm. Even the grits, which were hardy and tasty, and which would seem to require no great effort to maintain and serve piping hot, arrived slightly warmer than skin temperature. We had to ask for bread. Their peach cobbler (also served only warm) didn't fit my definition of a cobbler, no pastry topping and I thought there was too much cinnamon. While I would not tell anyone not to go to Mosaic, it would not be on my must-try list. I would go back; everybody deserves a second chance. Just not real soon."

  • "Good food, nice place burger week and the bean burger was poor. Other diners liked their selection"

  • "Mosaic is the ideal place to meet friends, have a business lunch or just enjoy truly outstanding food. The ambience could not be better with pillows and beautiful glass lighting and decorations. I live in Boston but am already planning another trip back just so I can dine at Mosaic!"

  • "Mosaic never disappoints! We loved our food, had wonderful service, and enjoyed our time there."

  • "I had a reservation for 7, but there were tables available outside. They are first-come-first-served, so don't expect to get one just because they're expecting you. I had the rib-eye which was well seasoned and delicious. They pre-cut it which makes a nice presentation. My wife had the Siracha-honey chicken. We'll be making this at home! Coconut cake for desert, and three drinks was $100 bill with tip. Very nice time."

  • "Wonderful and delicious as usual! Staff was attentive and very pleasant. One of my favorite places to go. I love the wide variety of food options."

  • "Mimosa carafe 1/2 filled with ice?!?! Terrible! watered-down, ice spilling all over table. Sweet waitress."
    Dined on 6/22/2014
  • "The food was all around delicious. Appetizer was suprsingly yummy and the salad was even better! The cake seemed prebought, not as fresh as I would have liked but still tasty."
    Dined on 6/21/2014
  • "The noise level precludes much business discussion however. The iced tea is the tastiest and freshest in Richmond."

  • "Always good food and good service. Attractive decor."

  • "Did not know what to expect, as we had never been. Went for an anniversary celebration dinner. Everything exceeded expectations! The food is imaginative and delicious, reasonably priced. Ambiance relaxing and comfortable. Service on-point. I have nothing negative to say. Looking forward to going back again! Also look forward to going to Sunday Brunch."

  • "We were celebrating our daughters' graduation. Our server was great. Unfortunately, we waited a very long time for our food. I believe there was a mistake in the kitchen. But, we weren't told this. We were tired from the graduation festivities, and were looking forward to a day of moving three people out of dorms, so we were not up to the delay. The food was okay, but not spectacular. We did get free desserts, but they were a disappointment. I can honestly say it was the worst creme brulee I have ever had."

  • "The service was pretty good. Waitress was fine but it took forever to get drinks. My son and I got the Shrimp & Grits and were very dissapointed... only 2 shrimp!...and a load of sauce that overwhelmed any other tastes hidden in the dish. Why can't anyone make this dish with out putting their own crazy spin on the recipe? My wife's green tomato BLT was nothing great as well."

  • "Terrific neighborhood spot with cool Chihuly-like chandeliers, a great bar, and fabulous food! All very affordable and so easy to book on Open Table -- no downsides!"

  • "They are consistently good! Always a great special or two! We will go back!"

  • "We enjoyed the food. It was well prepared and proportion sizes were appropriate. The wine was also good. It was fairly crowded inside the restaurant and on the patio outside so service was a bit slow."

  • "We have gone to this restaurant many times and always have a wonderful time with great food and service. Unfortunately this time our server diluted our experience by taking for ever to come take our order and bringing us the last 2 slivers of bread from the kitchen without acknowledging they were out and were baking more. That said, the food was delicious as always."

  • "Two old friends and I had lunch at Mosaic on a beautiful Monday afternoon. The outside seating was just what the doctor ordered. The food and the service were top-notch. Chris, our server, was knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. I look forward to returning for dinner."

  • "We had a great lunch catching up with friends. Just wonderful."
    Dined on 5/7/2014
  • "The menu is too limited for me. I couldn't find anything so had an appetizer of spring rolls and the gouda mac n cheese. Neither were outstanding although mac n cheese was heads above the spring rolls. My friends loved the seafood stew, chips and gouda dip. The chips and dip were good, but again, nothing spectacular. Creme brulee was too gelatinous and was a disappointment to all. Dessert options were also limited. The hostess, bartender and server were amazing. Patio outside is lovely as is the interior. Tuesday Night Date Night special seemed to draw a full house. It was a great deal! I will definitely go back, but my expectations will be different. I'll probably order a hamburger."

  • "I enjoyed my experience at Mosaic. I did mainly appetizers and dessert. The sangria (red and white) and seasonal mojito were great! My server was really cool. I believe her name was Emily."

  • "We made a reservation since it was Mother's Day and Graduation weekend, and we were glad we did! It was packed. The food was wonderful! Their Mac & Cheese isn't famous for nothing! The service was good, but not excellent. She was knowledgeable about the food menu, but knew very little of the bar menu."

  • "Was my favorite restaurant... then had some bad service experience... more than 4.. gave up... but of late the service, food and atmosphere has been more customer orietented. Just might have to put it back on my "Go To" restaurant list! Thanks for the attention to the service issues. "

  • "This was my first visit in years; my friend goes often with family, and finds the food consistently good. My salmon, grits and fresh kale was rich and delicious. However, as I sat down to wait for my friend to arrive, I noticed the wine glasses on the table were not clean, the tea light holder and the vase holding two small flower sprigs were both really dingy. Our waiter traded out the wine glasses, but when he brought a small carafe of wine, it, too, was as dingy as the rest - fingerprints, oily-seeming. Sparkling glassware in an otherwise attractive, popular restaurant immediately will pop it. Details matter to me and other discerning diners."

  • "Having dined at Mosiac since shortly after it's opening, I can say that I have never had a bad experience. Yes, I have had the odd disappointment, but not enough to quell my enthusiasm for recommending this restaurant without any reservation on my part. It is even kid friendly for those over 12, and they too will find an experience worth reliving. With extremely reasonable pricing, bringing the family won't cause you to request an increase on your credit card either."

  • "Took my mom for Mother's Day and it was fabulous. We split a split of champagne and the food and service were very good. Love the décor and personality of the place."

  • "We have eaten here several times, but this particular evening, the food was not very good. Maybe there is a new chef, but I know we will not be going back. The quality of the food/presentation has changed from the previous visits."

  • "Stopped in for a light dinner before heading out to an evening event. Menu offered a nice choice of healthy options. Nice atmosphere, bar service was somewhat slow, otherwise service was good."

  • "The atmosphere was very inviting and comfortable. Our waiter was great. Friendly, offered suggestions and prompt. Everyone at our table loved the food. Chicken with siracha honey was delicious. Only exception was the peach sorbet - no peach taste, dry and crumbly and a weird almost chemical taste. However, they took it back and replaced it with a WONDERFUL creme brulee. "

  • "My friend and I came to Mosaic for restaurant week. Every course was delicious. We had the macaroni balls for appetizer, a pasta dish w mushroom, swiss chard, tomatoes for entrée, and a chocolate peanut butter mousse. Every bite was delicious. The ambience, lighting, and seating was perfect. A large group had a party in the back. The service was great, very friendly. The drinks were good as well. Thanks for another great meal. "

  • "We took friends that were from out of town and we were disappointed that there was a special menu and we had to order from those items. We had been looking forward to our favorite dishes which were not offered on Saturday night, April 26. We absolutely support Feed More, but would have preferred to order from the regular menu. Love Mosaic and will continue to go, just wish our friends could have ordered from the menu."
