Diner Reviews
  • "I've hit many of the chain upscale steak houses, and this ranks among the best. The atmosphere was good, would be great for romantic evenings. The services was good, but not great. The food (especially the steak) was very good, great flavor. The wine list also very good. Only critique I would offer, the shared portion of sides (you have to order all side a la carte and it's supposed to be family style) could have been much larger to share with a group. But overall experience was good, and I would recommend it to friends and family, but be warned the price is pretty steep."

  • "Our group had been drinking most of the day for a bachelor party, so the wait staff made a good choice putting us away from the main group. We were asked to keep it down once, which was completely appropriate and they did it in the most polite way possible. They still took good care of us, the food was amazing, and the overall experience was an excellent one for our group. We've practically made Morton's a requirement for large parties, and they've yet to disappoint."

  • "Perfect birthday celebration! With personalized bday menu! Perfect!"

  • "The service was great, we were celebrating a birthday and the entire staff that we came in contact was very kind and wished our birthday girl happy birthday. The table was decorated and there were special menus printed, along with the group photo! The only thing that was out of character for the experience was that we brought our own wine, and when asked if we wanted the wine decanted, the server took the wine away from the table. In my experience, when a patron brings their own wine, that wine is to NEVER leave the table. Not sure if that general practice has changed in the food service industry, but we were very surprised when the server took the bottle away, especially after opening it at the table."

  • "Amazing service- greeted me happy birthday as soon as we checked in, "happy birthday" confetti on the table, and another greeting on the menu!! Food was amazing, our server was knowledgable on the menu and so friendly! Can't wait to come back!"

  • "The bib lettuce salad was drowned in dressing - nearly inedible. Crab cake not fresh. Grilled asparagus was drowned in a balsamic dressing. Steak was good, but $58 just for the steak?? All in all, I cannot recommend this this restaurant."

  • "Went here for my birthday (a party of 5). Got a great table, a menu named for me, and a photographer who took a group photo and gave us each a copy. My copy was mounted in a birthday card. Real sweet gesture. They also brought a soufflé on the house especially made for me. The file mignon and the mash potato were excellent. Hight recommend it."

  • "Another once a month personal treat at Morton's in San Francisco. As usual, the ambience is pleasing, the service friendly and prompt, and of course the food, which was cooked to perfection. This remains one of my favorite places."

  • "The atmosphere was a bit like a dining hall rather than a famous restaurant and not very inviting; I was disappointed. I would avoid the Onion Soup if your are going to dine there but the steaks were excellent all around."

  • "I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and felt so spoiled. Lobster Bisque is the best I have ever had. Loved the oysters too, both raw and baked. Even the bread was good! The hot chocolate cake was a good ending to our meal."

  • "We picked Morton's to celebrate a birthday, and they did not disappoint us!!"

  • "Morton's is exceptional! Courteous, helpful staff. This was a special occasion and they went the extra mile with decorated table, complimentary picture and souffle. They even waived the corkage fee. Food is outstanding. Top quality steak and seafood; great wine, dessert, and appetizers. The noise level was suprisingly quiet - the quietest dining experience we have had in a long time even at high dollar restaurants. We highly recommend Morton's for any special event or family occasion."

  • "We went for my brother's birthday, which also happened to be his first time there, and the entire experience was top notch. The staff that we interacted with was extremely friendly. The night picked up quickly and even with the dining area being busy, the general manager was still able to come by, not once, but twice to check and make sure everything was going well - she was very sweet! The food came out in a timely matter and was delicious! Thank you Morton's for making this first visit an awesome one - we will be back!"

  • "Last time I visited Morton's was over two years ago and was very disappointed with a high tab and poor food. On a spur of the moment with overseas guest we needed a go-to place, hence Morton's. Well to my surprise, with low expectations, the meal, the service and the overall experience was High-Fives. Starting with Chris our server, handling a party of eight, made all the right moves to please and was much attentive to our needs and never far away. The food was ten notch's up from my last visit and all seemed very pleased including the stand-by side dishes that got everyone's attention! The wine list offered a full fare point and the three we picked were fantastic. Bottom-line Morton's did a 180 and is firing on all cylinders."

  • "Only go if you have a huge appetite. Nothing was awesome or unforgettable. The room was unbearable hot and if it had not been Morton's and I really wanted a steak, we would have left. Morton's is not going anywhere but next time I might choose my local restaurant by my home on Spruce."

  • "Good food. Business like! Not a place I would take family or girl freeing/wife for dinner. No romance!"

  • "We choose Morton's because it was close to a theater we attended. We won't go back. We don't mind paying high prices for impeccable food, but the crab in the cocktail and my crab cakes was tired, and my husband's lamb chops were tallowy and fatty. To be fair, we did not order steak, the restaurant's pride. Now we'll never know how good it might be. Our waiter, Fabian W., was the best feature of the experience. He was patient, friendly, ebullient, and attentive."

  • "This was my first visit to Morton's. The service and food was amazing. By far one of the best steakhouses I've ever been to. Far superior to Ruth's Chris or Flemings."

  • "Compared to other Morton's this location was a little slow and the noise level was really high. This location has the bar right next to the dining room (not separated like others) and because of that the level of noise was extremely loud. The service here was also a little slow. Yes I admit we were there on a Saturday night during peak time but we had to continuously ask for water to be refilled."

  • "Morton's is always a good work dinner stand-by, but more and more I find it overpriced for what you get. Sure, the meat is good, but do I really need to pay $60+ for a piece of grilled steak? Better value for late night are the bar bites at half off after 9PM."

  • "I dont even eat beef but this is my fav restaurant in the City! The staff and management make the experience so fun, the food is gorgeous and the wine list is divine. Albert and Clarence at the front make me smile from ear to ear - they are gems! And the waiting staff - Jose, George, Fabian are total rockstars! The ahi tuna tartare, the oysters, the chicken christopher, all the salads, the mac and cheese - its all so yummy! My husband is always happy with his steak! If I could give it 10 stars I would!!"

  • "I came here for an anniversary with the lady. I reserved online with open table and in the comments I mentioned that this was for an anniversary and they did a few special things. They print out a menu with your names at the top congratulating you. Nice simple touch. The table itself is sprinkled with a few foil table scatter decorations like stars/hearts and "happy anniversary". The server was very polite, kind and helpful. At some point during the dinner, someone else stops by to take a picture. Then then print out that picture and put in in a simple paper frame for you to take home. They also give a complimentary soufle for dessert! It was a fantastic experience. Delicious cajun ribeyes. Tasty asparagus and cheesy potatoes. I loved it!"

  • "This location doesn't seem to get it right...the food was good, but the ambiance was less than hospitable. By the end of my meal, which was supposed to be a romantic Valentine's date, the staff was moving the furniture around us, closing large folding walls in the dining room, and generally making it very clear that they wanted us out. Our bill was over $350 for two people which apparently is not enough to get some quiet time after dinner to sip on the last glass of wine: we had to put a cork in the wine and take it with us. Overall a disappointment."

  • "The food was delicious as expected. My steak was cooked to perfection with a nice peppercorn sauce, although next time I will stick with my favored cut of ribeye. The twice baked Au Gratin potatoes were very yummy! I chose Morton's for a special Valentine's night with my wife for the upscale eating experience. There were a little busy but our reservation had us sat at our table 10 minutes early."

  • "I had Valentines day reservation for party of 4 Somehow their system said for party of 2 So we had to wait a extra hour for them to fix that. Then I had requested a booth and they sat me at a worst table by the hallway. Funny part is they had empty booth but they favor their customers first who have their own wine cabinet and cellar... Also the gentleman who had a grey suite on, I believe he was the Manager there was very unprofessional.. He told me that my reservation was for 2 and I told him no it is for party of 4 I had called and confirmed it and he was having a attitude about it and made us wait about good 1 hour to be seated, never spoke to me again or even apologized... In the restaurant business you have to give customer service."

  • "My boyfriend and I love agreed to come back to Morton's for happy hour. While we were waiting for our table since we arrived early, we wanted at the bar and saw the happy hour menu. Of course, we wanted to come back for happy hour cause we had a pretty good experience with their food at dinner. I highly recommend the crab cakes and the soufflé. Those were my highlight of the meal. I didn't think the steak was that outstanding but it was still great! My boyfriend and I still enjoyed our dinner time. Its a great place to impress your date or celebrate some special occasion."

  • "Ordered NY steaks and both were tough and one was half the size of the other served.. Since the steak is what we came for we were disappointed. In addition I asked when reserving a table on-line for a booth and did not get one. There were plenty available and empty throughout our meal - I watched."

  • "Had read reviews about the decline of Morton's in SF. They were right on target. I would call it over priced mediocrity."
    Dined on 2/9/2014
  • "It is an a-la-carte menu so you pay for everything separately. The offerings are expensive but the food is incredible. I am an ex-Chef and I can cook a great meal but there are just some things you can't do at home. I had the 16oz Rib-Eye and it was cooked perfectly and practically melted in my mouth. Yes, it was $58.00 and that is all that was on the plate but unless you have a 1600 degree oven at home you just can't reproduce it. I took my Wife for her birthday. Unless you have money to spare I would consider this to be a special occasion or vacation dinner out. Worth every penny. The service is excellent."

  • "We went for our anniversary and wow, we received the best treatment! We arrived to 'happy anniversary' glitter on the table, received a free lemon soufflé for dessert with candles none the less. The topping on our night was that the manager/hostess approached us when we were done eating and asked to take our picture, she then framed it for us and gave it to us when we were leaving. It really made the evening special. On other notes, food was great as usual. The waiter went MIA during the meal but another waiter happily assisted us when asked."
