But this location is unique for its cigar-friendly enclosed porch, which has become a political meeting spot. It turns out that both Democrats and Republicans can agree on good meat, good drinks and good cigars, even if they cannot agree on much else. When Congress is in session, it's rare not to see at least one Member of the House or Senate on the porch. Sometimes a TV newsperson or two. And it's not all men, either. I had a business meeting with two people I hadn't met and the host handled my lateness expertly by greeting and seating my guests and getting them drinks. The food was excellent and a real plus was getting to say hello to Rob Reiner who had attended Supreme Court hearings on Cali's Prop 8, and had been at a private function there. We were looking forward to the advertised Steak & Lobster special for $59.99/person that was good thru 2/16/13. When we tried to order it, our server told us they had run out of the specials so we couldn't get the special deal. We were a bit taken aback considering that 1) the deal was advertised thru 2/16/13 & 2) the restaurant had not come up with any alternative deal. It certainly wasn't our fault that you ran out of specials. I had to convince our server to ask his manager what they could do for us. He came back & said he could include the lobster tail for free, or something like that. We still didn't really get the $59.99 deal, but we enjoyed everything.
