A word from Morso - NYC
Morso is a culmination of a life in food and a passion for culinary excellence. Thirty years ago Pino Luongo, brought the then unfamiliar flavors and culture of authentic Tuscan cooking to New York City. With the essence of his homeland at heart and a truly original style of cooking, Luongo shaped the Italian menus and restaurants we consider as classics today. For Morso, his values and passion remain unchanged. Great, seasonal ingredients, skillfully prepared, shared with family and friends. Taking little bites of inspiration from all over Italy and the Mediterranean, combined with Pino's finest signature dishes; Morso represents a quintessential dining experience—authentic contemporary cooking in a vibrant and relaxed setting.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "The fish is delectable. ...fresh and well prepared...the pastas yummy. However on a steamy summer night, they had the door open to feed the diners sitting outside so it was uncomfortable and sticky inside, the tables are so close together that you have to strategize how to navigate to the restroom, the service was very slow (we got our meal an hour after ordering) and it was too noisy."

  • "Like a cafeteria for the Sovereign. We can say on the spur of the moment...let's go downstairs for dinner. The ambience and staff are amazing. Always feel like I am at home."

  • "Food was good--my friend had sole which was excellent. I had a pasta a la vongole--a bit disappointing. The clams were out of their shells and tasted rubbery, but the pasta itself was delicious. Salad was terrific."

  • "We have found Morso to be very consistent and delicious each time we dine and this week did not disappoint. We sat out on the ample patio--cool and shaded on a nice evening--and enjoyed our courses all at once since we had our three-year-old with us (a good diner, but you don't want to chance it). The menu has changed since we were there last and we found the Tagliolini alla Buttera to be particularly delicious. Rich but not overpowering with just the right mix of sweet and spicy sausage. The carciofi salad was also perfectly acidic. And the house-made ricotta and popovers that they bring when you sit down are always a crowd pleaser. For the neighborhood, the price is not outrageous and we are sure to return again and again."

  • "This was such a disappointment due to a party that was scheduled. We could not hear ourselves talk. The manager was inexperienced and not gracious. She just acted like it was too bad that we could not hear ourselves talk. Dinner was a good deal of money. The manager should have offered us something to give us the incentive to come back. But she was too inexperienced to know how to be gracious."

  • "Outdoor dining is very nice except for the traffic noise coming from the bridge. Will definitely try for lunch. Don't know why it isn't listed in Zagat."

  • "Love the wall graphics, food and menu terrific, wait staff on time and not intrusive. Especially like that they don't tell me their name and that they're my server. I already got that."

  • "Always a consistently fine meal at Morso. "Adult" ambience...no pounding music...so that conversation is a pleasure. Given the opportunity to order smaller (morso) or larger portions of most dishes, makes it possible to try many thing on their menu. Nice outdoor seating with a view of the 59th St Bridge."

  • "Morso has amazing food, great waiters, and a nice atmosphere. Even if it is a little out of the way, it is worth the trip. The only shortcoming is that the greeters are a bit rude. The first thing we heard once the greeter appeared was that one can only eat outside if it is specifically requested when making the reservation and that we could eat at a different restaurant if we didn't like it--and this was before we even said whether we wanted to dine inside or outside. Everthing else was spectacular. If you think you might want to eat outstide though, I guess you should plan ahead."

  • "noise was particularly irksome on Thursday night I was shouting to be heard among the three at my table it really did diminish a terrific meal with our favorite waitress and always appetizing food had a 7:30 reservation no problem with that a very loud group of 6 were nearby, this was the crux of the problem"

  • "apparently what was once a neighborhood secret is no more- Thursday night the joint was jumpin! - I of course am not surprised the food is superb, the service great and the chef/ owner Pino Luongo knows how to extend hospitality to every diner. We had the Cacio e pepe pasta - one of my favorites there and as always it was great and not to be missed is the Timpano - the eggplant wrapped baked pasta - one of the best italian restaurants in New York"

  • "Excellent food with a flexible and accomodating staff make this one a favorite. This time of the year, the patio is great on a summer night. Pasta samplers are fun to share. wine is reasonably priced in some categories."

  • "Great food in a neighborhood that lacks good restaurants. Pleasant outdoor dining space with unfortunate traffic noise from the Queensboro bridge. Morso has a terrific side room for larger party of 8-12 people. "

  • "The menu is improving. Italian specials are unique and the place is comfortable. The appetizers (starters) are amazing, pasta dishes change nightly along with other main courses. Wine list always changes which makes it interesting."

  • "A little noisy. The acoustics in the restaurant make it difficult to hear the person across the table."
    Dined on 5/12/2014
  • "If you would like to wait over an hour for an egg, french toast, and salad or beg for bread while waiting- you deserve Morso. What made the experience worse is that instead of being apologetic or accommodating-they were defensive and resistant to the idea that it was their responsibility. Oh and the prices were REALLY high-we were there on Mother's day and were forbidden from ordering off the regular menu. Bottom line-never again."

  • "Morso is located on 59th St between Sutton Place and First Avenues. We live on Sutton and find it provides consistent good food and service. We and our guest went to the movies on 60th and 3rd, Cinema 1,2,3 and then walked to Mirso for a lovely casual dinner. This is a great neighborhood gem. "

  • "After years of innovating so many trends here in the city, Pino always delivers "The Big Night". Quiet little Morso sits in an unpretentious area just below the 59th street bridge. Pino us there every day doing what he does best- delivering great Italian food. I had lunch there yesterday, it was quiet but steady and my food was perfect. Bravo "

  • "Pino Luongo, the original Tuscan in the kitchen, has done it again. The man behind Il Cantinori, Sapore di Mare, Le Madri, Cocco Pazzo and others has brought his superb Tuscan cuisine to Sutton Place. For those of us who live in the area, Morso is a godsend. For those who don't, it's well worth the price of a cab ride to come. The area doesn't lack for terrific Italian restaurants--Scalinatella, Primola, the late Bravo Gianni's, to name a few--but Morso is at the top of my list."
