A word from Morso - NYC
Morso is a culmination of a life in food and a passion for culinary excellence. Thirty years ago Pino Luongo, brought the then unfamiliar flavors and culture of authentic Tuscan cooking to New York City. With the essence of his homeland at heart and a truly original style of cooking, Luongo shaped the Italian menus and restaurants we consider as classics today. For Morso, his values and passion remain unchanged. Great, seasonal ingredients, skillfully prepared, shared with family and friends. Taking little bites of inspiration from all over Italy and the Mediterranean, combined with Pino's finest signature dishes; Morso represents a quintessential dining experience—authentic contemporary cooking in a vibrant and relaxed setting.Continued

  • "Pino has outdone himself on this one! Friendly neighborhood spot with great food and an easy ambiance. Love it!"

  • "Pino Luongo, the original Tuscan in the kitchen, has done it again. The man behind Il Cantinori, Sapore di Mare, Le Madri, Cocco Pazzo and others has brought his superb Tuscan cuisine to Sutton Place. For those of us who live in the area, Morso is a godsend. For those who don't, it's well worth the price of a cab ride to come. The area doesn't lack for terrific Italian restaurants--Scalinatella, Primola, the late Bravo Gianni's, to name a few--but Morso is at the top of my list."

  • "Excellent all around, The starter specials were particularly tasty and the wine was well paired by our waiter. Pasta incredibly fresh and the octopus and calamari both cooked just to the point of succulence. Definitely worth a visit and a return"

  • "Saturday night special: meat lasagna…best ever. Sette grain salad & faro salad outstanding. Pino knows food."

  • "The place can be a little pricey ($200 for 2 with starters mains and wine). But worth every penny, and every course! The food was exquisite. We had a tuna tartare starter that combines the best of ceviche with Italian food. Mains and dessert was great as well. The server was attentive, full of suggestions, and just mastered exactly the right combination of anticipating what we'd need when we needed it, but being entirely inconspicuous for the rest if the time. Will definitely go back again!"

  • "The food and service were excellent. In addition, every other Monday they have a band with jazz singer. They serenaded me for my birthday and gave me their CD. It was really a memorable birthday. The owner came over and wished me a happy birthday personally. Overall great experience and delicious food. I love the choice of having half and whole portions. We still managed to eat too much."

  • "Mediocre at best. Warm salad was served on an ice cold plate Affagato was served incorrectly a scoop of vanilla ice cream not gelato in a Martini glass luke warm espresso followed 5 minutes later. The soup was tasty but to much thickening"

  • "We are thrilled to have Morso in our neighborhood. The food is rustic yet sophisticated, the starter of ricotta whipped with goat cheese and the popovers is crazy good."

  • "We went there for home made pasta and it all worked out really well. We had 2 specials - lobster spaghetti ( and there was a lot of lobster! a lot!) and creamy truffle fettuccine. Calamari al forno was an appetizer. Pasta sauce was not overpowering, home-made fettuccine was perfect. Service is good there. The place itself could be a bit nicer decorated and updated. the chairs are comfy but peeling of some places, etc. There is a very nice view of Queencboro bridge."

  • "right up to the moment we entered the restaurant the reservation system was showing no availability for that hour. Yet the restaurant was only about 20% full, and remained hat way all during our dinner.. ."

  • "We spent our first Christmas Eve dinner at Morso.. And I can assure it will not be the last. The food was exceptional.. comforting without being too heavy. Everything was prepared to our exact specifications. A truly delicious meal. I can't wait to go back!"

  • "For more than a decade we celebrated Christmas Eve at Centolire, and wondered what to do this year now that Centolire has closed! Thankfully we found Morso and couldn't have have been happier! They have the same incredible Spaghetti Rustica that my wife dreams about, and they made an Osso Buco that was as good as any I ever had at Centolire which means it was better than any you'll get at any other restaurant, anywhere! While Centolire was around the corner, and Morso is a cab ride away, we had such a pleasant evening we'll definitely be back many times before next Christmas Eve!"

  • "Pino Luongo continues to deliver true Italian regional specialities with flair. Not a red sauce in sight! The setting is comfortable and welcoming and the service attentive, friendly and professional. Pastas are well done with the Bucatini Cacio e Pepe perfect. Salads are generous and the kale salad with paoched egg and pancetta just right, as was the puntarelle salad with anchovies. The most popular with our group was the grilled octopus appetizer. Everyone enjoyed a well prepared veal milanese topped arugula, chopped boiled egg and potatoes. For dessert, the cheesecake was light and fluffy and as good as it gets. Morso can be unreservedly recommended."

  • "I can only be a broken record here because the experience at Morso is the same every time -- great find. Pino Luongo is an old pro. He is a host, a chef, a little dramatic and he has, obviously, repeat diners. Everyone at Morso is friendly and knows what they serve. We had a great Timpana (special on Wednesdays unless you ask for it in advance), Dover Sole, chicken, Osso Buco, four different salads. Pino let's you bring your own bottle for a reasonable corkage fee. We didn't even get his signature popovers and left smiling. Always smiling. Go eat there"

  • "And outstanding service. From the warm, beautiful hostess who greets you and takes you to your table, to the fabulous decor of the restaurant, right on through wonderful wait staff and deicious food, Morso is a New York gem. I gives Eastside dining the flavor of an different, more glamourous time."

  • "Morso feels new and fresh while so many of its long-established northern Italian counterparts now feel dowdy and oldfashioned. This extends to the food, which includes all the classic recipes, beautifully prepared with fresh and colorful ingredients, and simply presented. A huge plus is the ability to order small or large portions of most dishes. The wine list is mercifully short, mostly Italian, and refreshingly affordable too. Servers are helpful and attentive, but never suffocating. If your favorite East Side Italian has become a bit of a "wrinkle room" in recent years, try Morso instead!"

  • "Thumbs up all around! A warm greeting from Chef started off. Most pleasant experience in food and service. I will definitely go back and back"

  • "The food at Morso is ...excellent! Now, we need to try our hand at some of Pino's recipes in his famous cookbook!"

  • "This restaurant is a true find. Everything you could want in an Italian restaurant, delicious pasta dishes prepared in both traditional and new creative ways, great and unique appetizers -- even the bread and special cheese butter is unique. The ambiance is a great combination of dimmed lights, funky, fun and sophisticated decor and a very comfortable atmosphere. Neither formal nor casual this is just the right mix. The service was outstanding, from the friendly hostess to the accommodating wait staff. The best part is the price -- for NYC to get all that you would expect to have to pay top dollar but this is a very reasonably priced restaurant that delivers on all counts! Highly recommended you won't be disappointed."

  • "I find the restaurant to be a very warm, enjoyable place to eat. Not noisy and frenetic. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful."

  • "We returned to Morso on a busy Saturday night, but they honored our reservation and seated us in a timely manner. As always, the service was friendly and professional. The rabbit and pork chop were superb, as were the appetizers and a well priced bottle of Montalcino. This is a restaurant that has improved with time as it has settled in as a Sutton Place area standout. It's a bit far East for some, but well worth the trek! We look forward to our return to once again sample the culinary creativity of Chef'/Owner Pino Luongo."

  • "Great location.. Met our son for brunch Saturday morn Lovely ambiance, wonderful food, (cauliflower soup with green peas was outstanding!!) Each of the entrees we ordered was delicious as well. Three of us shared the tirimasu for dessert.... Quite possibly among the best best I've ever tasted! Add to that fine service, attentive service and you get a wonderful Satuday bunch experience!! E will definitely trend for dinner!"

  • "I have been here multiple times and am usually quite satisfied. This visit, however, I ordered pasta carbonara because I had wanted it for weeks, and got a pasta bathed in oil; no egg whatsoever. It simply was another dish altogether. And the small portion of the starter I ordered was literally huge....service was lagging as well. I was offered no cheese for my pasta. When I finished my glass of wine, I was told there was no more of that and urged to drink another from the by the glass list, all of which were more money. Just not a great nite."

  • "Pino Luongo is the host I always want to be the guest of. He makes you feel welcome, encouraged, special and feels warm and sincere. His menu is rich in options and seasonal. Last night we had the autumnal salad and (perhaps) the final heirloom tomatoes of 2013. He agreed to make the Wednesday night special Timpano (baked pasta with eggplant & mozzarella and other treats) on Thursday night. We enjoyed roast chicken, duck (wow) and salmon. He was unwilling for us to skip dessert and sent two to the table. I go back and back because the food and the staff and the chef are first rate."

  • "Returned for a third time and agreed to have the boss order dinner for the four of us. Heirloom tomatoes, fresh pasta in a sublime rag sauce, warm popovers accompanied by Morso's private ricotta stock, calves liver and then Pinot selected two slices of their cakes to close out the night. His selection of Luna wine was excellent for this meal and the price for the evening (two hours of fun) was a steal. Go and let Pinot select your meal."
