Morimoto's contemporary Japanese menu infuses traditional dishes with Western ingredients and preparation techniques. His seasonal and ever-changing selection of raw fish preparations will feature the best seafood that the Hawaiian waters have to offer as well as locally grown fruits and vegetables from supporting farmers. Morimoto's signature offerings include Toro Tartare, presented in a shallow wooden tray with condiments including Osetra Caviar, crème frâiche, wasabi, avocado, shiso leaf and dashi-soy and Tuna Pizza made with raw tuna, anchovy aioli and jalapeno as well as Morimoto Sashimi, a terrine of seared toro, smoked salmon, barbequed eel, tuna and hamachi served with five different sauces in pipettes. Diner Reviews
  • "I took my mom here for her 60th birthday. We had spectacular service - our waiter was attentive without being overbearing - he was sincere and calm - the food was perfectly portioned, prettily presented and served at the right pace."

  • "Food was great. Got the soft shell crab maki among other things.. amazing. Good view of the marina. Outdoor seating can be a little toasty for an early dinner in July. The wait staff was extremely attentive and even mopped up after drink condensation rings every few mins. They are also more than happy to provide drink, dinner and dessert recommendations if asked."

  • "This experience will always be remembered. The ambience is so peaceful and relaxing, the view is phenomenal, The food is to DIE for, and the service is exquisite. I never expected any service like this coming in as locals from the island. I would definitely recommend this fabulous restraurant to my friends an family. It is a bit pricey but so worth every single cent!"

  • "The food was fresh and delicious. Service and staff is best in Hawaii. I requested for an outside seating and they actually read the special request on Open Tabel. 5 STARS all around!"

  • "My fiance and I took my mother out for a lunch to celebrate our recent engagement. There was no better way to celebrate than to enjoy a meal at Morimoto's! It was a pleasant surprise to find out that the restaurant would validate valet parking without charge, given its neighborhood has very limited street/public parking options. The highlights of the meal were definitely the hamachi tartare, with its beautiful presentation, and we all enjoyed our entrees (pork belly, braised black cod, and ishi yaki buri bop). The tableside presentation for the buri bop was well-executed - this dish stole the show! Dessert was also tasty (we chose the peanut bombe and trio of ice creams). We will be happy to return on our next trip to the Islands!"

  • "In every way Morimoto Waikiki delivered. The sushi alone is worth it. They do offer "family style" portions in the form of Combos. Just go. Relax. Enjoy."

  • "As Iron Chef fans, we were quite excited about eating at Morimoto's. They were very accommodating as we had decided to walk there and arrived early. It was very quiet at lunch, service was great, food was great, but not particularly outstanding or memorable. Except for the ice cream, sherbet for dessert! 8-)"

  • "I took my friend from Japan to the restaurant. We had such a great time before we got the bill. The server brought the bill which already included a 20% tip without asking us. The server might think we didn't know how to leave tip since we are Japanese. I live in Hawaii, but I am Japanese. I would have left a 20% tip anyway, but I feel at least he should ask before. Its so rude and an insulting example of racial discrimination. This left a very bad impression on our entire experience."

  • "Morimoto's was fantastic. We had the 7 course meal and every course was a delight. Our waiter was terrific. Price was very high, but we dined for 2 1/2 hours. It cost us $335.00 for two people!! It's a great special occasion place."

  • "What a wonderful meal! There were 5 of us and we all tried something different. Everything was exactly like our waiter described it. The food tasted fabulous! Service was excellent. We had a fantastic dining experience. We would definitely go back."

  • "We had a large group and had a nice quiet table. Our waiter was the best! Service was great from everyone. He's been there since the restaurant opened. Food was excellent and beautiful too! We had a great sushi chef prepare a large plate of assorted sashimi and sushi. The sashimi plate was decorated with the whole small fish that was used, and after we ate all the sashimi he fried the fish perfectly seasoned, crunchy; I have never had this done before in Hawaii! The foie gras chawan mushi was delicious as were the entrees. My black cod was great and my tasting of the Australian wagyu steak, whole fried fish etc superb."

  • "This restaurant was great. Had the tasting menu and it was totally worth it. Sushi course was amazing so it would be a great place just to go for a little sushi as well."

  • "We had people sitting at two tops that were a got away on either side. Not the place for private, romantic, personal conversation, unless you care to share the details with couples on either side. Attentive professional servers. Food outstanding."

  • "The service was incredible. Our server Andrew was extremely knowledgeable and gave great advice. The sashimi was the best I have ever had and it was presented beautifully. I look forward to going again!!"

  • "Food was beautiful, tasty and creative. Food deserves Michelin stars, service does not. Have eaten at Mesa Grill in Las Vegas and other Michelin star restaurants and this food and ambiance was superior or at least equivalent but not all staff educated in food and to have my soda water refilled seemed to be much more difficult than plain water. Wasn't busy so no excuse. Still said would go again because every item on menu looks tempting."

  • "Great sushi and sashimi. Oysters with foie gras were amazing! Service was excellent- attentive but not intrusive, friendly and took time to explain the menu."

  • "My husband got promoted at work and his birthday was a few days away so we decided to splurge at Morimoto's! First of all, Morimoto himself, was there. Secondly, everything was delicious, food was beautiful and our server was awesome! It was worth every Penny!"

  • "The food was very fancy sounding almost intimidating for me, but I went with the Chef's choice menu and I loved every bit of it. Foods I wouldn't normally order were among my favorites, Like the fois gras and mackerel sashimi. They even asked up front if you have an allergy to food or if you would like to avoid certain foods. To drink I had the Smoking Buddha and it was the most phenomenal drink I've ever had. The elements of tequila and spice made it so delicious. The staff was amazing, so polite and attentive. They were even so nice as to show us how to use some of the utensils and explained which ones would make our dining experience easier. They are a bit pricy, but you get what you pay for. Extremely fresh, filling food and ambiance."

  • "Let me start by saying we are big fans of Morimoto's in New York. The food wasn't even as close to the same quality. It really was disappointing. The shrimp appetizer was soggy and the dumplings lacked flavor. I ordered the yellow tail that is cooked table side with high expectations but it was extremely fishy tasting. The restaurant itself is beautiful and overlooks the harbor. We we able to watch the fireworks at the Hilton from our table. Sadly, this was the highlight."

  • "I went for a special occasion, fully intending to spend quite a bit. What I was not prepared for was the subpar food (none of the 7 courses were impressive) and decent (but not great) service. I would have felt okay of I had spent half as much as they charged, but we left feeling ripped off and very disappointed for what started with high hopes"

  • "Morimoto's is always a great dining experience when in Honolulu. The food is exquisite and bursting with flavor. The portion size is very good relative to the price and you will not leave hungry. This time the dining room was a little on the hot side but that has not been a problem before. We will be back each time we are in town."

  • "Loved our recent dining experience at Morimoto Waikiki. We tried the chefs tasting menu and every dish was delicious and unexpected. From the sashimi tuna starter to the most amazing surf n turf, it was truly heaven for the taste buds. The ambience and decor in the restaurant is beautiful with green ascents and beautiful coral sculptures hanging in glass boxes from the ceiling. Many people dined outside on the terrace with the warm Waikiki sunset as a back drop, and children were also enjoying their Keiki menus. The wine list is extensive. Would recommned this restaurant to anyone."

  • "Morimoto's is located in a very nice setting overlooking the Harbour. The food is very good, well presented (particularly the sashimi platters) and well portioned. There is a good wine list and the staff were helpful and attentive. The highlight is the outdoor seating area if you can get one (which we did) and overall it is certainly worth a visit for a nice night out."

  • "This is a top notch restaurant. The staff is very polite and professional. Food was outstanding! I went with the chef's recommendations...clearly the best decision I made all vacation. The white fish carpaccio was the best thing either my wife and I have ever had the pleasure of eating."

  • "Had not been back for dinner in years since Morimotos opened. The restaurant is showing it's wear. White Menus are dirty and falling apart. Tables are chipping. The place looks tired. Definitely needs a refresh. Food was good, but pricey. 6 pieces of hamachi was $42. Seafood Tobanyaki $48 and 1 lb keahole lobster $52. Service was attentive but not warm. Overall a good dinner, but if you dined here when they first opened you will be disappointed like I was. "

  • "I absolutely adore sashimi, and had to check out the differences between the Uni and Japanese Uni. There is an extreme difference. While the normal (California) Uni is extremely robust; the Japanese Uni is still excellent, though muted of intense overtones. "

  • "Food is OK, I was expecting more. I would recommend the appetizers and drinks, not a fan of the entree (we had loco moto and lamb). Ambiance and service are excellent. I ❤️ the classy modern design, very unique, it feels like I'm in an upscale restaurant in NYC."

  • "Morimotos is a great spot for couples and singles who appreciate creative Asian fusion food. Fish ranks high on the menu and is definitely the best so don't come looking for lots of meat options. The menu is very creative and well executed. Service is always good and sometimes excellent. Dining outside under the canopies looking out at the yacht harbor makes for a lovely evening. The wine list is not great but very good and our guests always enjoy the cocktails. Definitely a place to bring guests who are forward-looking and also a very nice evening for two. Morimotos is also great for a complete evening out without changing locations -- sunset cocktails near the hotel pool, dinner at Morimotos and then finish in the hotel's club."

  • "Food was very good quality, but a bit overpriced...$15.00 for a glass of Grey Goose - ouch! Omakase was $120 now it's $140 - although it was very good. Dessert of butter mochi was a bit dry and tasteless."
    Dined on 5/21/2014
  • "Appetizers steals the show. A small detail that everyone noticed... renew the menus - they look quite stained and dirty for a Morimoto restaurant!"

  • "This is my third visit to Morimoto. I've had the chef recommended omikase twice. The presentation is wonderful and the food quality is outstanding. It is quite pricey, but a memorable special occasion. We sat inside, but near the door. Since the weather was humid, I'm not sure if we were too close to the door or might have been happier outside. Most people like to sit on the patio for the view, but that can get really sticky in humid weather. "
