MorimotoLove the this placeLet me start by saying the good is delicious but some of the presentation of the food wasn't pleasant to look at. But overall great place to dine.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat ExperienceThe food was outstanding, our waitress was extremely knowledgable about the ingredients and entrees and the portions were more than we expected! Our nine year old son said it was the best Asian food ever!! We will be back in the future!!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMI have eaten at morimotosI have eaten at morimotos many times. Food is generally great. Service our last visit was subdued at discrete. Very nice. I find it sometimes too hurried. Great dining should never be force fed but some blend of American speed but European reserve. We were to have dinner at 9:15 but our plane was late. I asked to slide until 10:00 and we were told it would be 10:15. We arrived at 9:45 and were seated immediately and almost no one came in after us. I have never understood why restaurants feel that need.5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner in styleAs the place is designed in classy Japanese style it feels immediately good if you have people I vited or just a suprise dinner with your girlfriend / boyfriend.
The food is really top and delicious. A great contrast with our dinner in the RAW...
Service was correct and friendly but our botlle wine came a little bit late...
Conclusion: I would like to have my dinner every day in Morimoto :-)5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesomeMy Husband and I are trying to visit each Iron Chef's Restaurant, We have been to Michael Simon's Lola in OH. Morimoto's was a wonderful experience and a true treasure to have in PA. Thanks5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat expreienceThe dining was very good. The prepared meal was what I expected. They did get my order slightly wrong, but caught it themselves and offered extra for it. It wasn't that big a mistake, so I appreciated the attention to it very much.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect serviceI am tempted to say that there is no where else in Philly with service like this. We were stuck on 76 trying to get to Morimoto for our reservation and could not get there. I called from the road and let them know i was running late. We had a table waiting for us and the wait staff treated us like royalty.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBucket listMorimoto's has been on my restaurant "bucket list forever and I was not dissappointed!5/1/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Date SpotMy date and I really enjoyed how knowledgeable the staff was about the food and specials.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious dinner!!!! DJ4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMorimoto, The first feelMorimoto,
The first feel of entering Morimoto is of a club like trendy atmosphere. The tables line the walls for two person seating with the center being occupied by 4+ and the overall feel is trendy and a bit packed. The food was very well presented and quite good. We did the chefs tasting and found it very different and fun! My wife is not overly adventuresome and while there were items she did not care for it was not due to the quality of the food. Even then she finished 3/4 of the portion. Overall very fun! Morimoto was present at the bar eating which was neat as well!4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe omakase is a must-try!The omakase is a must-try! It's a very unique dining experience. Every ingredient was amazing and the execution perfect, from the first to the final course. This will always be the first choice to come to mind when planning for a dinner for special occasion.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMThe chef's tasting menu wasThe chef's tasting menu was delicious and well worth it.4/21/2013 12:00:00 AMOustanding food and service.Oustanding food and service. Highly recommend the chef's tasting menu option paired with the saki tasting menu. Not an inexpensive place, but the food was exceptionally good!! Our waiter was also very knowledgable about all things Japanese including the nuances of the saki and food items.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Incredible Experience...The food was spectacular and the service exemplary! Everything was enjoyed from a signature drink, a bottle of wine, sushi, scallops, and duck-duck-duck. Finished with the chocolate pot de creme (to die for!) and the Irish Coffee Gel (a must try!).4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFantastic! The food was fantastic. We did the Omakase (chef’s tasting) and every bite was a treat. It was a wonderful night out I would definitely recommend it for fans of seafood, Japanese Cuisine and just good food. The staff was friendly and made for a wonderful night out.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFood worthy of expectations,Food worthy of expectations, given the world-class chef's name. Service was very good, if not less intimate than expected. Funky, hip, but very comfortable ambiance, overall great experience.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMBrought wife to the restaurantBrought wife to the restaurant to celebrate birthday. It was my 6th time visiting, and her 2nd. Was seated immediately, and waited on promptly. Suggestions were given, but I think we had already made up our mind as to what we were ordering. Food came out promptly, and when we wanted it (entrees were held until we were ready). Everything was as expected, and then some. Will definitely dine again when I get the chance.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is always delicious.Food is always delicious. We even saw Chef Morimoto at the bar. Highly recommended for anyone who likes modern Japanese food.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWe have been to this MorimotoWe have been to this Morimoto Location about 8 times. It is always excellent with great food and service. Never a complaint.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was a business lunchThis was a business lunch with clients, the restaurant was not crowded so it was easy to talk. The decor is modern with subdued lighting but not difficult to see. The wait staff was extremely attentive, and all dishes were presented in a very efficient and aesthetically pleasing manner. The menu reflects the head chef's interests in Japanese cuisine, and everything was delicious. We all tried the tempura, which was a mix of vegetables and fish with one piece of bacon-wrapped mozzarella, all of which was delicious, and the portion sizes were just right. The miso soup and salad that came with the meal were tremendous, and we left quite satisfied. Given the price range I wouldn't go there all the time, but overall great experience.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe carpaccio was perfect; The carpaccio was perfect; however, the duck preparation was just OK. My main server was excellant but the individual who served my main course just 'slapped' it down on the table and spoke so fast while describing the dish it was difficult to understand.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGo Here!Everything was beyond delicious. Server knew everything about anything on the menu and made recommendations. Save room for dessert.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI felt the omakase lunch atI felt the omakase lunch at $60 did not live up to the price point. The various courses of sashimi wasn't as creative as I would have liked. The sushi was mediocre at best, unfortunately. My dining partners had the lunch set, which I would highly recommend. Our server suggested that they upgrade from the miso soup to the chicken noodle soup, which was delicious. The chicken katsu was quite filling as was the tempura. I would order the lunch set in the future.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fantastic. TheThe food was fantastic. The service second to none. It was an amazing culinary experience I would suggest to anyone.4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThe cocktails were excellent,The cocktails were excellent, particularly the Karai (Jose Cuervo, etc).
The waiter asked for our IDs (we are 23 and 27), which was annoying.
The Kumamoto and seasonal oysters were the BEST oysters I have had in my life.
The seasonal side was a Brussels sprouts and beet dish which was delicious.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe scallops were amazing. The scallops were amazing. But I thought the sushi was pretty run of the mill.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMorimoto is awesome. The serviceMorimoto is awesome. The service is phenomenal. Great teamwork! I live in Houston but have dined twice recently at the restaurant. What a treat!4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMVery pricey restaurant butVery pricey restaurant but the food and service was exceptional.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMOmakase ExperienceThe Omakase was a great way to try some new items that we wouldn't have thought to try from the menu. We were told to expect 6 courses. A couple were truly extraordinary, and a couple were a bit disappointing like the plum soda course (that was the most expensive $10 shot of flavored soda ever). For $80, I expected a bit more ... more courses or more exotic / interesting ingredients. Overall a great experience and would recommend a visit for a date. Really romantic with the ever changing hues of the booth walls.4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMOur second time at the IronOur second time at the Iron Chef's restaurant... We thoroughly enjoyed the Omakase tasting menu and beverage pairings. Brian, our server did a great job for our family of 4. Looking forward to our next visit!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMOur experience at MorimotoOur experience at Morimoto was outstanding! We specifically chose it as a celebratory dinner spot, and it delivered on all measures. My fiance and I were visiting the area, and were wowed by the quality of the food. One of the things I enjoy about fine dining done right is its ability to have you delight in new flavors or textures of things you've had before. Morimoto excels in this area. The batter used in the rock shrimp tempura appetizer was the lightest, and most crisp I had ever tasted. My fiance and I shared the chefs choice sushi platter for $80, and devoured the best sushi we've ever had. (This price point is plenty of sushi for two people.)3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a hit!Morimoto's never disappoints! We've been there several times and the food and service are excellent! They know how to make a special occasion special! We will be back!3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMTasted it unpleasantly theTasted it unpleasantly the next morning. Unlikely to return.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMI had high expectation forI had high expectation for this restaurant base on reviews from open table and yelp and from friends that have gone there. I was kind of disappointed that the food was not as good for me and my three friends that went. Everyone agreed that drinks were good and service was good, but no one was really impress by the food. I thought the rice on my spicy tuna roll was dry, the rock shrimp tempura appetizer was a little salty, the rice and yellow tail in the hot stone bowl was like the bibimbap of the Korean dish, but not as good as the Korean version.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThis place is one of the placesThis place is one of the places I try to bring friends/customers/co-workers to when they visit philly.
If it's busy the service can be a little slow, but it's not a huge place, so that's somewhat understandable.
Last night we were considering desert, but instead backtracked and had the flying fish sashimi instead (we just felt like more fish), and that was a great ending to a great meal.
We ended up having all of the specials, fire squid, skipjack, herring and flying fish..the specials are all worth trying. (in fact the only special over the years that I felt was not worth trying, or worth the money, was some white truffel thing they had on scallops)
The oh-toro we always have to get for the first-timers, and as expected, she was impre3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time visiting. GREATFirst time visiting. GREAT sushi. Wait staff very friendly and helpful. Will try to go again while in Philadelphia this week!3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMorimoto's is a fabulous.Morimoto's is a fabulous. From the moment you walk in the front doors, you are greeted by professionals. The lighting and design ambiance set the tone for what is to follow, a sensational dining experience.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe omakase meal was veryThe omakase meal was very pricey, but it was certainly the way to go to get the full Morimoto experience. From the quality of ingredients (i.e. real, fresh ground wasabi, A-5 wagyu), the freshness of the fish, the flawless execution, and the attention to detail in its beautifully refined, but not overdone presentation, and impeccable service, I felt like a judge on Iron Chef America.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMFood and service were excellent,Food and service were excellent, but unfortunately, we were sitting by a large table that filled with 8 folks, 2 women who screamed and giggled (cackled) so loudly - even the wait staff agreed. We go on our birthday each year, so we know next year to ask to sit far way from the large table!3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful setting, beautifulBeautiful setting, beautiful omakase menu, friendly and attentive service -- an all around great dinner!3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAbsolutely amazing! My husbandAbsolutely amazing! My husband and I were in Philly for the weekend, I am so happy we had the pleasure of dining at Morimoto. We choose the tasting menu. Each serving was a work of art, both in presentation and quality. Loved the city, loved Morimoto!2/15/2013 12:00:00 AMMORIMOTO- Superb as alwaysAlways top notch. This place has it all. Superb food, attentive ,pleasant and knowledgable service all in a wonderful setting. My son and I both had the Omakase. Every course is fantastic. One had the more expensive option to mix it up a bit. Do not think its worth the extra money as the lower priced Omakase itself is not cheap (at $80.00) and it is tough to improve on near perfection in any event. When I can afford it again, we will be back!
Overall, this is among the top 3 restaurants in Philadelphia, if not the best.1/18/2013 12:00:00 AM
