Morimoto's contemporary Japanese menu infuses traditional dishes with Western ingredients and preparation techniques. His seasonal and ever-changing selection of raw fish preparations will feature the freshest seafood available as well as locally grown fruits and vegetables from supporting farmers. Morimoto's signature offerings include Toro Tartare, presented in a shallow wooden tray with condiments including crème fraîche, wasabi, avocado, nori paste, chives, crispy rice, and dashi-soy. Tuna Pizza made with raw tuna, anchovy aioli, and jalapeno; Morimoto Sashimi, a terrine of seared Toro, smoked salmon, barbequed eel, tuna and Hamachi served with five different sauces in pipettes.Continued

When I inquired about the omakase, I didn't have high hopes because usually chefs never like to deviate from their tasting menu. Boy, was I wrong! I was able to have a 9 course meal GF!   • "Really disappointed by this restaurant. The service was poor, we were recommend the sushi special which we went for and were charged double the price on the menu. When we asked our waiter, he said that he had mentioned that prices would be slightly different, which he did not and he certainly did not say why and that prices would be double! After dinner we smelled really poorly because we were sited by the Kitchen. the food was good but nothing really extraordinary, the portions were small. Highlight: Uni carbonara"

He moved his chair to the side of the table so we could have a conversation without constantly asking to repeat what was said. The food was very good but so salty my lips were burning.   • "As fans of Iron Chef America we were delighted to find that this restaurant more than lived up to it's reputation. The service was truly exceptional. Our server was delightful and helped us to navigate the vast and wonderous menu! We found every member of the staff pleasant and down to earth. As we were making purchases in the bakery afterward a charming member of the kitchen staff suggested the blondies (delicious!) we discovered later we had actually met head Chef Kang! Truly an amazing experience!"

  • "We ordered the Omakase [oh mah kah say] or Chef's choice. Omakase is a Japanese phrase that means "It's up to you" and Morimoto did not disappoint. All though it was pretty much a standard offering to all who ordered this way, i could tell that Morimoto was at the heart of the presentation - just exquisite. We were asked about food preferences also and my wives courses were slightly different as she does not eat red meat. I will be ordering this again the next time I go. As I looked across the room, no one had near the experience we had as the courses were delivered. The wine pairings the server brought were spot on also."

  • "Very creative & impressive menu. Amazing food, from appetizer to dessert~~ Loved everything we ordered. Kakuni portion is small, but the meat just melts in your mouth. Duck meatball soup also has amazing flavor. Yuzu soufflé has special aroma, if you like sour stuff, you will love it. Would like to go back to visit again and try different dishes."

  • "Sadly, we were sat on time for our reservation. Waiter came 20 minutes later. Offered no help on the Sake menu. Drinks came 10-15 minutes after ordereing them. Sake flight dropped without explanations. Came back 5 minutes later to explain and take our order. The Sushi was the same you could get at any other good Sushi place. I had expected something more creative or fantastical. Waited 25 minutes for the dessert menu at the end of our meal. All in all the waiter gave us zero value as a table, the food was nothing extraordinary, and the hour forty-five minute time it took for our dinner was not necessary. We spent more time waiting at our table than eating at it."

  • "I really enjoyed dining here, the food was great, the waitress Rosa was friendly, knowledgeable and the food came out timely. I like to try a number of itmes going for small plates to get a variety. I had uni, snapper (two types), unagi, the pig ear dumplings, house salad and the bone marrow. It was excellent, unfortunately, I was too full for dessert. I would defintely go back and tell my friends to try it out."

  • "It is such a shame this place is RIDICULOUSLY NOISY because for the most part the food was absolutely spectacular. Of the 5 dishes we ordered between the two of us, 3 were spectacular, 1 3very good, and 1 a letdown (because it was a hot halibut dish that was cold.) The most notable of the three truly impressive dishes was their version of tuna tartare - a visual feast for the eyes and a taste sensation for the palatte. I would even overlook the cold dish (we could have sent it back) if the place was not so difficult for a conversation. We even had to ask the waiter to stoop down to speak with us because it was so noisy. Keep in mind the place was also only maybe 30% full so I cannot imagine what it would be like with a full house."

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful time. This is our second time going and we had the set lunch. Food was beautiful to the eyes and delicious to the mouth. We had the fatty tuna tartare that came with a variety of toppings with a fun shaped spoon that allowed us to mix and match the tuna. We could have a different taste for each bite. The kobe beef tartare was amazing flavors too. It's a place not to be missed."

The food preparation at the table was artistic as well as adding an extra touch to excellent food ingredients. The sushi was fresh and delicious. We had Alaskan Halibut, cooked in a flavorful mushroom broth at the table. The flavors were distinct, yet complex. Iishi yaki buri bop was also prepared at the table by stirring the fish rice and vegetables in a bowl that had been heated to 450 degrees. The flavors melded excellently. The service was what one would expect from a restaurant of this stature. The waiters were knowledgeable and helpful. They were also attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommend restaurant for a special occasion."

My Lady had the asion version of chiopino and it also was great. We started with fresh oysters that were very fresh. I would go back to Morimoto any day. Our experience could not have been better."

  • "If there are seats available, I prefer to dine at the bar. Vibe is trendy yet upscale. Scene is "see and be seen". Service is friendly and professional. Drinks are always skilfully mixed and well balanced in flavor. Food presentation is striking and spectacular. Every time I've dined here, at least one dish I order (ishi yaki buri bop and kama) gets an, "Ooh, what's that?" from a neighboring bar-fly. Rarely have I encountered a dish that I sufficiently enjoyed but wouldn't order again. Great deals on industry night and great place for late night eats."

  • "It was my first time going to the restaurant and had high expectations given Morimoto's reputation and was not disappointed. Not only was the food delicious, especially my dessert, but the service from the staff was amazing. There was always someone there to attend our table and each waiter/waitress was enthusiastic in describing our meal. I took my brother and his wife there for his birthday lunch and they were very impressed. The ambiance was very soothing and comfortable as the restaurant wasn't overly crowded. Definitely will be back for the Lobster noodle soup and S'more dessert."

  • "This was the third times I had dinner at Morimoto in Napa. The menu is generally about the same and there are no surprises. We have ordered the bone marrow hot appetizer. For $16 there was only about 2 tea spoons of the marrow with mostly bread crumbs on top. I could not even have even to get the taste of it. The side (green beans) was the first item that arrived before the appetizer. It got cold when we had our entrees. It is a little disappointing."

  • "It was way beyond my expectations! Food was excellent. Service is outstanding. Being a sashimi lover, we ordered the Chef's Combination and its really picture ready! it looks really pretty and its really fresh. you can really tell the difference between a regular sashimi you order in some japanese resto, but Morimoto's were just different. Its really fresh and so good. Also the wagyu, oh my gosh... it will melt in your mouth. the most meaningful wagyu you will ever have in your life. really a winner. Then we also had the bone marrow which is absolutely heaven. lobster wonton soup is also the best pho broth you'll ever taste. Smore's dessert is just love. Morimoto went above and beyond our dining experience! Worth every penny."
