Morimoto - NapaExcellent service!Excellent service! Waiter was friendly and answered all of our questions. We had dietary limitations so the Chef created a special tasting menu for us! :). Delicious!!!!!6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacularWe have been to Morimoto twice, and the meals have been absolutely spectacular. The Omakase provides a wonderful sampling of the menu for those who have a tough time deciding, and every dish is stunning in its presentation and taste. It is truly a wonderful dining experience.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Birthday Lunch Ever!Impeccable food in generous portions, attentive service, unpretentious atmosphere, impressive attention to detail. An all-around excellent dining experience.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMNiiiiccceee!!!!!My husband and I recently visited Morimoto in our first date night as a married couple. We had a wonderful time. The food was amazing! The dessert was out if this world! Presentation was fun and fancy! Wouldn't take kids here, but great for a small group or date nights! It's expensive but sometimes it's nice to splurge. I did feel like we were sitting very far away from each other, especially given the higher voice level, but we made it work.6/14/2013 12:00:00 AMamazing foodThe food was fantastic. Must try the Japanese Kobe beef. Very loud dining room, not a romantic setting. Tables too close together.6/13/2013 12:00:00 AMFreshest Sashimi everThe presentation on the Sashimi platter was gorgeous and the selected fish were at their freshest.
We also enjoyed the Wagu beef carpaccio with the yuzu dressing. The tempura calamari matched nicely with
the salad but wished there were a little more salad.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWaygu beef carpaccio is amazing!!Waygu beef carpaccio is amazing!! Tuna melts in your mouth!!!!6/11/2013 12:00:00 AMBirthday DinnerTried Morimoto Napa for my GF's birthday dinner. Went in expected over priced food in tiny portions and figured I would have to stop by the burger joint on the way home. This was not the case. More on that later.
Service: Service was excellent. Wait staff here is very professional. Our drink glasses were never half depleted, and our table never had an empty dish on it. Very prompt and quick. Our waiter was very forthcoming with information regarding the menu and drinks. Made some very nice saki/food parings.
Food: Food was very good. We decided to try things that were a little more unique such as the sea urchin Cabonara and bone marrow. Every thing came out in a timely fashion. I did not leave hungry!
Great place6/10/2013 12:00:00 AMHamachi Taco Heaven! We had a great lunch at Morimotos. I've been to the NY restaurant and thought the experience was phenomenol. The napa version is definitely laid back in comparison. That bring said, the food was still sublime and the Toro Tartare rocked. But I have to say, outside of sushi samba in NY the Hamachi Tacos cannot be touched. Each one was two bites of heaven. It's pricey, but a really great way to kill a couple of hours.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMA Favorite!Morimoto is such a favorite restaurant that we order the same items time and again; we barely look at the menu which is a shame because there are many exciting entries.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMover the topafter a day in calistoga, decided to make our first trip here. my wife and i love great food and great experiences and this exceeded our expectations. my company does customer service F&B training for global full service and luxury hotel brands - so a bit spoiled. also just returned from touring great restaurants in france - we agreed this topped most of our french experiences. will return often. highly recommended.6/9/2013 12:00:00 AMJUST AMAZINGSerious foodie here and every single plate was a taste explosion -- couldn't be happier!6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMMorimoto's - All I hoped for!Wonderful food, great service! ordered both tasting menus (1 for me, 1 for hubby) and shared. tasting menu is a great way to experience many favors and dish varieties. Next time, can narrow choices to favorites. Now, if we can only get Morimoto to open in LA! Mmmm6/6/2013 12:00:00 AMwe love this placewe love the food here but unhappy with the noise level.
this time we set outside by the river and it was perfect. even the food taste better.6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMA Napa Must!My wife and I loved the relaxed feel of the restaurant. Great food and excellent service. My wife enjoyed the Duck Duck Goose. The Black Cod I had was absolutely delicious! We recommend trying their signature Toro Tartare...it was outstanding!6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing spicy king crab legsAmazing spicy king crab legs & toro tartare. Need I say more?6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMWhen we mentioned where weWhen we mentioned where we were staying they gave us Proseco and a mini appetizer.6/4/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat overall experienceIt starts with a great location and then on to the inside with the amazing décor. The food was fantastic along with so many great options. We had great service from Crystal who narrow down the menu for us. One of my favorites in the valley.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautiful ExperienceThe food was outstanding and the presentation & plating was even better. It felt like such a treat to receive each perfectly arranged and adorned dish. We were very impressed. Our server was a little off but the hostess and foodrunners were excellent. A little on the expensive side but certainly worth it for such quality ingredients and attention to detail. Gorgeous decor as well.6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMdecent service, loudthe atmosphere was quite noisy in the service from both of our waitress and attendance was slow and lackluster6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMMorimoto - Napa is a must!Great food, great environment, beautiful restaurant. Great experience. GREAT food!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMPhiladephia Restaurant betterMy experience with the Philadelphia restaurant was so excellent with the food and service that my expectation for Napa was the same. The $120+ chef's surprise in Philadelphia was beautifully presented and did not include any soup. The Napa Valley restaurant was disappointing in that Won Ton soup was served and to their credit, they did take it off the bill and brought another soup, duck meatball. I feel that at $120+ soup is not an option.
The best part was the octapus - beautifully presented and we both enjoyed it! The serving staff were very friendly, explained everything and answered questions.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything we thought it would beMorimoto Napa was everything we hoped it would be and then some. We tried as many dishes as we possible could and savored each and every one. We were also glad to see that Morimoto was in the kitchen himself and he created a few special dishes that night that we enjoyed. I don't think there is anything bad to say. Morimoto is a true restauranteur and it shows from start to finish.6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome. Just Awesome.Crispy Whole Fish. Toro, Hamachi, Unagi, Ice Cream Sandwiches... just go and try ANYTHING. Great cocktails too!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfection is the only wordPerfection is the only word I can think of to describe my dinner.5/30/2013 12:00:00 AMInteresting experienceAlthough the sushi was good it was way overpriced. The sushi chefs did not interact and although we were seated at the sushi bar a waitress took our order and delivered our food. We may as well have sat at a dinner table.
I'm glad we went once, but we won't be back.5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMHeavenly SushiWe visited Morimoto during a vacation getaway to Napa. It was our Anniversary and i couldn't think of a better meal for our celebration. The cocktails at the bar were creative, fun, and delicious. Dinner was a delicious adventure from bite 1. We started with the Rock Shrimp and then the Himachi tacos, both excellent! We moved on to (hands down) the best sushi we've ever had; seriously fresh and scrumptious. The night ended with rock star desserts. I had the S'more and my husband had the Donuts. Both were special treats for our eyes as well as our bellies. Yummy!! I would recommend Morimoto to anyone looking for a special dining experience. You won't be disappointed!5/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing timeI loved Morimoto. The service is excellent , I love how they explain what they are serving you
and the waiter is always on top of things. The food was amazing, those spicy King crab legs
melt in your mouth and we order the tempura prawn delicious.
The lobster and vegetable were to die for and to top it off with the s'mores at the end
was superb. I definitely would recommend it .5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazingIt was a special occasion so we went all out. I ordered the rock shrimp appetizer, which was addicting and the wagyu beef which was the greatest thing I have ever had, ever. My Fiance ordered the seasonal multi-course tasting, the food that came out looked beautiful and tasted absolutely perfect. We can not wait to go back.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMIron Chef ExperienceGot a beautiful table by the window with a view of the river walk. We were adventurous with our choices and shared dishes. Everything was noticeably fresh and well thought out. Staff very knowledgeable about sake list, food, and preparation.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMPricey, but a memorable experienceMy boyfriend and I tried the omakase original $120 and the omakase modern $160. It was really fun and tasty to see all the different preparations of food... a great experience for foodies and sharing. Definitely different from anything you'd get in a typical restaurant... Lamb carpaccio, black truffle mayonnaise, wayagu beef, and a grapevine with cotton candy! My only problem was that I was full by the 3rd course and could barely eat my halibut & mushroom soup, the wayagu beef and fried kale, or the yuzu pearls and coconut cream dessert! I should have paced myself better! Next time I think we'll just split one omakase for two.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAs expectedAs good as expected from an Iron Chef's restaurant.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGood food. The food was extraordinary. Between three adults and one child we shared the rock shrimp appetizer, the scallops, a salad, a 16oz prime rib, the black cod, a dish of lamb, a spicy tuna roll, and some potatoes. Everything was very good and the staff was full of information. The prices were shocking at first, but the portions are generous and for an average of about $60 per person it was worth it.5/24/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food!Loved the shrimp tempura, which came in 2 different sauces with a ranch dipping sauce that made it even better. The morimoto sashimi was also a great appetizer that was not at all what I was expecting but turned out to be fun & delicious.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent restaurant experienceExcellent restaurant experience - helpful, personable service, impeccably prepared food, and a relaxing clean aesthetic to the restaurant design. Nothing but good things to say.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMElegant and creative dishes,Elegant and creative dishes, beautifully plated, leaving you satisfied and in anticipation of the next visit.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMorimoto NapaMorimoto Napa was incredible! If you go, you MUST get the tuna pizza as an appetizer. It is delicious. The cocktails were a little strong for my taste, but overall a really great dining experience.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMYummi sushi...The restaurant with a renowned Iron Chef's name on it delivers fresh seafood from Japan every 48 hours. While pricey, the experience is not one that can be had at any restaurant. While the ambiance was somewhat sterile, the service and the food were stars. We decided to rely on our waiter to recommend all of the dishes and he did not disappoint. Everything was spot on taste wise and the recommendations did not feel like he was pushing a certain dish. Great cocktails (we opted not to have wine as we had visited several wineries earlier in the day). Expect to pay for name, but the food was worth it.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMMarvelous, just marvelous Darlin. It was a surprise for my husband for his birthday. He loves Morimoto's cooking shows on TV. It was just what he was expecting. I also loved the food and the ambience. Our server was very knowledgeable.5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDestination restaurantThe food at Morimoto is most definitely Iron Chef worthy. I ordered the Modern Omakase (tasting menu) and every dish was beautiful and delicious - great flavors and textures skillfully presented. The accompanying wines were generally quite good as well. Service was sometimes a bit off - as when one wine came after the course it was intended to accompany. Servers were friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu and wines being served. As I looked around at what other diners were getting, there seemed to be and endless stream of great looking plates, towers sushi and maki. Morimoto's is definitely worth a visit if you are a fan of Japanese food.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMixed Reviews for Morimoto NapaUnlike my first visit, my recent lunch at Morimoto Napa did not wow me. Their sushi was a highlight, but my main dish was not good at all. My server was apologetic for the missteps in timing and food preparation. I was pleasantly surprised when the manager also came over and apologized, because I didn't make a big stink or anything. He took the lunch set off my bill. Thank you, Morimoto Napa. I think the next time I come, I'll get an assortment of sashimi or make sure I return for dinner, where I can get a tasting menu.5/19/2013 12:00:00 AMCreative dishes, fresh sashimiWe went for lunch so I'm not sure how the menu differs from lunch to dinner, but the food was excellent - they have very fresh sashimi and unlike many Asian fusion restaurants actually do a good job with fusion dishes. I had the uni carbonara which seemed a little suspect at first but it turned out to be amazing.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMawesomeHad the spring amakase with paired sake...was exceptional on all levels. That wagu/kobe 5a was off the hook.5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMTop-notch serviceOur server was truly excellent, she made the whole experience for us. The food was OK; the concepts and execution were more toward the PF Chang-end of the spectrum than I would have expected; portions were small for the money.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMHighly recommend the crabHighly recommend the crab appetizer. Delicious and spicy! This is a place you can easily share dishes. Not good for a romantic evening. Very loud.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMMorimoto never disappointsHaving visited Morimoto in Philadelphia and New York, we knew that Morimoto Napa would not disappoint. On a gorgeous Napa evening, we sat outside and enjoyed the weather. The service was excellent as were the menu selections. The hamachi tacos were out of this world as was the uni carbonara. The ribeye was among the best steaks I've ever had.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMNoisy, and underwhelmedI was expecting Morimoto, the Iron Chef, artistry of plating, but our menu did not meet that expectation. Lobster /short-rib soup was delicious. Another hot appetizer (fried abilene cherry tomato-like balls) was not tasty, and was disagreeable. The waiter thankfully removed that item from the bill. The yuzu dessert with lavendar ice cream was very good. Overall, a noisy place but worth a visit if you are a fan and want eclectic menu choices. Would not necessarily visit again though.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing experienceGo for the tasting menus to truly take a look into the genius' minds in the kitchen,5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMBetter than Morimoto in PhillyIn essence the Napa location has the same menu as its sister restaurant in Philly. But, overall, I enjoyed the Napa location more mainly due to the physical location. The Philly restaurant is located in a marginal area of downtown, whereas, in Napa the restaurant overlooks the river. The service, in my opinion, was also better at the Napa location, The food, however, was outstanding in both locations.5/15/2013 12:00:00 AMAMAZING!Our experience at Morimoto - Napa was amazing! I was extremely excited to dine in a such a well-known and talented Chef's establishment. The food, drinks, dessert, and service were all stellar. This restaurant is highly recommended!!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AM
