Diner Reviews
  • "Each dish was to die for. Hand made non-alcoholic drink with yuzu that was just out of this world. Best "kaiseki" like dinner I've had ever!"

  • "One of the best meals we've ever had. The rock shrimp we're amazing and the angry chicken was as good as advertised."

  • "I got wagyu carpaccio and shaved pork banh mi (with spectacular sweet potato chips), and a piece of kasutera for dessert. My spouse got a lunch combo with chef-selected sushi bits, tempura (with great yuzu yogurt dip), and uni soba carbonara, which was rich and flavorful. Both also came with side salads -- greens and radishes (including watermelon radish, which is always fun), bonito flake, kabosu vinaigrette. Cocktails were well-balanced, especially the Darjeeling (curry vodka, black tea, coconut milk). I kinda regret not taking home some sweets from the shop up front. The prices are a little spendy relative to what's delivered, but not totally unreasonable -- innovative, interesting fare, and the best sushi in Napa County."

  • "Awesome dining experience. I would definitely go again."

  • "This is a very well known spot with creative dishes and lots to admire. The feel of the place when you enter is that of a bady run cheese cake factory with robotic staff who are neither glad to see you or seem to care. We were walked through a mostly empty raining room to the table in the back with zero ambience. We complained and were told the other tables were for reservations. We reminded them we had booked weeks ago on open table. Food was ok and overall to expensive for the disjointed service. "

  • "Although my wife is not comfortable eating raw fish, she did try it. The Angry Chicken was very good and the spicy ribs we had for an appetizer alone was worth the visit, outstanding. Service was top notch. I had the beef teriyaki and which very tasty. The sushi rolls, salmon, and yellow tail were presented very well and tasted very good. If weather permits, sit outside and enjoy the view."

  • "Very good dinner! The Rock Shrimp was amazing!! Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu & the specials. Most of the staff was friendly and worked well together to keep us happy. We will be back!"

  • "Went to Morimoto's for my wife's birthday. We sat at the sushi bar and put our selections in the hands of the sushi chef. He created a very colorful selection of items, many of which we had never tried. It was a wonderful experience. The shashmi was complimented by an excellent bottle of sake."

  • "I took my cousin here from San Diego, she ordered the angry chicken (aka) angry bird. It was super spicy with a cumin spice flavor. The sushi was good, the dessert was fabulous...next time I will have to get my own and not share. The drinks could be bigger and stronger. We were content we finally dined at Morimoto in Napa for the ambiance. Whenever I make the trek up from SF, I will dine here again for entertaining sushi with a lively atmosphere."

  • "Went to celebrate my 30th birthday. It was amazing. Sake was delicious. Sushi was fantastic. Sorbet was astounding! Great meal!"

  • "My husband and I went there for our Anniversary. We had the best dinner. Anthony was the best server and spoiled us rotten. We will be going back soon"

  • "Morimoto Napa staff were very knowledgeable about GF items on the menu. When I inquired about the omakase, I didn't have high hopes because usually chefs never like to deviate from their tasting menu. Boy, was I wrong! I was able to have a 9 course meal GF! For the $, I expect great service and Morimoto did not let me down!"

  • "Really disappointed by this restaurant. The service was poor, we were recommend the sushi special which we went for and were charged double the price on the menu. When we asked our waiter, he said that he had mentioned that prices would be slightly different, which he did not and he certainly did not say why and that prices would be double! After dinner we smelled really poorly because we were sited by the Kitchen. the food was good but nothing really extraordinary, the portions were small. Highlight: Uni carbonara"

  • "beautiful setting but overpriced for the amount and quality of food"

  • "We were very excited about going, restaurant is beautiful, service and presentation are great. But we ordered sushi and sashimi, the yellowtail had no flavor and the texture was a turn off. The donuts for desert were great, but the bartenders can not make a cosmo, tried twice."

  • "Morimoto had great atmosphere. Sit outside if possible! WAY TOO LOUD in restaurant, I could barely hear my partner. He moved his chair to the side of the table so we could have a conversation without constantly asking to repeat what was said. The food was very good but so salty my lips were burning. Not necessary to add so much salt!"

  • "As fans of Iron Chef America we were delighted to find that this restaurant more than lived up to it's reputation. The service was truly exceptional. Our server was delightful and helped us to navigate the vast and wonderous menu! We found every member of the staff pleasant and down to earth. As we were making purchases in the bakery afterward a charming member of the kitchen staff suggested the blondies (delicious!) we discovered later we had actually met head Chef Kang! Truly an amazing experience!"

  • "Food was amazing. Service was ok..server didn't know really what to recommend us on the menu and was not really around much to take orders he was in a rush to leave and would disappear on us."

  • "Service was great but after that the rest was overrated, over done, and way too loud to enjoy dinner.everybodytalked this place up but we left unimpressed. I suggest passing on all the hype and go someplace less trendy with less plastic patrons."

  • "This restaurant has incredible food, ambiance and service. It's a bit out of my area but I still feel it's worth the drive. If you want to share a romantic dinner, celebrate or even want to hang out with good buddies, this is a great restaurant to do that."

  • "We ordered the Omakase [oh mah kah say] or Chef's choice. Omakase is a Japanese phrase that means "It's up to you" and Morimoto did not disappoint. All though it was pretty much a standard offering to all who ordered this way, i could tell that Morimoto was at the heart of the presentation - just exquisite. We were asked about food preferences also and my wives courses were slightly different as she does not eat red meat. I will be ordering this again the next time I go. As I looked across the room, no one had near the experience we had as the courses were delivered. The wine pairings the server brought were spot on also."

  • "Very creative & impressive menu. Amazing food, from appetizer to dessert~~ Loved everything we ordered. Kakuni portion is small, but the meat just melts in your mouth. Duck meatball soup also has amazing flavor. Yuzu soufflé has special aroma, if you like sour stuff, you will love it. Would like to go back to visit again and try different dishes."

  • "Sadly, we were sat on time for our reservation. Waiter came 20 minutes later. Offered no help on the Sake menu. Drinks came 10-15 minutes after ordereing them. Sake flight dropped without explanations. Came back 5 minutes later to explain and take our order. The Sushi was the same you could get at any other good Sushi place. I had expected something more creative or fantastical. Waited 25 minutes for the dessert menu at the end of our meal. All in all the waiter gave us zero value as a table, the food was nothing extraordinary, and the hour forty-five minute time it took for our dinner was not necessary. We spent more time waiting at our table than eating at it."

  • "We really had a good time at this celebrity chefs restaurant. An expensive restaurant but we were on vacation so we decided to splurge. Very cool presentations"

  • "I really enjoyed dining here, the food was great, the waitress Rosa was friendly, knowledgeable and the food came out timely. I like to try a number of itmes going for small plates to get a variety. I had uni, snapper (two types), unagi, the pig ear dumplings, house salad and the bone marrow. It was excellent, unfortunately, I was too full for dessert. I would defintely go back and tell my friends to try it out."

  • "Went here yesterday for my Mom's Birthday Dinner. Service was excellent !!! Staff were very friendly. Food was very good with a few that i find a bit salty and very sweet."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "Powerfully flavored food! Amazing dishes that had us trying to narrow down options. It may have been helpful if the waitress had a little guidance toward fitting dishes. I felt like I was basically going out on a whim instead of focusing on a type of dish to pursue."
    Dined on 3/28/2014
  • "It is such a shame this place is RIDICULOUSLY NOISY because for the most part the food was absolutely spectacular. Of the 5 dishes we ordered between the two of us, 3 were spectacular, 1 3very good, and 1 a letdown (because it was a hot halibut dish that was cold.) The most notable of the three truly impressive dishes was their version of tuna tartare - a visual feast for the eyes and a taste sensation for the palatte. I would even overlook the cold dish (we could have sent it back) if the place was not so difficult for a conversation. We even had to ask the waiter to stoop down to speak with us because it was so noisy. Keep in mind the place was also only maybe 30% full so I cannot imagine what it would be like with a full house."

  • "too long to be seated after a reservation time. Service waiter was less than satisfactory. He talked me out of the dessert I wanted..no sales skills"

  • "Excellent food, sushi, drinks. Superb service and a great place to end the day after wine tasting."

  • "My husband and I had a wonderful time. This is our second time going and we had the set lunch. Food was beautiful to the eyes and delicious to the mouth. We had the fatty tuna tartare that came with a variety of toppings with a fun shaped spoon that allowed us to mix and match the tuna. We could have a different taste for each bite. The kobe beef tartare was amazing flavors too. It's a place not to be missed."
