  • "This place was fantastic! Ordered bone marrow app and baked lobster. Out of the world! All of us had wonderful creative fresh food. Highly recommend!"

  • "We went for a graduation brunch - and had heard wonderful things. And while the service was a bit lax (even in a seemingly empty restaurant), the food was very good, and the actual restaurant is gorgeous. There was live music, which we didn't mind because the 2-person group was actually a nice compliment to the meal, though that may not be for everyone. Portions were generous, but on the expensive side, which you almost expect if you're going to lunch in Beacon Hill. Really, our only complaint (if any) was the service - the hosts seemed a bit cold, and a little snooty, and the waiter didn't seem particularly happy to be at work on a beautiful sunday afternoon - but apart from that, we really enjoyed the variety of options we enjoyed."

  • "Excellent service, huge wine list. Great steaks! Better than some of the "BIG" name steak houses, but always good to support local businesses."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner, foods was outstanding, fresh & very high quality. Knowledgeable staff. Interesting menu."

  • "I ordered my fillet well-done which I know is frowned upon, however, the chef manage to deliver a tender piece of meat. I will definitely return to Mooo."

  • "The staff at Mooo got us seated earlier than our reservation (after the show we saw got out early). They accomodated my every request, including menus without prices to make my parents more comfortable. They were helpful and acccomodating but did not hover. Damon and Carlos did a great job with our service. Every dish we had was great, but the chilled shrimp, New York Strip, Bananas Foster and the Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble were certainly the stars of the evening. We had a wonderful evening and will certainly return."

  • "Wow--what a wonderful find! It is now one of my favorite restaurants. Here's why: The ambiance is very relaxing, the chairs are very comfortable and have high backs, and the reception is very friendly and pleasant. The service was excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious! It was beautifully presented and the quantity was perfect. We had the Kobe dumplings and sirloin carpaccio for appetizers and the kale salad and Vermont salad as entrees. Because we had plans right after dinner, we couldn't eat a big meal, otherwise I would have tried one of the delicious sounding steaks on the menu. Next time, which will hopefully be very soon. I definitely recommend Mooo without hesitation and can't wait to go back myself!"

  • "We tried Mooo for the first time on Sunday for Brunch. Previous reviews where very complimentary about the quality of cooking and service. I have to say the food was excellent, my only comment was the Corned beef hash was very wet, unlike any I have tried before in that it lacked the intensity of being fried, there was a lot of stock. The corned beef it self was tasty. Not a complaint as the every Chef has the right to but their own interpretation to a dish , even a classic one as this. The service attentive and very pleasant. The bill was great value even with the 5 Mimosa's ( very refreshing) The live music was just right. My wife and I decided we would go back for dinner soon Excellent, high recommend this Restaurant."

  • "Steaks were decent, but not outstanding. Since this is part of the XV Beacon Hotel, they really need to offer a kid's menu. Service was acceptable, and overall we had a pleasant experience."

  • "This may be my 5th or 6th time at Mooo... This time around it was for my 30th birthday and my girlfriend took me for dinner. As always the service was excellent and the food was superb. Each experience at Mooo... gets better and better and it was an outstanding dinner. Can't wait until the next time!"

  • "One of the best steak restaurants in town. I tried the prime dry aged ribeye and it didn't disappoint. The spicy and sweet calamari is so heavenly. The staff are so nice and very helpful. A little noisy but not bothersome. I expected it because there were so many people dining and having good conversations."

  • "My mother-in-law is extremely picky with food/service. But you know what!?!?!?!? She loved it or specifically she loved the Lobster Omlette. Must order!!! She couldn't stop raving about how much lobster you get. She finally gave in and spoke about how calm and relaxing and elegant the place looked."

  • "I decided to take a group here as a last minute Father's Day celebration. The food was fabulous, with rave reviews for the lobster omelet. The wait staff was friendly and attentive and the live music added a touch of elegance. Although we found the noise level to be higher than expected, we enjoyed the experience. I can't wait to come back"

  • "I had eaten lunch with a couple of people at Mooo before this large (10-person) dinner and had no issues with the service. At dinner, while the food, particularly the beef of various cuts, was excellent and commented excessively on by my guests, they also commented that our wait staff was a bit unfocused and missed a lot of attempts to get their attention for little things. As well, the staff did not explain certain unique items, such as the marrow-garlic-butter that was served with some of the dishes. I wish my comments could have all been as positive as about the quality of the food. Maybe next time."

  • "The staff was very duplicitous and quick to make amends. The food was either too fatty or the spinach was tasteless"

  • "You will not leave hungry or disappointed after ordering any of their steaks. Don't miss the vegetable flight! The linguine and clams was also a hit!"

  • "Having come to Mooo for dinner before, I knew we were in for a great meal. I was pleasantly surprised to see an amazing pre-fixe price for a meal -- $25. The quality of food was certainly no less given this great deal. They even provided a high-chair for my 10 month nephew. It was a great meal with great service."

  • "I thought that the venue was fantastic. Everyone was so helpful throughout the experience. As a small restaurant, the conversation flowed throughout the room which was a distraction. `` I was disappointed in the cocktails and then wine list. I ordered my date a Grey Goose gimlet and it wound up being some lime juice, undrinkable cocktail. The choices for cabernet sauvignon, on were extremely limited."

  • "Pricey and worth it. Every drink, appet, and entrée was exceptional, as well as delicious sides. Service is polite and attentive. Steak is the main attraction, but my scallops were meltingly delicious. The restaurant décor could stand a refresh, but still lovely. Our guests thought it was the best meal they had ever had."

  • "I read all the raves and tried the beef wellington and it lived up to my expectations. Service by Jeff was extraordinary. He was extremely professional and knowledgable. It was a wonderful experience."

  • "Let me start off by saying the food was phenomenal. This was my second time eating at moo and I couldn't be happier about the steak and sides we ordered. Everything was perfect. What I couldn't believe was the number of patrons playing around on their cell phones during dinner! Mooo is a nice steakhouse and this completely ruined the ambience. There were 12 people we counted at 5 tables all on their cell phones simultaneously. The restaurant is dimly lit which only further pulls attention towards the flow of iPhones and droids. I find this extremely rude and something management should not allow. I understand maybe not everyone has manners, but I am 26 years old and was coming here to celebrate a promotion and cell phone use bothered me. "

  • "I visited Mooo for Easter Brunch, and it was outstanding. The food was so great, and there were so many choices! Unfortunately I live out of town, but will definitely visit Mooo again whenever I come back to Boston. "

  • "Came for dinner on a Sunday evening with my daughter. We had the carpaccio for our appetizer - delicious. We each ordered the 9oz fillet. They were both grilled to perfection. Who knew bone marrow butter was so good?!? We still ordered bearnaise which was exquisite, but the butter alone might have been enough. We tried the Mooo...Side Flight and recommend it. You get 4 smaller servings of mashed potatoes, creamed spinach, truffles fries and sautéed mushrooms. Not a fan of spinach, but the others were tasty and a fun way to enjoy multiple sides. Of course, we ordered way too much food, but what remained packaged up nicely and will make another delicious meal."

  • "As a relatively recent steak eater, I don't have much to compare Mooo to.... But if I did, I'm sure Mooo would come out on top every time. I was virtually transported to another world when I tasted the Filet Mignon (8 oz, medium rare). It was cooked to absolute perfection. The Napa Cellars cabernet sauvignon was a beautiful wine, which complemented the chocolate cake for dessert perfectly. David was a fantastic server who answered all our questions and was sweet mannered. I could not have hoped for a better meal to celebrate my anniversary. Well worth the price. Thank you, Mooo...."

  • "My husband and I spent a very enjoyable evening at Mooo. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and at the end of our meal, Ken the very personable manager stopped by our table. He spent the time to answer our questions about the decor( specifically the large shaded chandeliers ) and the history of the building. For dinner we had a selection of East and West coast oysters, fresh and delicious, followed by a NY strip steak for my husband and beef Wellington for me. The Wellington was done perfectly rare as I had requested, and was truly the best I've ever eaten. My husband's sirloin was excellent. The soft, muted decor was comfortable and soothing and the placement and spacing of tables was conducive to private conversation."

  • "Actually, OVERpricey wine list--food is good and worth the value for a solid steak place BUT the wine list KILLS YOU---to get a nice bottle plan on 75 MINIMUM and more like 85-100....nice wines but totally marked up---as long as you are OK with this, this place is great....btw, Kyle the bartender is one of the coolest dudes I've met in a long time (rare for these types of places)--get a drink from him and if you're lucky, he may tell you a bit about himself...."

  • "I was quite disappointed. The am ience was lacking, the acoustics were horrible and the food was only mediocre. I felt that there was too much emphasis on trying to be eclectic and my palate was assaulted by too many herbs and spices that did not complement each other. It was a caucophy of aromatics. I enjoyed the quality of the filet I ordered but everything else left much to be desired. I would not visit this restaurant again. Additionally the noise level was so high, and it was after 10 pm, that I could not hear my date nor could I hear the wait staff when they came to the table."

  • "Mooo is consistently the finest restaurant in the city. Sure you can pay a boat load of cash to have the finest steaks just about anywhere, but the service is what sets them apart. If you have a special occasion to celebrate (this was my graduation from law school), trust that their staff will take care of you. I can't always afford to dine at such fine establishments, but at least with Mooo I feel as though my dollars are well spent."

  • "If service was better, it would've been a great lunch. A 20 minute wait to put in our food order is much too long on a weekday. We were attended to by the hostess and busboys more than our waiter. On the bright side, my steak tenderloin BLT sandwich was massive and delicious. I packed up 1/2 and accidentally left it in my friend's car - unfortunate for me but lucky for her. She warmed it on her panini press the next day and enjoyed it very much."

  • "We were celebrating college graduation and were not disappointed. We were there for lunch and wanted more than a casual lunch. We had an excellent experience. The food, wine, service was all right on for a fabulous and special lunch celebration. Great ambience."

  • "Thoroughly enjoyed Mooo for our family graduation dinner. Excellent steaks cooked perfectly and a delicious assortment of side dishes. Our party each ordered a different steak and all were delicious and served sizzling hot. The marrow butter was a delicious accompaniment - no extra sauces needed, though a variety offered."

  • "We had never been to Moo before and went for a celebration dinner for our daughter's graduation. Everything about the evening was PERFECT. The staff was friendly and accommodating, the food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the calamari which was probably the best I have ever tasted. In addition, the Kobe dumplings were equally as good. The steaks were all cooked perfectly, I had the beef wellington which was to die for! It was large enough for lunch the next day and just as good the second time around. "

  • "The menu here is that of the usual steakhouse, but with a 20% surcharge for its apparently being "cool" or perhaps well-located. It is presumably independently owned, but the Morton's and other alternatives provide both an experience and food at least as good. If you are unthinkingly prejudiced against them and have cash to burn, go to Mooo. "

  • "It was my boyfriends 29th birthday and I wanted to bring him to a good steakhouse, not a chain like Flemings, Smith & Wollensky ect. I work front desk at DoubleTree- Downtown l and I remember a guest from Texas telling me he had the best steak ever at Mooo. Since then wanted to try it out. Our waiter was very personable, we had a lot of fun with him and knowledgeable of the menu. The ambience is perfect, I loved how it was not stuffy and decor is a 10! Between starting with the oysters, a delmonico, fliet and sides of mac n cheese and fries (calories were not being counted) we walked away very happy with all choices! I will absolutely be back and continue to send guests! Thank you for a wonderful experience! "

  • "My wife and I went here before going to a show downtown. The food was excellent and the staff was prompt without being over bearing. All the food was excellent, though the quality is reflected in the cost. Well worth the money and we plan to go back next time we are in the city."
