A word from Moonstones
Created by the owners of long standing restaurant COBBLESTONES of Lowell;
Moonstones is named for the pearly moon-like precious gem and oyster native to New England. Moonstones celebrates global bonds—the moon, the sea, the love of food, wine and revelry. We invite you to celebrate with us the worldly influence in all elements ranging from our local, creative raw bar selections, to our tapas
designed for sharing life with friends in mind, to the bread we bake fresh each day to accompany our ‘crostini’ selections. Our creative cocktail menu draws inspiration from various international favorites, as does the carefully selected beer and wine list.
Our design seeks to promote celebration, or just relaxation, in a local, sophisticated atmosphere to chill with friends. Think global, eat local.

    This is a good one for a special occasion. The menu is not ordinary, the waitpersons are friendly and attentive, and there are many choices of both food and wine.Great to find such a high-level, albeit pricey, restaurant out in the 'burbs.

    We had a fantastic dinner at Moonstones. The food was great, and our waiter was very helpful. He happily answered any questions we had and was attentive as well. All in all, I would recommend Moonstones to anyone! Great food, service and atmosphere. We will definitely be back!

    Food was delicious but a bit pricey for Chelmsford. I felt rushed - which I didn't feel was right when spending over $100 for 2 people and having 3+ courses. It even says on the menu that you are limited to 2 hours - kind of tacky for such a nice place.

    For a fine dining experience I would give it a mixed review. Food was very good, portions expected to be small but satisfying. No bread was a disappointmnret after the servier told us how great the foccacia was. One dish with one squirt of butter for four diners. Waitstaff hovered and took away cutlery before our meal was finished. Had to ask for a fork several times and dishes for our chateaubriand.

    Although the food was melt in your mouth delicious, it was very very expensive for the amount that we received. The entrees did not come with anything, the appetizers barely enough for one person. I had to feed my husband when we got home. The service was great, our server was very helpful and attentive. Place was nice but I would only return if someone else was paying. Too expensive for Chelmsford

    The table was too small for 2 couples making it ackward when we were served the very good Seafood platter and their specialty wings also very tasty. The Paella for 2 all though plentiful with nicely cooked seafood the rice was inconstitant in texture and we found it under seasoned in both salt & saffron. The owner came over and introduced himself at the end of our meal and provided us with the history of the restaurant and agreed that the table was too small for 4 and gave us a card to call ahead next time and to drop his name for a better table! Being only their 3rd month I would give them a second visit.

    I'm a Chelmsford resident and had been hearing that Moonstones' environment is wonderful, the mixed drinks are fabulous, BUT it is pricey and the food is okay - nothing to rave about. Quite a few people said they wouldn't go back. We also found that the "unique" menu items were reliant on explanations from the wait staff - this could be a detriment to the meal if the wait staff can't describe an item correctly. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive, but was too chatty - we heard all about her family. I think the chef/owner needs to focus on improving the food and providing more options per meat choice (e.g. poulty, fish, meat) for this restaurant to achieve a solid customer-base.

    I met a friend that I hadn't seen in some time. We were seated in comfortable living room chairs in a corner of the dining room where we could catch up and enjoy each others company privately. Our server, Gretchen, could not have done more for us. We never, ever felt rushed which I find to be rare in todays restaurants. She is superb, most definately an asset to your establishment. It was a most enjoyable time and I will return. P.S. The Martini's were fantastic.

    Very high priced for the quality of food. Told waitress I did not eat meat. I ordered an appetizer and when it arrived, it had meat in it. When my main course arrived, it was very small, salty and not very good. Manager took it off my bill. Would not go back or recommend this restaurant. Place is beautiful and good for getting together with friends only for a drink.

    Its nice to see a place like this in my hometown. Til now we had to travel out of town to find food an drink comparable to Moonstones. The menu is extremely diverse and we plan on returning many timesto sample there numerous offerings. We smapled everthing from Oysters and Salmon Service to Skewers of Bison. each was tasty and presented well. The service was excellent and our server very knowledgeable and friendly. We were seated in what I feel was the best seat in the house. (we are keeping this to ourselves). I Highly recommend Moonstones to anyone. Its patrons were as diverse as the food. its anything and everything you wish to make it. Dress up or dress down you will feel comfortable either way. Its a gem.

    We are thrilled to see a new, hip, NON-CHAIN restaurant plant some seeds in Chelmsford. We visited Moonstone's during their first week of being open for business, and are confident that they'll work out the kinks. The pros: - The decor is absolutely stunning, down to the last detail. - The staff is very friently. - The "small" plates are delicious. The cons: - When you walk in the door, you don't know where to go, and the scary hostess lurking in the corner leaves a lot to be desired. - Weren't seated until 30 minutes past reservation time. - Our entrees were almost unedible - halibut that was as tough as a hockey puck, and a ribeye that was literally raw. Bottom line: great place for a drink, and the yummy small plates.

    The food was just ok. One of the appetizers we got (some sort of fish stick) was actually horrible and we couldn't eat it. The water tasted like it had some sort of chemical in it and we couldn't drink it. The buffalo calamari tapa plate and the halibut entree were pretty tasty...although the rice served with the halibut was very bland(tasted like plain old white rice) and the bok choy was just ok. The ribeye was just ok and the fries were good. Drinks were good too. Very disappointing for the amount of money charged...$92 for 2 meals, 2 tapas, and 4 drinks. Since we went the first week of opening we may try again to see if the food improves but not any time soon. Cobblestones is much better!
