  • Private Party Facilities: moonstones offers two semi-private and private dining areas. Just removed from the action of the lounge, our semi-private Chef's table is well suited for parties of six to eight. Whether you prefer to order our numerous tapas and crostini selections in a continuous flow, or sit down for a traditional plated meal of filet and lobster this area is ideal. Our front room is also an excellent space that can comfortably seat up to twenty five. In addition to selecting an assortment of small plates to start, family style cuisine is prepared to order. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our banquet manager and we can work with you to plan the perfect event for any size party or occasion.

We invite you to celebrate with us the worldly influence in all elements ranging from our local, creative raw bar selections, to our tapas
designed for sharing life with friends in mind, to the bread we bake fresh each day to accompany our ‘crostini’ selections. Our creative cocktail menu draws inspiration from various international favorites, as does the carefully selected beer and wine list.

  • "My husband & I have been to moonstones several times since it opened, but this last trip was the worst by far. Our waiter was very nice/attentive, but two of the servers were rather clutzy, spilling part of a drink, sticking his band aid thumb in it & leaning in rather awkwardly, maybe it was an off night. The food was not as good as we've had in the past. I also noted in the reservation that it was my birthday so I'd hoped we would be sitting at a nice table, nope bar scene near 20sumthings in tshirts. My DC friends were not impressed & I was bummed at the decline in the experience at Moonstones. Def not worth the $ that night. :("

  • "We've been to Moonstones many times. The food is always good but, service a bit slow. This time a lot slower at first. The waiter suggested pita bread, hummus etc. while we wait. The wait for THAT was very long. They apologized, said that the batch was over cooked and a new one was coming. Hmmm, maybe. Just getting a glass of water took forever as well. My guess? They don't want to hire more staff. Ok, I'll go less often. Great asian pear drink. Wine list with no years! -bleah. The oysters were excellent. Service improved with our food. The waiter was doing his best to be very correct. My steak frite was over salted, borderline but by the time I finished it that is what stuck in my mind. The others were happy with their plates."

  • "The service was a tab bit slow, it was almost 30 mins for our bottle of wine to be delivered to the table without any acknowledgment of the delay! The manager was great about ensuring one of our guests allergy needs were met, this does not go unnoticed when you are concerned about a reaction! Overall, we did enjoy the very slow paced dinner experience. "

  • "We typically frequent the sister restaurant Cobblestones in DTL, but this was our first time at Moonstones. Different ambience, clientelle and atmosphere with a raw bar, lounge and dining area. The lounge being the largest area, abutting both the dining room and raw bar. Neither of us were feeling adventourous and didn't venture to try anything other than the Rib Eye and the Filet. Both were exceptional cuts and cooked perfectly. A positive expereince, will return to try some other dishes when we are feeling a bit more spontaneous."

  • "Moonstones is a good restaurant for the area it is in. The menu is a bit pricy for the portion size so I would not recommend them for the big eater. Can be romantic if you request the upper dining area. My biggest problem with moonstones is the very very small cocktails for top dollar. Management needs to fix this. A margarita in a small glass, mostly ice cubes for a top dollar price? Smallest margarita I've ever seen. Overall I rate them good for the appetizers and the raw bar. "

Loved our cocktails and the food was kinda sort Asian fusion, but with enough variety on the menu that someone wanting more traditional fare would be happy to eat there. Loved the romantic table for two in arm chairs. Perfect for a TH night out when we wanted to talk."

  • "Went for an early dinner with a small group before an event in Lowell. No crowded at all (at 5:30pm). Took a while to be acknowledged by server, but after that she was very attentive. Knew the menu well, had tried all the specials. Kids next to us were noisy and seemed out of place at this nice restaurant. Overall room we were in felt a little crowded and maybe a bit too noisy. Otherwise good ambiance. Tapas were great - I highly recommend the peppadews if you like goat cheese. As a vegetarian my options were limited but I was able to find a few things, and one of the specials was vegetarian as well, which almost never happens."

  • "The owner is a nice guy, and he has established two decent establishments in Lowell and Chelmsford. Chelmsford really needs a place like this. But sometimes the food is just off. My wife's salad, an off-the-menu special, was really boring and a poorly executed mix of cooked and fresh vegetables. My pork chop had a gloppy sauce that wasn't mentioned in the menu description and also had a lot of fat, albeit with perfectly cooked root vegetables on the side. Our server was cheerful and attentive. I just wish that the quality of the food would be more consistent."

  • "In Chelmsford, MA,near the NH line, Moonstones early (6:00 p.m.) on a Friday night: sophisticated ambiance; top-drawer quality of service. Adequate table spacing -- though we wished for a partition to separate us from five ladies enjoying themselves at top volume nearby. Menu is interesting, rooted in northern Italian, but varied; supplemented buy monthly specialties from around the world. Wine list is limited, emphasizing the lower end of the price range, and very short of French offerings. Our yardstick, Veuve Cliquot Yellow Lable champagne, was (1) available (good), but (2) priced at $90, well to the high side of the usual double the liquor-store price (bad). Service well above average, and a gracious welcome from a manager (owner?)."

  • "If the prices at Moonstones were cut in half, the restaurant would still be overpriced. A few days earlier, we dined at Morton's in Boston...a four course meal was less per person than two courses at Moonstones. The meal itself was good, and the service was excellent, but that does not make up for the much inflated prices. Atmosphere wise, it is dull and drab. Yes, I was there on a Monday evening which isn't the busiest for any restaurant, but it seemed that the only "action" was a few people at the bar. I really can't find a single reason to return. It was a great disappointment."

  • "Once I opened the door to this restaurant I seemed magically transported to some hip eclectic place that one would expect to find in a major city. The energy in the place was upbeat and by the looks of the other diners it appeared everyone was having just as good as a time as my date and I (my wife and I were celebrating our 16 years of togetherness). In retrospect I would have preferred to dine on the "quieter" side of the restaurant to enjoy my meal then move toward the bar area for drinks and socializing. We sampled a variety of small cold and hot plates (8 in total) and I enjoyed the special of the evening. From start to finish, pure perfection. The food, drinks and dessert were impressive to this couple of foodies!"

  • "I had been looking forward to Moonstone's for a long time after reading their menu but the food was mediocre at best.. We ordered small plates and asked the waiter to spread them out in time but he brought them all at once so there was no room on the table. Lamb Chop appetizers were curled up meat that was mostly fat, Carpaccio was the smallest portion I have ever seen - four pieces instead of a typical dozen and no capers, Gambas Ajillo was really just shrimp in garlic butter - no shaved garlic that is typical in Spanish restaurants and the shrimp were large - unlike typical Gambas Ajillo. Parking was difficult."

The noise level is highly dependent on where you are seated - some of the seating nearer the bar can be very loud. I was a bit disappointed in the wine selection of sparkling wines, given that we view this as a special occasion restaurant."

  • "We went for dinner on a snowy Saturday night for my mother's birthday. It was packed, as it was Valentine's Day weekend. Our server, Chris B. was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, friendly, and super attentive. The only complaint I would have is that our food was lukewarm at best. I will definitely be going back again, maybe on a not-so-busy Saturday!"

  • "My daughter in law lives in Chelmsford and was dying to try this restaurant. My, her, her sister in law, and mother in law went. Loved the win, atmosphere, drinks, and food were fabulous. We loved the sample desert, the little dishes are 4-6 bites. We order the beets, fries, bread with garlic. It was a dining experience with great drinks and lots of laughs. The server Cheryl, was very helpful and knowledgeable about the dishes and drinks. My son feels it is not enough food for him, he wants prime rib when he eats. But, us ladies will be back..."

  • "Based on reviews I read online from several sites, I made a reservation at Moonstones for a party of six. The reviews were spot on. Everything was fantastic; the service, the menu, the food, the drinks and the atmosphere. Despite getting increasingly busy as the evening wore on, was never rushed. The variety was a pleasant surprise with a tapas menu and a regular menu. Moonstones gets two thumbs up and a spot on my list of favorite restaurants."

  • "The every item on the menu looked appetizing. The food we ordered was great. I liked the idea of the DIY Bloody Mary bar, but the area was messy and some items ran out. Also, the Bloody Mary mix ran out and we had to wait. We also had to stand for a while and try to get the bartenders attention to shake them up for us. It seems like they could have had another bartender and more waitstaff. This is why I gave only a 4 for service."

  • "I have been to Moonstones in the evening many times before but this is the first time I went for Sunday brunch. I was delighted. I was surprised when a waiter brought an amuse bouche. At places where you get such a surprise treat, it is often just one bite of something, but this was a little bowl of cubed cold cooked winter squash, with a few raisins, granola, and a dab of unsweetened yogurt. It was yummy and really a whole first course. I ordered the exotic mushroom, spinach, and cheese frittata and a side of smoked ham, which as all excellent and I would definitely get it again. The staff refilled my coffee cup 3 times and offered a 4th. I didn't partake but there was a fun Bloody Mary bar, with your choice of ingredients and garnishes."

  • "The meal was very expensive without drinks. We each had water. Three scallops cost way too much money! Waiter suggested we needed it with what we ordered. Very disaapointed in that dish. When they asked if we wanted hummis at the beginning of the meal we thought it was complmentary with the olives like most restaurants. We did not expect to be charged with what is usually complimentary at nice restaurants. I gave everything the highest rating on open table because other than the cost of the meal everything was excellent. Disappointed with the scallops because literally it was three scallops on a plate and no complimentary bread or hummus while we waited for our meal. Just water. Great atmosphere and wonderful attentive waiter."

  • "My wife and I decided to go with the Tappas and eveything was excellant. Our table was not ready at the time of our reservation, but they bent over backwards to take care of us, bring us a drink and keep us informed of our table. We probably waited another 15 minutes, no big deal. Towards the end our waitress disappeared and although she was lovely we had to ask for the check and we probably would have had another drink or dessert, but didn't want to wait. This was the only problem keeping this from getting 5 stars. I would recommend it."
