MoonrakerView View View Yum Yum YumI came here for my anniversary, had happy hour, two doz oysters and a couple of drinks at the bar, yum! Then moved onto our dinner table right in front of the window with a perfect view of the sunset. The view was breathtaking, sunset was beautiful that day. The food was spot on. We pigged out. I wanted to try everything while waiting for the sun to set. We had the Portugese steamed clams-yum, the ahi tuna moon spoons-yum, I had the scallops-yum, the hubby had the lamb shank-yum! We didn't leave any room for dessert but they gave us a nice on the house dessert with the happy anniversary written in chocolate, nice touch. Service was friendly and fast, everything was perfect. I would definitely recommend!6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was an excellent choice. My wife and I traveled from San Jose ca, to try first time, and after first time we decided to return with the whole family.
This place is not expensive, food was delicious, service was excellent, great live music, view was wonderful, I did surprise my wife and she love it.6/8/2013 12:00:00 AMA must!!!Here is our food list!
a) arugula salad with candied walnuts and goat cheese (excellent, fresh greens and shavings of apple!)
b) Manila clams in charizo sauce (amazing especially with the smokyness of the chorizo)
c) The chef special oysters (This was alright.. I compare to hawg island oysters so maybe it's not fair!)
d) clam chowder (amazing!! They use whole clams in there chowder! It's a must!)
c) bread (grilled with butter! )
d) Lobster club with bacon and avocado...Also fries in duck fat with fresh thyme (enough said!! :) )
e)Seared Scallops (buttery and well done!)
The waitress was wonderful chatting a bit about the food and the histroy of the place! Plus she gave us a complementary dessert . Wonderful experience thank you moonraker!6/5/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent Brunch! This is one of the best brunches on the Peninsula. We went to the Cliff House recently and were disappointed as it was not as good as the Moonraker. The Moonraker has a great seafood station with oysters on the half shell, peel and eat shrimp, dungeness crab, and smoked salmon. Two great homemade soups, lovely fresh salads and fruit, a carving station with two meats, all the breakfast staples you could desire including made to order omelettes and waffles, and great desserts and pastries. One of my favorite features is the bottomless sparkling wine or mimosas for $10. But the absolute best feature is the incredible view of the ocean at Rockaway Beach in Pacifica. Every table has a breathtaking view of the gorgeous ocean. Definitely try it!6/2/2013 12:00:00 AMAwesome View of the Pacific OceanOne of the best ocean view dining in the San Francisco Bay area. We got seated at the far end of the restaurant for a romantic dinner and almost felt could touch the waves! The food and service were great too!6/1/2013 12:00:00 AMA Perfect EveningI was a big fan of the old Moonraker and am now a big fan of the new Moonraker. I had the New York steak which was cooked perfectly. And it came with home make gnocchi, which was so good, I could have eaten an entire plate of it. My companion had the surf & turf - coconut prawns and filet. Both were just delicious. Service was excellent, and holy cow, the view is jaw droppingly beautiful, rivaling San Francisco's Cliff House. Go now and go often!5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMGorgeous View, Excellent FoodMooonraker exceeded our expectations. When we read it was attached to a Motel we were disinterested. But after finding the place on Open Table and also on Urbanspoon a few times we decided to try it and WOW>>>>> We loved the food, the presentation, the decor, and the view backing up to the Pacific is gorgeous. Please go to Moonraker and you won't be disappointed. Prepare to spend a moderate amount of money and its definitely worth the price.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMBeautifulWe have dined at the Moonraker many times and have never been disappointed. The food is always very good with a lot of variety, service is great and the view can't be beat.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMDoesn't disappoint!I live in Pacifica, and so grateful to have this gem in the neighborhood. I was extremely sad when it's sister restaurant, Barolo, closed. I've had their artichoke pasta, the walnut salad, the asaparagus soup and they were all yummy. The bread they serve is wonderful, piping hot and the butter just melts right in, and it has a delicious sourdough flavor, and yet nice and chewy. Normally I would not want to share my favorite restaurant, but since I really appreciate their wonderful and attentive service, I want to let everyone know Moonraker is wonderful!!!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMCUISINE and RESPECT FOR DININGThere's plenty for a vegetarian to feast on. Top quality ingredients. Anywhere you sit the breaking ocean waves are just feet away. The dining room is understated and elegant. Seats are very comfortable. I loved that you could order however many oysters you want, 1 or 25! The asparagus and goat cheese appetizer was crazy good. Companion loved the asparagus soup. The respect for the diner was awesome: When asked I said I wasn't crazy about the artichoke ravioli. I ordered a replacement dish, a vegetarian plate (Companion loved hers too) of many things, which was superb. The rolls were warm and great. Attention from the staff was perfectly timed and inobtrusive. The chocolate pave desert is divine. Companion loved her crème brulee.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMLooking for a romantic rondesvous? We found the Moonraker the perfect place for a special occasion because of the outstanding food which was an artistic delight as well as a treat for the palate. We enjoyed the fresh Salmon pinwheel and the sea Scallops. There was a surprise birthday message written on the plate, spelled in chocolate :) and the after dinner drink, Irish Coffee, was well-made.The service was excellent, unobtruswive, while very attentive. The spectacular ocean view while dining at sunset was magnificent! The Sunday brunch was lavish and a delight!5/18/2013 12:00:00 AMtoo many people were fit intoo many people were fit in the restaurant - had to wait in a very long line for food - not all choices were available for dessert Did not like being in the hallway for the food selection.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMthe food has improvedIt's not sure fine dining but each time we have dinner at the Moonraker, the food is better and better. My mate had the ahi which was wonderful. I had the boar pasta which was delicious but the boar, if any, must have been mixed into the red sauce - no chunks. The server was nice and friendly but slowwwww.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent!Great food, near perfect service and a view of the ocean that felt like you were almost sitting in the surf. Pacifica is not that far from SF or San Mateo - give Mooonraker a try!5/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMake the drive to Moonraker! We discovered Moonraker about 4 weeks ago and we've already visited 5 times. This coming Saturday night will be our 6th visit! The restaurant itself is attractive and modern. The food is top notch - we love their brunch - cold seafood selection, AMAZING clam chowder, eggs benedict, ham and roast beef carving station...and desserts! A great selection, prepared and presented perfectly. We've also been to dinner and we were very pleased - definitely worth the splurge. The female host is fantastic! Where else can you say that? Oh, it also has the most spectacular views of the ocean. That's easily forgotten because you'll be focusing on what's on your plate, the attentive service and the great atmosphere of the restaurant itself.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSpectacular! We'd gone to Moonraker when they first reopened about a year ago, and things were still a little shaky. Now, a year later, it's simply fabulous. Cocktails were sublime, food was cooked perfectly with lovely presentation. Crab cakes were flavorful, neither greasy nor bread, and pot roast was delicious!5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMy second time here in twoMy second time here in two weeks! Can't stay away from Moonraker's Sunday Brunch. The selection of food is always huge and always fresh! I totally enjoyed each experience from the 1st step into the restaurant, where my server Derek and the hostess already knew my name from the last time I was there two weeks ago, to selecting my food, which is always a fun adventure, to the great desserts. I'm a sucker for seafood and found the tiger prawns, king crab legs and oysters to be my favorite, in addition to the traditional breakfast fare, especially the selections on the menu. I told you guys I would be back, and now it's a little tradition for me to have Sunday Brunch at Moonraker! Thank you for everything!4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food - great serviceGreat food - great service - wonderful view - what else do you need/4/27/2013 12:00:00 AMAn Anniversary Night to RememberMy wife and I visited the Moonraker on our 5th Anniversary. We placed a reservation on the OpenTable website for a romantic spot with a view and to our surprise that's exactly what we got. They told us they had saved the spot just for us. We enjoyed the food and the view. Seemed like someone was always there when we needed anything. My wife ordered the Garlic Studded Maine Lobster Tail while I had the Natural Filet of Beef. Both of these were excellent. When it came time for dessert, our waiter surprised us with a Chocolate Pavé. It had a special anniversary wish written in choc around the edge. This topped off a great night. The music (by Therapy) was a little loud but sounded o.k. Highly Highly Recommend to all romantics!!!4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSo Glad the Moonraker is Back! We're so glad the Moonraker is back, and the remodeled space looks fantastic. Now, no matter where you sit, you've got a gorgeous view of the Pacific, including from the sharp bar/lounge area. My New York was very good and cooked perfectly. My companion's prawns were large and super delicious as was her filet. The endive salad needed more endive. My only real critism is we felt a little rushed by the waiter to order. After we received our expensive martinis, we just wanted to relax a bit and enjoy the view, but the waiter made a bit of a pest of himself trying to get us to order dinner. It's not like the restaurant was full (is wasn't) because it was only 5:00. But overall, we enjoyed our evening and are looking forward to going ba4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I went to theMy wife and I went to the Moonraker for our 16th wedding anniversary.I asked for a table with a ocean view and that's exactly what we got,it was so romantic. The service from our waiter Tony was fabulous as was the food! When we were ready to order dessert Tony brought our dessert with "Happy Anniversary" written in Chocolate on the plate and it was comped. We will go back again soon.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMvery good food and presentedvery good food and presented well..great view of the sunset too.. our server Tony knew the menu and the wine list well... his suggestions were super .. special Thanks for making our stay great...4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a great, close, coastal place.I've been at the Moonraker in various incarnations over many decades. The current restaurant has great style and ambiance, and who can go wrong with a view of the ocean through huge windows?
My companion and I went for Happy Hour, and had such a great experience that we stayed for dinner. The appetizers were stellar, and I was surprised at myself. I don't normally eat french fries, (or any other sort of fried potatoes,) but the Duck Fat Kennebunk Fries were SO incredible that we ordered them again after we finished the first plate. I cannot tell you how much I was off my own stringent kilter. (Does anyone know what that means??) Anyhoo, the food was wonderful, the service was impeccable, the overall experience will take me back again4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMWas here with my brother andWas here with my brother and sister in law from Texas.. I frequent here alot.. always have .. and wanted to share how Beautiful it was . We went to Brunch..Except I put on open Table reservation , a 25th Anniversay and wanted to do something special.. but was overlooked.. all in all it was Good though..4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe are from San Francisco. We are from San Francisco. We were avid Barolo fans who decided to try out Moonraker after Barolo closed. Our previous dining experiences at Moonraker, prior to the Barolo infusion, were rather negative. However, we wanted to give Moonraker another chance because the ocean view can't be beat, and we hoped that the addition of Barolo staff would be influential in upping the quality of food. Our wishes were fulfilled! Excellent food, service, and ambiance. Definitely worth the drive! We will be back as long as the high standard continues.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent food and serviceExcellent food and service for my very first Sunday Brunch ever! Fresh seafood selection was amazing and plentiful, the kitchen staff wasted no time refilling the trays and chafing dishes, waitstaff was attentive to every patron's needs, the basic staples of everyday breakfast was fresh and tasty, and most of all, they had a menu with items cooked to order, which was a plus and included with the price of the brunch. I'm not much of a drinker, but by the looks of the customers who purchased the endless mimosas and champagne, it was top quality! All in all, I'm now a repeat customer and totally love the customer service and great food, not to mention the beautiful views!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWe came for the brunch - theWe came for the brunch - the food was excellent and the seafood was fresh. Our guests enjoyed themselves as well!
Thank you for a memorable experience!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMEverything was great, awesomeEverything was great, awesome view of the ocean. Only bad note was my steak, I was once a butcher so I know quality meat and that was not quality. If I'm paying 30 bucks for a steak, a third of it should not be fat! And the portion was rather small as it goes with all fine dining establishments. Overall I liked it.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMoonraker is finally a diningMoonraker is finally a dining destination again. The food is well executed and the service was excellent. The view is perfect ~ crashing Pacific ocean! So memerizing. Recommend the Moonraker for locals and vistors as well. Great Happy Hour prices and appetizers for those looking for a meeting spot. But stay for the food because you won't be disappointed!4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMBrunch at MoonrakerAmazing view of the Pacific from Rockaway Beach in Pacifica. We went for Easter brunch and had a wonderful time. It's a very spacious room with views from every table. The buffet was fantastic with everything from an omelet station, to fresh oysters, to a desert table. We never felt rushed. We will be back for brunch and we would like to try Moonraker again for a romantic evening or a special dinner celebration with a group.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMEaster Brunch was outstanding.Easter Brunch was outstanding. The view of the Pacific, the attentive wait-staff, the magnificent brunch were all delightful. Their banquest rooms have enticed us to hold an event here, too. This was a great find, thanks to Open Table listings!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMWent for Easter Brunch andWent for Easter Brunch and had a great meal for the price. It's hard to find a nice place to take my mother, who is in a wheelchair, and a picky eater. She enjoyed everything on the menu and so did the rest of the group. A definite place to return for holiday brunches!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMHad a great time with outHad a great time with out of town family. We were happy to be able to show them what a nice restaurant we have here in Pacifica. Thanks for your attention to details including the complimentary dessert served to our birthday guest. Very nice touch.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe use of spotlights so youThe use of spotlights so you can see the ocean makes for wonderful seating. The seafood and the steak and equally good.3/20/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is grand buteware the serviceAs long time fans of Barolo, we were saddened to learn of its demise but glad to hear that the same team would be heading up the new Moonraker. Went last year for my birthday and were very pleased. This is not the Moonraker I remembered. So, we went back for my birthday this year. The food remains wonderful. Good portions, beautifully plated and presented, and very, VERY delicious. However, service is the one thing that could end up sinking this place. As with Barolo before it, the wait staff appears to be fairly inexperienced. We waited 20 minutes for bread and even longer to order, largely because we brought our own wine to be opened and decanted and our wait staff was stumped. Once the food came, service was good.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMService was excellent. VeryService was excellent. Very fresh sea food. Great view, come before sunset so you can see it. Easy to get too as well.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMVery romantic place that'sVery romantic place that's why we came back this is our second time I was impressed w/the service very friendly atmosphere excellent food well done chef we were seated facing the ocean so romantic I will absolutely recommend to my friends thank you Moonraker restaurant..3/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMemories... Still there!I haven't been to the Moonraker since 1973 and I went there because I saw it on table and decided to try it for old times... Very quiet evening which gave me a nice focus from the staff. Food was very nice with the Seafood mainly yet offering Beef, Lamb & Chicken. I was very satisfied and would definitely return!1/31/2013 12:00:00 AM
