Diner Reviews
  • "This was my second time being in Orlando on business. MoonFish will always be one of my dinner spots! The food is always outstanding, the service second to none and the managers always stop by to check on your experience! The only downside is that it does tend to be noisy most of the time."

  • "I took a client to dinner at Moonfish on April 9th. The server was awesome. The food was good, but my client got a bone-in ribeye and it was very fatty. The manager did come over to the table and offered something else, but my client was ok with eating it. The manager did deduct the rib eye from the bill, so that was much appreciated."

  • "The service and ambiance were excellent. The food was great. Rib eye steak was flavorful and smokey. The calamari was excellent aswwell. Lobster tail and filet were flavorful and delicious. Steaks were not melt in your mouth tender but the smoky seasonings made up for it somewhat. BTW the strawberry lemonade cocktail was addictive. Pineapple cake was OK. Server mentioned rum infusion but we did not taste any. Overall good experience."

  • "We had a lovely experience at MoonFish. The decor is very pleasing. The menu in not overwhelming and the food was very good. We had the fried lobster appetizer (a little pricey ) but tasty. The fried calamari needed more seasoning and cutting it in thinner pieces would have made it more tender. The Chilean sea bass was delicious, as was the pyramid of wasabe rice it came with. I wished for a little more lump crab with this dish, but taste was outstanding."

  • "We had small kids with us, we were placed next to a large group of loud people who we're using foul language. Staff was aware of it , made no attempt to speak to other guests. Very uncomfortable situation ."

  • "We had a very enjoyable dinner at Moonfish! We had a very helpful, attentive waiter that made great recommendations for our dinners. I had the mahi-mahi, while my husband had the sea bass special. Both were wonderful! We were made to feel very special, and no less than 4 people thanked us for coming on our way out! I would highly recommend Moonfish!"

  • "Arrived for the happy hour and sushi Sunday deal. Happy hour drink and sushi specials were decent and priced well. The sushi is average and not the caliber I was expecting. The prices are higher than what I felt the quality of the food is. The service was lacking a bit but it just may have been our server. She messed up several items that we ordered, never put my sons meal in even after we reminded her 3 times and then gave us a bill that had incorrect charges on it. May give it another try if we are back in the area but will more than likely look for another place first."

  • "Moonfish is a fantastic restaurant with an amazing menu. I had a steak which was one of the top 5 I've ever had. I'm looking very much forward to going back to have one of their fish dishes and sushi. Service was top notch and the ambiance was nice."

  • "As much as I tend to think reviews are overblown, I would agree with others that MoonFish is too large for the amount of wait staff. Even with two waiters attending to our table of three, it was not enough. I also got the sense that the staff was "rushed" and even a bit taken aback when we requested certain things. And asking for sweetener or lemon should not be a ten minute project. The food was good and we enjoyed our meal."

  • "The food was tasty. I also liked the fact that they had a special that assist breast cancer. This means I can enjoy a great, well priced meal while contributing to breast cancer."

  • "Very well trained staff. Macadamia Mahi is amazing. Overall a nice spot."

  • "Service very slow. My steak (filet) was so tough I could barely cut it with a steak knife. My husband's fish has a hair in it. We could not eat our meals. The management took them off our bill. Would never recommend this restaurant."

  • "Excellent unusual seafood from around the world Service was spotty as waitress disappeared at end of meal"

  • "We were quite satisfied with tasty generous portions of swordfish and grouper entrees which included salad and the house cheese bread. We got the wrong order of mussels for our appetizer though the garlic ones smelled wonderful. The mussels were promptly replaced with Thai mussels we ordered. We might have liked the Thai curry better without the pineapple in it, though. We appreciated the effort of our waiter also to find plain bread for our request, due to lactose intolerance. The decor is beautiful. The noise level was a bit high for our taste but might be considered lively more than romantic."

  • "what more can you ask for. Huge wine list! didn't have any steaks so can't comment on that but the stone crab were excellent as was the rest of the seafood. Highly recommend the mussels and the whole fish. Excellent for under $100 a person."

  • "We had been to this restaurant a few days before and had the most extraordinary experience. The waiter made all the difference in the world. The knowledge, personality and recommendations of the prior experience made the experience all together different. Ask for Anthony when you go here!"

  • "Our waiter Anthony was extremely attentive with all of our requests and gave us recommendations for all facets of our meal. I had the grouper which he was very passionate about. It was an extraordinary experience for my taste buds! My husband had the surf & turf which was equally as wonderful! The preparation & ingredients of their dishes are like no one else!"

  • "I was looking for a romantic restaurant for a date night with my wife. We made a reservation for 8:15 and arrived at 7:50. We asked to be seated early since there were about 10 empty tables and were told we had to wait even though the tables were never occupied. Jason and Joe were our servers and they were very attentive. The food was mediocre at best. This food quality would be acceptable at Denny's, but I would have expected a much better first impression and a much higher food quality at Moonfish. Side note, nice restaurants don't put paper coverings over the table cloths. The good news is that there are plenty of other restaurants to try in the area so Moonfish will not be on our future list or a recommendation to others."

  • "We dined at moonfish for a special night out while vacationing in Orlando. Our server was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The fried lobster tail appetizer was fantastic...and our 40oz. Wagyu steak was phenominal. We will be coming back for years to come."

  • "The food was outstanding, but the service left a bit to be desired. I was out with a friend and we decided to split a meal. Keep in mind we both ordered a glass of wine and an appetizer to share and an extra side dish, so we weren't trying to go cheaply, we just knew that with an appetizer we wouldn't be able to each eat a meal. Once we told our server we were going to split our meal, he basically lost interest in us. He didn't check back to see if our food was okay and he never offered us another drink or refilled our water. He also told us that if we split a meal that we would be charged $5.00 for an extra salad. When I asked if we could just split one salad he said that we could. So, why tell us we needed to pay five dollars extra?"

  • "We tried this restaurant based on other reviews and expected a great meal. We were disappointed with the quality of the meals we received. The service was good but my daughter's crab encrusted snapper which was supposed to have a light wasabi drizzle was so overpowering she had to leave the table to blow her nose. I had the whole snapper which came out very under-cooked. Fish should flake off of the bone when cooked correctly but mine could not be pried off of the bones. You could also see the difference between the cooked tail area, pale white and opaque, and the raw mid-section, translucent and shiny. For the prices they are charging the food should be perfectly cooked and prepared, not slapped together."

  • "Recommended by our hotel as a good seafood restaurant...turned out to be an excellent seafood restaurant! Beautiful presentation and flavors. Next time we will try the steaks as they looked amazing."

  • "I decided to take my husband to Moon Fish for his birthday since he loves steak. I've heard excellent things about it. Everyone who recommended it was on point with their reasoning. The service was superb, the atmosphere was perfect, and the food, of course, was delicious. We are huge fans of "King of the Bone". The meat was so tender and bursting with flavor. Also, they serve a cheese/herb bread that is addicting!"

  • "My husband and I dine at nice restaurants, especially when we travel, on a regular basis. Went to moonfish for dinner with my husband and our 16 yr old daughter. Everything was fantastic. We had a crab salad app special, salads, sea bass (highly recommend), the grouper and molten lava cake for dessert. Everything was delish! The service was also superior. Our waitress was very helpful and friendly. My husband mentioned to her that his grouper was a little more buttery than he usually likes (in no way complaining) and next thing you know the manager was over to our table apologizing and removing it from the bill. That's world class service! This was my favorite restaurant/ dining experience in orlando. Hope to come back. Thanks Moonfish!"

  • "Stopped in while vacationing in Orlando area. Highly-rated on Trip Advisor. Go early to drink & eat hors d'oeuvres during happy hour to take a bit of the sting out of dinner prices. Recommend anything that is wood grilled!"

  • "Our waiter had a good knowledge of the menu and was able to answer the questions we asked. The house wine was a good selection. The only complaint we have is the noise level was very loud. Other than that we would definitely return on our next trip to Orlando."

  • "We went with another couple and none of us will ever return. The service was at a snail's pace; and it was so noisy we couldn't hear each other. Looking around it seemed that the noise level was high because no one had any food, so they talked and the more people talk, the louder you have to talk to be heard. The service was lousy probably because there were too few waiters -- each had too many tables. It took over an hour before our order was even taken! The food was good but the portions were too large. Considering how many good restaurants are in the area, the food wasn't good enough to outweigh all the negatives."

  • "We went to this restaurant after trying a sister restaurant, Johnnie's Hideaway. We felt utterly pampered at Moonfish by our waiter. He took the time to answer our questions and attend to our every need. The lump crabmeat/shrimp/scallop casserole had excellent flavor - scampi sauce with a touch of coconut. There were delicious sauteed vegetables that included zucchini, summer squash and carrots. We finished our meal with a chocolate lava cake - mmmmm."

  • "My taxi driver recommended MoonFish. I loved the ambiance and decorations. The doorknob is enough to lure patrons through the door. The crabcakes were delicious and served on a mini cedar plank. Very artistic. The MoonFish Bouillabaisse was a wonderful conglomeration of authentic fresh seafood. The flavors did blend together halfway through the meal and tasted just as delicious the next day as I was able to take what I could not finish home. The hostesses and servers were tentative and genuinely friendly. I would recommend MoonFish, but be sure to bring enough money."

  • "We had the most wonderful meal at Moonfish on the last day of our visit to Orlando. I had the trigger fish and my daughter had the chilean sea bass. Both were prepared perfectly and were delicious. Our waitress was amazing and very attentive without being annoying. Would highly recommend this place!"
