  • "Although this place looks like it would be good it wasn't at all. Maybe because we ate at some great places in savannah this one just didn't stack up. I had a burger which is hard to get wrong but somehow it was as flavorless as you could get. Not sure why this place gets such great reviews. "

  • "We had dinner after a soccer tournament with a large group of people. The food was actually better than expected and the servers did a really good job with the large number of tables we had. We tried unsuccessfully to reserve a section of the restaurant knowing we had so many people but they would not allow it. As a result we had individual reservations for large tables. While we were all together there were other people in our section who were less than pleased with our noise level. In addition the hostess was less than cordial as we all came in at different times. However despite the chaos of seating everyone was pleased with their food. Good beer selection. Would definitely return if we are back in savannah."

  • "We ordered a few beers & bottle of wine. The wine finally came with 3 of the 4 glasses we asked for. It took another 10 minutes to get the last glass. We had several food runners offer us food we didn't order, and eventually 2 of our 7 orders came. A little while later, our server came over to tell us we got someone else's food, and he had to take it away. We asked to speak with a manager to let us keep it since we had eaten some of it, and it was wasteful to just throw it away. The manager never came over. The remaining 5 orders came out missing things and at varying speeds with the last dinner arriving almost 45 minutes after the first. In addition, our bills were completely messed up, and server wasn't helpful at all."

  • "Our server was terrible. I ordered a beer and she brought it to the wrong table. She didn't ask my date if he wanted another beer. When she finally realized her mistake we were mostly done with out meal. Salmon was over cooked and overly salty. My dates ribs were less than desirable. I would not return."

  • "The beer is very tasty and is well worth a couple of visits. The food on the other hand, sounded creative and tasty on the menu. However, each of the four items we ordered were mediocre at best. Three out of the four were Luke warm when they arrived. As the menu outside on the patio is quite a limited menu, we chose to eat inside with the expectation of a better food experience. In hindsight, we should have sat on the patio or by the outdoor bar to enjoy the great atmosphere, live duo playing music, and enjoyed the beer. Pretty sure that had we ordered from the limited outdoor menu that we could not have been anymore disappointed by the 'patio menu food as we were by the full restaurant food. Lesson learned-come here for the flavorful beer."

  • "We were in town for the weekend and had been out shopping all day. We saw the outdoor patio and live band so we looked up the restarurant on Urban Spoon and made a reservation. Unfortunately we were not aware that the patio menu and the inside menus are very different so we had to sit inside. The food was fine and the service was great, but being that we were a group of girls in town and really wanted to sit outside and listen to the live music. Two of us in the group are vegetarian so our options were a bit limited and the server was very accommodating for us. I thought the options were varied and not the same thing as you get everywhere else."

  • "Had 5 people for dinner and had to spend the entire time yelling because we couldn't hear anyone at our table. Waited 50 minutes for our food to arrive. We will never return. We want to be able to have a conversation with the people we go out with, not spend the entire time yelling. Noise level was insane!"

  • "Top choice for a juicy burger and a great beer. We love their Apparition Ale and sweet potato fries with vanilla dipping sauce. A little too noisy for a romantic evening, but great for a night out with friends or family. Terrific location that is within walking distance to quite a few hotels. I'd definitely make a reservation for a large group."

  • "Maybe I'm a beer snob but, the home brews were only marginal. Weak, and not very tasty or varied. Our server was attentive and nice. The fried green tomato with crab salad appetizer was very good. If you're looking for good beer though, there are better choices in town. Also, it was pretty loud in there- hard for 2 people to carry on a conversation without constantly repeating sentences."

  • "Good beers, good mead, average to poor food. If you want beer, and maybe also want a sandwich (but the beer is the primary reason for the visit), check it out. Or, for a much better overall experience, head to the Distillery a few blocks over."

  • "This was our first visit to Savannah, Loved eating at the Moon River Brewing company. Food was EXCELLENT and hubby enjoyed the beer. Would highly recommend this place to anyone going to visit Savannah."

  • "Our party of 8 was disappointed in the service (orders were confused and incomplete), and the food (only okay). We were seated in a back room, however, two other parties were also located there (one party had about 12 and the other party about 8) making talking very difficult."

  • "We thought Moon River would be a great place to sample some new beers and have good food at the same time. Our server, Brittany, was wonderful and guided us through all the many beers available to find the best match to our taste, and she was equally helpful with suggestions on the menu. There was little she could do, however, regarding the food that was served. Soup of the day was fine, veggie wrap and garlic fries ok(no skin on, as the menu described). However, the shredded pork that was identfied as barbecue was dry, lacking sauce of any kind, and unedible, even for my undistinguishing palate. The manager did the right thing and discounted the meal, but why bother at all if it's like that? Just have a beer and eat somewhere else."

  • "Our server was great! The food (crab chowder, ribs, potatoes & broccoli) was just ok. If I ever go back, it would be for drinks at the bar & maybe the bacon wrapped dates- which you really can't mess up."

  • "My boyfriend and I went here on the Saturday after Valentine's Day. I made reservations, but the hostess still didn't seat us for 45 minutes. Every time we asked the hostess when our table would be ready she gave us a blank stare, indicating to me that she kept forgetting about us. The food was mediocre and a little bland. The beer was pretty good, but in this ever competitive world of craft beer, nothing to write home about. Overall a disappointing experience."

  • "Ate here during our visit to SCAD. Laid back atmosphere and casual dining. A big pricey for casual, but food was great! Server was also great. Good place for fun, energetic experience."

  • "We had a big group and last year when we went here we waited over 45 minutes for our reserved table. This time, however, we were seated only 5 minutes after our reservation time had past and the service was very, very good. I was pleasantly surprised with the Kelsey, the waitress, and I let both hostesses know on my way out. We come here with a big group because it's on the iDine network, and since my husband pays the bill, we get a percentage back through iDine with the amount we spend. Moon River has upped their game and it shows!"

  • "We celebrated a special occasion with Moon River and we were very pleased with our choice of restaurants. The atmosphere was very romantic but energetic at the same time. The ribs would absolutely melt in your mouth they were so tender (highly recommended). The experience was great and we will surely be back again when visiting Savannah."

  • "A great bar and restaurant, featuring it's own micro-brewery with many excellent choices to suit a diversity of tastes. We got in very quickly on a Saturday night (using an OpenTable reservation nonetheless) and were seated promptly. Our server was both energetic, pleasant and directed us to a few of her favorite entrees. We were not disappointed with any aspect of our meal. We enjoyed the "tacodilla" and the chicken and sausage creole. Both were tasty and in large portions. I highly recommend the black eyed pea salad, as a refreshing take on a southern favorite. It's location on Bay St. makes it an idea launching point for the afternoon or final destination for the evening for anyone visiting Savannah!"

  • "Was not impressed at all. Brought a group of friends (first timers to Savannah), and were greeted with rules like "you can order ____ but not _____" They were out of many items (one would think a restaurant would be prepared for a Saturday night crowd on a holiday weekend). The drinks took forever to arrive (along with the initial visit of the server), and the drinks were not consistent in taste. I have been to Moon River before, and had a nice experience. I was really sad that my friends saw the "bad side". I am hoping that this was a one time bad experience. Will give MR another try on another visit to Savannah, but will not be coming back if I have a repeat experience."

  • "My daughter and I dined with her roommates at Moon River during our visit to Savannah. We had a wonderful time. She is vegan and was able to order a delicious veggie burger there. The Moscato I had was delish as was her beer. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely return!"

  • "Food outstanding, especially the bacon-wrapped filet which you could almost cut with a fork, the unique black-eyed pea salad side dish, and the Gouda scalloped potatoes. Loved the house-brewed craft beers, especially the Swamp Fox - I can see why our waitperson said it was her favorite. Definitely plan to return on my next Savannah trip."

  • "Visiting from out of town-single worst example of service that my wife and I have ever experienced. We tried to be friendly with waitress who continued through the night to almost go out of her way to show how little interest she had in our table (there were 2 or 3 other loud groups of college students taking shots nearby). Food was lukewarm and seemed microwaved at best. Beer was decent but be aware $6.50 is cost--that is, if you can get someone to come by your table!"

  • "My boyfriend and I decided to try this restaurant out our first night visiting savannah. We sat outside at a high top near the bar. There were tiki torches and space heaters it was great and super comfy. We order filet and surf n turf and some local beers. The food was great the service was awful. She was so unenthused and the only time we saw her was to take orders and drop the check. It was disappointing."

  • "Had New Year's dinner with friends. Inside seating, while quite loud with many large tables of party makers, service and food were good. Asked to sit outside after dinner to continue conversation and drinks. Waitress brought check outside and everything was fine, until the beer garden waitress showed up. First she scolded us for coming from restaurant instead of going outside and in through the beer garden street entrance. Then she was upset we had already eaten and only wanted a drink menu - which she delivered 10 minutes later by throwing on our table. 15 minutes later when she delivered the beer we ordered she again slammed it on the table and kept going. Good dinner, lousy beer garden service."

  • "Our party of 3 for dinner on New Year's Eve was seated immediately thanks to reservations made on Open Table. We all got the Filet Mignon. The steaks were cooked perfectly & tasted delicious. The Twisted Monkey cocktails were great as well. The service was excellent especially for a crowded night like NYE. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and you can't beat the price... $21 for a 6 oz. Filet Mignon."
