  • "The last time we were at Monty's was over 20 years ago. We really missed out. We were totally surprised. The place was standing room only with young and old, but they honored our reservations to the minute. The food, wine, bar and waiter service were all excellent. The portions were HUGE, so we could have easily split what we ordered. I highly recommend the rib-eye steak if you are in to meat - why else go. OUTSTANDING. Can't wait to go back. Kudos to Monty's for keeping the place top notch."

The food is always excellent as is the service. The wine list is exceptional and well priced. The portions are very generous so be advised it might be a good idea to skip lunch if you are having dinner there."

  • "This used to be a great restaurant....unfortunately the food, and service aren't worth the money. Steaks were flavourless, mashed potatoes tasted like boxed flakes, better salad at a grocery store salad bar. Service was slow and unprofessional. There are far better steakhouses than Montys..skip it."

  • "Driving by with the car one can see a huge ad that Dad's eat for free on Father's day. I even sent a written request asking if dads can choose anything from the menu during Father's day. I never received a response but despite made the reservation for me and my son. Once at the table I found out that in order to qualify for that free mean, it required a minimum of a party of 4!! Having talked to the owner, all he would offer was a free drink - very very cheap!! I will most definitely not visit this restaurant ever again nor will I recommend it to anyone. (I have been a regular back about 3 years ago!)"

  • "When I made the reservations I specifically noted that it was a birthday celebration, when we got there my husband was out with the valet so I told the host AGAIN that it was his birthday., then I told the waitress. The table across the way was another gentlemen' s birthday, the waitress said happy birthday, and someone else said happy birthday (maybe the GM),but nothing for my husband, it was really sad, I was so dissapointed, specifically because he requested we go to Monty's for his birthday. "

  • "This restaurant seems to try to cater to the young bar scene crowd. It was too noisy to be able converse comfortably. The steaks were excellent, though the menu has become ala carte and everything is charged extra. Peppercorn sauce for my meal was an additional $6! Really? This was the first time in my life where I've ever been charged for steak sauce. To reiterate, the good was good, but not a pleasant dining experience."

  • "Great Food, Excellent. Service. Had a deep bar with premium spirits. I was only expecting a sit down dinner with my friends, but on Saturday's they do have an in house band and dance floor. Planned good music and the dance floor was hopping. A nice older sophisticated crowd."

  • "I have been to Monty's several times and it hasn't dissappointed. Love the deep fried pickle chips. Steaks and side portions are huge, and all our steaks were cooked perfectly. The drinks were strong, which was ok for me, but too strong for my GF, even after they watered it down. Great food, and we had a good time with friends."

  • "We've been eating at Monty's probably since they opened. Tonight, the service was incredibly slow. We waited nearly an hour for our salads to arrive (and that was after inquiring about them) and then again nearly as long for our entrees. Not once did our server ask how we were doing or apologize for the delays. Even the owner was standing in the doorway next to our table and never checked with us. That being said, the food was outstanding tasting, but for $180, it should have been served timely."

  • "Booked this for a Valentine's dinner and it was such a disappointment. The fried chicken was overcooked and flavorless. The filet was fine but flavorless. No substitutions are allowed (not everyone likes peas.) The only positive was our waitress. She was great. Did not know valet was the only option. A valet attendant tracked me down en route to the entrance, very embarrasing. Lastly we were clearly 20-30 years younger than the average age of the crowd. Will never be going back."

  • "Classic old-school dining. Penny was our server, she is really great so ask to be seated in her area!! The steaks are always very good,the fries always cooked properly, the drinks always made well. I tried the fried chicken. The chef was kind enough to accommodate my request for only certain pieces at a nominal $3 up charge. I haven had fried chicken in years. So between the excellent preparation and the anticipation of having it, the experience was excellent. The peas that came with the chicken are probably from a frozen bag, and the mashed potatoes lacked flavor, very very bland. Can't say that I enjoyed the garlic mashed potatoes at all, and would not order them ever again here. Stick with the fries. Oysters were PLUMP, FRESH, YUM."

  • "We go here fairly often and always enjoy our evening. This time our server was the best we've ever had. When I complimented him to the maitre d' on the way out, he smiled and said, "He's one of our best assets." I thought that was a nice way to acknowledge my comment. One aspect we particularly like is that we are never rushed. My companions like to linger over every course, from cocktails to dessert. We can dine at our own pace in complete relaxation."

  • "It was a rare Friday as everyone was still out of town from the Holidays and we enjoyed a very quiet meal with our daughter and 3 month old baby. A great and friendly waitress made the always great food even better. Its hard not to fill up on appetizers,especially the brussel sprouts which are amazing. Salads were very fresh and steaks were scrumptious."

  • "I am trying to like this place, but somehow it doesn't cut it. The crowd is mostly well-to-do people from the West San Fernando Valley cities. The valet parking is like a luxury car dealership. Patrons are outdoing each other who gets the best car driven up by the valet and with the youngest girlfriend to fit in it.. Food: rather mediocre. It is supposed to be a traditional steakhouse, but surprisingly the steaks are not prime quality. My husband and I spent New Years Eve there. The filet mignon was sub-standard; my husband left half of it on the plate. Cocktail: neither the waitress or anybody at the bar knew what a Mint Julep was. ..in a traditional American restaurant? Management is very nice and accommodating though."
