  • A Montgomery Plaza Gem

We have been to Monty's Corner several times in the past year and have always enjoyed the food there. Their fried green tomatoes are a wonderful appetizer & their tomato soup is delicious. The fried chicken dinner was moist, tender & succulent---although too many calories! I would like to see the choice of a lighter fare for those who are calorie conscious. But Monty's Corner is a wonderful restaurant & we will definitely be back. Rodney is a great waiter, too.

Very impressed with the hostess...she was busy when we left but came after us when we were already out the door and thanked us for coming. Have not had this kind of customer services in quite some time! Would definitely come back for the service and to try other menu items. So glad we tried this restaurant!

Food was very good, but the menu doesn't really fit the decor. The menu is very limited (almost bar food like in its presentation and offerings). The decor is more akin to upscale, yet the menu selections are not so much upscale. There was only one cabernet available for "by the glass" drinking. We were there around 6:30 p.m. on a Saturday evening, and it was somewhat empty of patrons. Very telling, and probably due to the limited menu offerings. Our server was very friendly and courteous, and did a very good job of taking care of things during the meal. Considering the locale of this restaurant, the menu needs upscaling, or the place may not be around this time next year, and that would be a shame

I went to Monty's based on a recommendation from friends. The food was very good. The only problem was my portion. I had a chicken fried steak, but it was very small considering what I am used too. The normal dinner salad is over priced.

This was our first time at Monty's. I thought overall it was pretty good. A little high on the price for my liking, but I understand with the area that they are in. I guess the important question, "Would I go back?" I would say yes, but probably not on a regular occasion.

Food was somewhat disappointing, but not bad. Fun community restaurant with kid friendly menu. Also nice wine list. If you aren't a foodie, you'll like this place. If you're picky, look elsewhere.

We were actually pretty disappointed. Bud Kennedy had written a really nice article about Monty's Corner recently so we had pretty high expectations. My husband's salmon was very nice, but my rack of ribs was tough and very chewy. Our server was very nice but couldn't remember anything. We had to ask for regular butter twice. My tea was never filled. We ordered a piece of pie to go. The server kept telling us how delicious it was and then completely forgot it. He picked up the check and added it to it and we finally got the pie after 10 minutes. The restaurant has a lot of potential. It is located right in the heart of Montgomery Plaza, a very busy, energetic area just west of downtown Fort Worth. It is really pretty. I hope it makes it!

The ambiance is good, however the food and service needs a lot of work. We ordered two items, both not available. The wine list was fair and we were told that the owner would go acro the street and purchase a bottle - which he did. We received the wrong meal because the waitress didn't bother to write down our order. They were attentive but there were too many things that went bad, to consider visiting again.

My guests and I loved it. We live in Dallas, and are always looking for a neat place for a meal on regular visits to FW during the opera season. Monty's corner was a real find. Went with another friend for lunch the next day, and enjoyed it again. Thanks!

  • First visit - Monty's Corner

for my first visit to Monty's Corner I only ate 2 starters - the crab cakes - as a New Orleans native I pronounce these VERY GOOD. Also firecracker shrimp which were also very good. We dined early, happy hour time, and enjoyed a very good glass of chardonnay for $3. The general menu is varied and interesting and I know I'll return for a full meal. Our server, Royce, was very nice and answered all of our questions. All in all a good experience

We've been here twice in the past two weeks. The food and service was just outstanding. On these two occasions we've had the crab cakes for appetizers and I have to say these are the best I've had anywhere in the DFW area! For entree's we've tried include the Osso Bucco, Gumbo, Fried Chicken, and Ribeye. Each of these dishes was spot-on and the gumbo was the best I've had in over 20 years. This is our new favorite dinner place.

If you are lucky enough to get Kiley as your server you are in for a great dinning experience. She is funny and energetic. The food is topnotch and plentiful. Owner comes around, chef is visible and support staff does wonderful job. classes stay full, bread is WONDERFUL. Hard to say enough good about Monty's, with the quiet music, good acoustics you can visit with your table without screaming. It is just a wonderful place to eat and the bread is "WONDERFUL" and they are not stingy with it or the magnificent honey butter.

The cocktails were lousy. (who asks to serve a sazerac warm? who puts simple syrup in a caipirinha?) The lobster mac and chee was a soupy, gloopy mess and the "lobster" was actually kani. The sea bass was rubbery and smelled like days old fish. Their prices are way out of line with the quality of food they serve.

My new favorite place. Went there with a large group. Ordered several appetizers all were excellent. I recommend start with the mussels with the thai sauce and the fried green tomatoes. Everyone ordered something different and we were all pleased. I had the pork chop with collard greens, tomatoes. You can taste the LOVE in the food. Took my daughter there for Brunch the following weekend, she had french toast and loved it. I had the monster breakfast it was layered biscuits and gray (the kind your mom made from scratch) on the bottom, fluffy pancake on top and on top of that a scrambled egg with peppers, bacon (pig candy they call it) sweet and salty yummy! sausage, home fries. My only complaint I don't like certain things to touch.
