I am really into cooking so I hate eating out and having terrible food. I expected the food to be pricey - which it was. Around $30 for the dinner plus the sides were Ala Carte. We only ordered one side and had an appetizer and 3 alcoholic drinks total was $147 plus we tipped them 20%. And..... I would do it all over again. Regret nothing and I wasn't hungry when I left.
Yellow Fin Tuna was amazing! The shrimp were to die for (even more than the crab cake) and the raw seafood was good too. I'm trying to find another 'special occasion' to go back again (sooner than 1 year!!!)

The specials were announced by the wait staff, and not listed on a printed page,. We assumed the price would be in the ballpark of the higher end of price points on the menu. Therefore, there was a real sense of sticker shock when we received the check. We had a window seat, but not overlooking the city. Instead, I was looking at my car parked in the valet parking lot. I can see that from my deck at home. Without having a view of the city, Monterey Bay is just another restaurant. Everyone loved their fish dishes--crab cakes, swordfish, Ahi tuna, lemon sole, Chilean sea bass, and lobster mac n cheese. The side dish we ordered of broccolini was not too interesting and they could lose that item from the menu and no one would miss it. The asparagus was delicious. The dessert sampler was a great way to share a little taste around the table--just the right amount after a big meal. We ordered tasty seafood appetizers which came very quickly. Our entrees were scallops, filet mignon, shrimp & scallop fettuccine, scrod, crab cakes, with sides of asparagus, potatoes, and lobster macaroni and cheese. All were done to perfection. However, we were a little disappointed that the sides did not come with the entree and had to be ordered extra for an additional cost. Our water glasses were never empty due to some very dutiful and watchful waiters. Our waitress was so knowledgeable about all the preparation styles and all the seafood specials. This is the second time I've been there, and I have an interesting perspective because I do not like seafood. They always work with the customer to ensure food for everyone, and they always seems to have at least a few non-seafood options. There was no massive seafood smell in the restaurant this time, which I appreciated. Our server was excellent. I find the wine list to be very pricey. The food prices are moderate to high but the food is good and you're paying for the view. The service is high-class, but I will say I think it stinks you can't request a window seat. Everything was perfect from the valet parking, to picking the wine, to the entree and finally the desert. This is one of the more expensive restaurants in Pittsburgh but it was well worth it for our special occasion. First you have the incredible view of Pittsburgh. Then you have the outstanding food. I had the swordfish and it was outstanding. Started with fresh Oysters on the half shell and "Hong Kong Style" steamed mussels. Our wine for the evening was a 2009 Chalk Hill Pinot Gris ... excellent finish.
Our main entreés were shared between stuffed scallops with crab meat on a bed of lobster sauce and Ahi, seared "sashimi style".
After dinner we shared chocolate truffle cake with a 10 year old Cockburn port. Service was excellent, the right balance of attention and privacy. Michael was outstanding. Not only did we end up with the best seat in the house, overlooking downtown Pittsburgh, the manager came over to wish my parents a happy anniversary and even sent them a dessert on the house.
