Saturday night the place was full but the service from our hostess Teresa and our waiter Mark was excellent. Yes it was a bit on the noisy side but there you go. The food is excellent and a great value. The portions are generous and the food is moderately priced. Enjoy

We made a reservation via Open Table and it was timely honored on a crowded night. Every table was taken. The food was very good -- basic Italian fare but nothing wrong with that and they did it well. The service was very good even though the restaurant was crowded. It was noisy but did not impede our conversation.

I found myself almost having to yell for my date to hear me on several occasions. That said, I really liked the place and think it would be a great place to take a group of people. Great value, seemed like the price was matched well with the food, service and ambiance.

  • Good food, weird place

It feels like a consignment clothing store turned old school Italian restaurant, and the space was not designed for 50 people talking at once: LOUD. Also freezing...air blowing straight onto us and when we asked if something could be done, nothing could. Service was generally poor -- food took a long time, waiter never checked on us, and we witnessed a fight between a waiter and the kitchen staff -- but the busboy was awesome...never left an empty plate for longer than a minute ot two. Caeser salad was quite good, chicken dish cooked perfectly, but fettuccini carbonara was only okay, but more like alfredo and had a somewhat weird flavor. One of those "locals" places where you realize you don't really care to eat with the locals.

Full house Saturday evening, seated promptly at reserved time of 8. Attentive waiter was very busy. Ordinary cold bread rolls were not indicative of tastier food to follow. Nicely presented Italian food was above average....but not off the charts. Broad wine list allowed for an inexpensive bottle of cab sav that matched our meal. We would go again.

we have been coming here for over 25 years. With a short break due to a little bit of laxity overall we are glad to say the food is back and the interior is looking fresher. The only downfall was the very rushed service. I felt as if our table was just to stop that the server had to make along the way to something else. The server never turned to us as she came by to take an order with glasses and other things in her hand. Other than that wonderful.

We first ate at Montecatini on a Sunday evening. The food and service was outstanding. Our second trip was on a Saturday evening. It was so noisy that we had to shout to be heard. I would definitely go back but never again on a Saturday night. To be fair, the noise level on Saturday evenings in most restaurants is "energetic " to say the least.

This is the best Italian food I have ever had, and Italian is my favorite fare. After eating here several times I can say the chef is gifted at preparing a wide range of fabulous dishes...all delicately and deliciously prepared. The portions are generous and the food is moderately priced. The wine list is varied and reasonable - especially during Happy Hour. The carpacio appetizer was outstanding, and the coho salmon special is highly recommended. We usually don't order desert, let alone finish it when we do. Because it was a special occasion we ordered Terra-Mizzou and all four of us were astounded at how fresh and light it was...and yes we finished it.

This place has an enviable location across the street from the Regional Center for the Arts. The food is tasty and fresh, although the cuisine would certainly not be described as innovative or haute cuisine, but rather good down-home country Italian food. Portions are very generous, and I can rarely finish my plate. The prices are quite reasonable, especially for the location. It can get a bit on the noisy side. The value for the money is excellent. I always leave happy and satisfied--although perhaps not impressed.

We eat out in downtown Walnut Creek at least twice a month. We'd gone to Montecatini many, many years ago and recalled it as incredibly noisy--couldn't have a normal conversation. So we've avoided it all this time. On a whim, I booked there for pre-theater dinner (very convenient to the Lesher Center). Staff was very pleasant, service was well above average and the food was quite good. As it was relatively early, the noise level was not bad. Might be noisier if the place was full, but carpet on the floor and an acoustical ceiling should keep the noise level under control. We'll give it another try.

After a quick research we decided to give Montecatini in Walnut Creek a try. True to the many reviews - can't judge this 'book' by its covers. The pasta specials we ordered were delicious and portions reasonably large. I loved the delicious bread basket paired with wonderful extra virgin olive oil. Only wish there was a bottle of good balsamic vinegar to go with it. I highly recommend this restaurant for delicious food, great ambiance, and most of all an attentive staff.

Is one of my favorite Italian restaurant in the east bay. Been here for almost 20 years and came less since we have kids because they don't have kids menu (kids price). So it get expensive when we have to order our 8 years old from regular menu and he can't finish. Otherwise the food is great. Will come back with no kids.

We had our first experience here and we felt the food was excellent, portions were large and were pleasantly surprised they have a happy hour menu even on Saturday! Their salad was very fresh, chicken cooked under a brick was divine and their eggplant Parmesan was as good as I've ever had. I go to italy twice a year and the quest for authentic Italian food is constant! We were happy to find this charming cozy spot with great food and a great vibe! We will go back for sure!

We had not been here for a while. First thing we noticed was we didn't know anyone working except for the bartender and Chef (who is always there). They have cleaned up the inside and it has a nice feeling. The food was good, but notice a slight change in serving size and the prices went up. I had the scampi and it was good, not as good as it use to be. They use smaller shrimp at a higher price (more shrimp). My b/f had the chicken scallopini, it was good. The best is the carpaccio and the Tiramasu! The absolute best!

I've been coming here since 1990, and it's still as good as ever. Great Italian just like you like with a great selaction of regular menu items with daily specials that just keep you coming back. My only complaint is the noise level when they are full. While I understand they are shooting for an authentic Italian feel to the place, they need to put in some acoustic tile. The new owners Chef Ermes Paulin, and his wife Teresa Cheung have added some great touches to the place, such as printing the specials and, of course, adding Open Table reservations. There is also now a happy hour! This is my favorite Italian place in the entire bay area, due to it's plain simplicity and great people.
