"Went for easter brunch this last sunday-it was the worste brunch I have ever been to. They told me over the phone that they were having. "An amazing easter brunch" only to find out it is the same brunch they serve every Sunday. We ordered the boring food , had to ask for our toast 3 times. I should mention too that the sausage was undercooked and when we asked if they would put cheese on our eggs they said "we don't know how to do that"-really? The only good thing I can say about the brunch is that they had good coffee."

"Always an enjoyable dining experience esp. when you have a couple of excellent cocktails at the bar - one of the Twin Cities best! The couple we dined with had never been to "The Monte"and have been Twin City residents for many years - mostly suburbs! They rarely go "downtown" for entertainment or dining. Too bad! Valet parking a few feet from the entrance is a big plus."

"Excellent fresh Walleye and salmon dishes. Pesto pasta was full of cilantro and fresh garlic. Service took forever and seemed they were missing a staff member. Our waitress was great and apologized for the service, but it she was just stretched too thin. THis place would be amazing if they hired one more person."

"Wonderful old bar and restaurant with food prepared to please. The Szechwan Green Beans, liver, and fish offering were great. The inside is cozy and when it's warm, the outside dining area is delightful."

"Thoroughly enjoyed Monte countless times over twenty years, but this evening was awful. The server (never seen him before) was inept, did not listen. We ordered drinks up, he brought in tumblers on ice; we ordered a bottle of wine, he brought two glases; returned with a bottle and struggled desperately to open it, poured some into each of our glasses and bolted away, did not ask us to take an initial taste; he NEVER returned to ask how our food was; we ordered a Grand Marnier w dessert, he brought it only after we prodded him since our dessert had been delivered 10 mins before. The normally luscious walleye was very overbreaded/dry- the woman who asked us re food told US to tell the kitchen not to overbread/cook next time - really? Sad."

"I go to your restaurant fairly frequently and my experience is wonderful every time. I love the ambiance, although I prefer the more quiet atmosphere in the back room. It's just a bit too loud for me in the main dining area. It was not available on Saturday night when we were there."
