Others on my group had the French toast (good), the salmon Benedict (good) and their two course brunch option with the shrimp cocktail (also good).
They were very attentive with refilling drinks and bringing requested items including delicious jam.
I am glad we tried it out and plan to go again when we have more company in town!4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMWe've been to Montclair BistroWe've been to Montclair Bistro twice, for brunch and for dinner. We were pleased with both experiences. Overall the food we've had has been excellent.
The service when we were there for brunch was not good. They were under-staffed and everything took a very long time. However, they were nice about it, bringing free "appetizers" of fruit bowls and such while we waited, which was especially thoughtful since we were there with a 3-year old. For dinner, however, the service was perfect.
The ambiance is nice, but could use some updating. And many of the patrons were old (though we were also there for an early, 6:30pm dinner).

The host situated is in cozy corner, which almost seem like private room. We truly enjoyed ourselves and food was delectable. My husband and I have dined there regularly for at least 5 years. The wait staff are attentive and friendly. The restaurant is elegant but relaxed. The chef, Henry, offers a very nice menu with impeccably prepared dishes. We mentioned on our reservation that we had theater tickets. First thing our server, Nina, asked was when do we have to leave? We appreciated her concern for our time schedule. Food was delicious. We each shared. The salmon kabobs were amazing with just a hint of cinnamon. Unusual combo but It worked. The presentation of all the dishes was artfully done. special thanks to our server Nina. We never felt rushed but we made to the theater with time to spare. The food and service were excellent, and they had a full kids menu as well. We all left well-fed and happy.
