A word from Montano's - Roanoke
Philip Montano always dreamed of owning his own delicatessen. In 1969, he opened Chef’s International Gourmet in the Roanoke Valley. His place was the first gourmet specialty shop in the area and it was a tough sell. Montano won customers with quality specialty ingredients on his shelves, a bright smile and a warm nature.

In 1988, the permanent location for Montano’s opened at Townside Festival Mall with 150 seats and a small but well stocked gourmet shop, complete with delicatessen, wine selection and imported beer area.

The restaurant now seats 252 and includes a private banquet room, an outdoor cafe and a 40 foot carved wood and mirrored cocktail bar. Phil Montano still regularly works in the business, which is now run by his son, Marty Montano.

  • Definitely Worth It!

It was my first time to eat there - and it was a second date night. The waitress, Melanie, was exceptional. The food was good and I particularly enjoyed the variety from around the world. I settled on Spanish Paella - which was very authentic. The portion was huge and I took over half of it home with me. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends.

As always, a very good meal and a very nice time. Our waitress Donna always makes us feel special! She was very nice when one in our reservation party showed up an hour late due to a flat tire. Couldn't ask for anything more!

Celebrated my wedding anniversary at Montano's and glad I did. The meal was truly exceptional (wife had scallops over pasta, I had feijoada), and only topped by the desert (tiramisu) which was to die for. To cap a delightful dining experience several of the wait staff extended warm wishes for a happy anniversary as we departed. I don't think we'll be able to dine anywhere else on our anniversary and we'll be sure to return long before that.

I took my parents here for a late dinner on a saturday night, they were overly impressed with the menu and the food. Its expenive, but totally worth it. Our waitress was good, unfortunately our order was put in behind a large groups so we ended up waiting a while for our food, but it was worth the wait! Will definitely be back!

My wife and I are new to Roanoke, and spend weekends exploring new eating establishments. We wanted a place with some live jazz and TVs so we could watch the olympics, so we chose Montanos and we were not disappointed. We made reservations online...quick and easy. It was a busy Saturday night with many people waiting, but we were immediately ushered to our table. I requested a table near the band and TV screens and they had the perfect table ready for us. Wow, what service. Our waitress was clearly slammed, but she still provided excellent service, was very courteous and pleasant. The menu is extensive to say the least, which was wonderful. Entrees came out quickly, pours of wine were generous and the ambiance was quite pleasant. Well done!

I have read many negative reviews, but I just don't get it. The staff is friendly, know their menu from drinks to dessert - what morecould you ask for? Any time we are in the Roanoke area, my husband and I make it a point to stop for early or late lunch. The menu offers many choices and the beer selection ..... WOW! Pricing is average. Love this place!!
