  • "Another quality dinner. We love our experiences at this amazing little restaurant. The chef continues to amaze us with the preparation and the quality produced. Consistent and always inventive with their featured dishes. We just Love it, superior to any fine dining in Seattle"

  • "The food was delish but expensive. For a casual neighborhood place I did not expect the price point. Food was very good, portions were huge-- less would have been more."

  • "We always love the experience. I wasn’t going to write another review but when I went to make a reservation I noticed a review stating they liked the food but was expensive. This place produces quality dishes only and if you don’t understand and/or appreciate this aspect of dinning this place is not for you. We don’t like to over pay either but this place is actual inexpensive for they quality produced and my family and friends who dine here all the time understand quality. The owners are true Italian chefs and know their stuff sometimes putting a twist on dishes like, spaghetti and meatball; amazing . Highly recommend it."

  • "Nice, BUT, " Would you like the house wine?" It's about 80 to 90 bucks a bottle. ,!!! OK wine but not just small ok. Or, we would like the bruschetta , we were upsold to the sampler plates at 10 bucks or so more each. And on, and on. Entrees were GOOD, the wild boar was outstanding , spaghetti and meatballs was ? Authentic ? And just OK. Total bill with tip over 300.00 bucks. Interesting experience if wish to try it.."

  • "We loved our experience. We arrived a few minutes early and, although we had to wait, we were given a complimentary glass of wine. The food was excellent and the service even better. We will definitely go back to this neighborhood gem. Although very small, it is intimate and great for a romantic evening. We enjoyed the guitarist."

  • "Excellent food and service. The owner is very attentive and the staff is great. Food has been excellent the four times I've been there. I highly recommend it but it is very small so make a reservation!"

  • "Filet was cooked to perfection , pasta Al-dente and our seafood very fresh. In combination with top notch servers and a charismatic owner makes for the best restaurant in town."

  • "I love the feeling of "dinning at home" when you have a meal at Montalcino Ristorante Italiano. Mama is cooking in the kitchen, your host, her son, making sure your dinner is up to your expectations. We enjoyed the specials, king salmon and the tenderloin with a lobster tail. Even though the tenderloin wasn't quite right, staff made sure to correct to our satisfaction. A very special place for those very special occasions."

  • "Great food from the appetizer thru dessert, and service to match. Already booked our next reservation to go back!"

  • "This was the perfect place for me to treat my kids to their annual birthday lunch; not noisy, good Italian music; pleasant waitress who added to the fun of the occasion, the salmon and the Kobe meatball specials were terrific, the Sangiovese wine was perfect, and Fernando's dessert treat of Tiramisu was icing on the cake, so to speak."

  • "Wonderful, from the moment we entered Montalcino, until we left. We are always personally welcomed, and the service, atmosphere, and, indeed, the food, is always perfect!"

  • "This was our second visit and wowed once again. The quality is amazing , the menu plus their featured dishes are very creative and impressive for we are transplants from the East Coast we don’t impress easy. We had the Kobe Pasta dish, very tender meatballs, pasta cooked perfectly and the Filet Mignon in a wine sauce that was excellent. Finally a restaurant were we could find a true cannoli with a rich cheese filling and nice crispy shell. This place is the best."
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "Service, dinner and wine were all good except that my husband did not like the cannoli and found it too dry with hardly and filling. He only took a bite and did not eat the rest. When they found out that he did not like it, they did not charge us for it. Everything else we ordered was good though and i am sure we will be back there. The menu has a lot to choose from, so I am eager to return to try something else on there."

  • "I moved to the Seattle area in August of 2013 and found out about this gem of a restaurant from a friend. My wife and I have enjoyed this magnificant Italian Restaurant (Best in Seattle) 5 or 6 times since arriving. This is a family owned business with Mom and Son taking these wonderful recipes straight from Italy and have delighted us each time. It's a small place and you need a reservation well in advance but it worth the wait. The service staff is outstanding and only adds to the experience. Can't wait to come back!!!"

  • "Best Italian restaurant around the whole Seattle area in my opinion."

  • "This is my 7th or 8th time dining and I really like the consistency and quality of this restaurant. Quiet and intimate and with the charm that a true Italian family owned restaurant can only provide. The specials are always prepared so well and their Italian vino list is great. I keep coming back because I like the ambiance, the delicious food/specials, vino and attentive servers. It is a small gem so make reservations"

  • "The food, wine and service has been outstanding every time we have been to Montalcino's. The ambiance is quaint and unique it can be a little loud at times with the music. You can't go wrong if you are looking for great Italian food. There is a policy where you can only dine in the restaurant for 1.5 hours. We understand this because the restaurant is so small, although this is not enough time to dine if you have over 2 people in your party, This is an expensive restaurant and worth every penny but we felt rushed as soon as we were seated. We would have liked more time in-between courses. There were 4 of us dining and after our 1.5 hours were up we left and went to another restaurant for additional wine."

  • "I have had the pleasure to live in Florence, Paris, Boston and New York. Have dined at some of the world’s best Italian restaurants, Montalcino is second to none of these. What a find in this small town , we were very pleasantly surprised. The food was world class with their own Italian twist on Kobe beef and Alaskan crab legs; just amazing. The owner was real cool Italian guy and the chef came out and even sang us opera. Iam glad judging from the great reviews that many North Westerners understand and appreciate the authenticity and quality of this restaurant. Definitely unique for this state and definitely our to go place."

  • "We had a wonderful meal, both of our dishes cooked to perfection, and large Italian portion sizes! The service was spot on, appearing at just the right times with the right questions, recommending good wine throughout. Meal presentation was well done. A must!! We'll return for certain!"

  • "Wonderful food, people and just a great place to visit."

  • "We love this place, the food is uniformly good, sometimes spectacular. The house Brunello and Red Table wine are both excellent. Service is great and the place just feels nice. I will say I do not like the new plates/bowls and hope they return to the simple service sets they first used."

  • "I found this gem of a local restaurant when I moved to the area. It has become my favorite! It is even more special when the owner and his parents are present."

  • "Without a doubt we always enjoy our dinners at Montalcino. The specials are varied; the main menu rich in Italian dining culture. Their appetizer is a meal in itself, with the quality of their Italian meats exceptional. The cannoli are to die for!"

  • "Ok - when you see a place has 5 stars you have to wonder if it lives up to the hype....well Montalcino does and what a nice surprise it was. From the live music to the beautiful ambiance and the tasty food; we enjoyed our visit immensely and will be back."

  • "This is a very small-capacity restaurant; make a reservation! They warn you in advance that your table is for 1.5 hours. Also, no outside wine! I'm been here before but I had never tried to bring in my own wine before. We were with another couple who also brought a bottle, and they did allow use to enjoy one ($25 corkage) of those. The reason is that the owner is a member of the Nardone family, a noted Italian producer, who import their wines through their Kent, WA distributor. I get that, and we enjoyed the Poggio Nardone DOCG ($85). The sampler appetizer was had by all 4 of us; 5 items bruschetta to grilled prawns. Two of us had the veal chop; over an inch thick and very tender. Not inexpensive but worth it."

  • "Nice intimate place to have a great authentic Italian dinner. Staff was attentive but not annoying. Great service. Fantastic menu from antipasto to dinner to dessert. Bravo."

  • "You've got to try the red sauce. Like New York. And the veal chop, wow. So unusual to find a place like this on the east side. Haven't had a bad dish."

  • "Great neighborhood restaurant in Issaquah, just a short drive for us. Celebrating my birthday. We ordered the lamb shank special, the seafood pasta special, and the gnocchi w/ the Kobe beef meatball. All were extremely tasty, leftovers taken and consumed promptly at home with rave reviews again! The home-made pasta was especially lovely, tender and flavorful. The lamb was as advertised by the server (and in Open Table reviews) falling off the bone and tasty! mouthwatering. We ordered the tiramisu for dessert, and one expresso. no leftovers with that. We will be back."

  • "I reserved a table for two at Montalcino to celebrate my husband's birthday. We had heard good things about it from friends who'd said that reservations were a must. So I thought this would be the perfect surprise. Neither of us was disappointed with anything. We were seated right away and actually got to choose between two reserved tables. The wait staff were informed, pleasant, and punctual. The food was outstanding and there was so much that we couldn't eat it all. This is definitely a place we will return to."
