  • "We are picky and understand great cuisine and Montalcino has it. We always enjoy our visit to Montalcino and we appreciate how they always seem to step it up a notch even when we think it cant get better. Its true you cant, best restaurant in the state."

  • "Delightful meal. Generous portions. A bit pricey for my wallet. Friendly service. Great neighborhood with lots of attractions nearby."

  • "A hidden gem of a family owned restaurant in Issaquah. Food preparation is exquisite and prepared by "Mama!" Accommodating and attentive service. Reservations a must and given the smallness of the restaurant there is a two hour maximum for seating. But expect to leave in a food coma and with left overs that are just as good the second day as when originally served! Parking a bit of a challenge so allow time to find a parking space."

  • " The delicious food was the best aspect of Montalcino. Excellent Italian fare. The lamb was tender and succulent ; my pasta entree cooked perfectly al dente with a delicious red sauce. Generous-sized servings. This restaurant is the perfect size (small) to feel very cozy and welcoming. Service was prompt and courteous. We especially liked the classical guitarist playing through out, and the music was low enough to allow easy conversation."

  • "My husband and I had been wanting to visit this restaurant for about a year. We decided to go for my birthday and we both agreed that it was one of the best meals we've ever had in a restaurant. The owners greeted us, the service was excellent, the food (we both ate pasta) was mouth-watering. I haven't had pasta that fresh since my grandmother was alive. Thank you for a wonderful evening - we will be back!"

  • "The food is very good. The space is small and they have a window of one and a half hours of table time. We never heard of this but it is a very small place and they try to keep the flow going. We believe you can call them and ask for extra time. If we had room for dessert, we would had gone over by at least 45 minutes. This restaurant would benefit from looking for a larger location. The food is very good, large portions. The service is attentive but the space is tight."

  • "A great little slightly-out-of-the-way-but-not-really Italian spot in downtown Issaquah. My gosh, the food was fantastic! The service and vibe also great. Highly recommended."

  • "We celebrated our 31st anniversary at Montalcino. The food and atmosphere were divine. A few weeks back we dined here with our adult children and I regretted not having the ravioli special because it was so good. Lucky for me, the ravioli special was still on the menu. It was worth the wait. We usually have the cannoli for dessert, which we love, but this time we tried the limoncello gelato. I have a new favorite dessert! We are considering making Montalcino a weekly event."

  • "High demand spot- worth it! The food and ambiance is amazing, never disappoints. We go here for most family reservations. Just make sure to book a reservation early because they are at capacity most nights."

  • "After 39 years of marriage to an Italian, I have learned not to try to replicate my mother-in-law's red sauce, or the sauces my husband's four aunts prepare. However, the Kobe lasagna with "red" sauce was magnificent- meeting our high family standards. I truly appreciated the extra space for our 2 1/2 year old guest who gobbled up the tortellini and mozzarella. You have created a great family atmosphere - for a wonderful pranzo."

  • "Food and Service was outstanding. Music a little too loud but it is a small cozy restaurant. Would recommend it to my friends but it was a bit pricy. No complaints but you can not linger at this place they need to turn the tables. Nice that it is so close to the wine bar Vino Bella so we could listen to music after dinner."

  • "Montalcino really knows service and hospitality. Charming, delightful dinner. And the prices are quite reasonable."

  • "We again enjoyed every aspect of dining at this family run restaurant. This time we enjoyed live Italian-ish accordion music. Very generous salad and bruschetta started the evening. Veal Marsala and Lamb chops were our main course choices, both excellently prepared. Desserts of spumoni and limoncello gelato topped off the evening. We have to dine here more often!"

  • "As always, the food is authentic Italian. The service is impeccable. The ambiance takes one back to memories of Italy with the live musical serenades. I look forward to my travels to Issaquah and a meal in this hidden gem."

  • "We enjoyed our dinner pre-theater and it was a great experience. Mushroom risotto and lobster pasta were excellent along with exceptional dinner salads. Our service was just right and the old time music added to the great atmosphere."

  • "Small local with true Italian flavors. Some of the best Italian food in the region. Moderately expensive but worth it."

  • "The food and ambiance transport you to Italy. The appetizers don't impress but their risotto is incredibly tasty, especially when you combine the four cheese with tomato mushroom, so yummy! I wish some of the dishes were plated a bit differently but this restaurant has a unique flare so when in Rome….The wait staff are also very friendly and eager to provide an enjoyable dining experience."

  • "My wife and two kids went to Montalcino for dinner a few days ago and we really enjoyed it. The menu was varied to suit a variety of tastes and the food was delicious. We took bites of each others' dishes and they were all terrific. So, two days later, we went back so we could try different menu items and they too were delicious. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable, the service was quick and unobtrusive. This will be a regular spot for us for sure."

  • "I felt like I was coming to an old friends house for dinner. it is very small. The host mentioned my name many times, thanked me for coming, food was cooked perfectly and the staff were attentive to all the tables. My veal chop came in a giant bowl, unusual but fun. "

  • "We have a family favorite in the area so it was tough to get everyone to try something new. We love Issaquah so everyone agreed to try this. The space is small so use open table for a reservation.the food was wonderful. I got the boar and it was amazing.it's a little bit on the pricey side but they give you a lot of food to make up for it.so go hungry. And don't leave without trying the tiramisu."

  • "Dinner in this tiny hidden gem was fantastic. Mussels and clam appetizer in broth was perfectly done. Pasta al mare with a paprika cream sauce was a sweet/savory/creamy seafood delight and huge grilled veal chop was outstanding. The house brand Nebbiolo was a full, and fruit forward mouthful. Finished with tart and creamy Limoncello gelato and cannoli to die for. Staff was attentive and helpful. Looking forward to sharing this find with all my food - crazed friends! Call ahead, and bring your wallet. Only issue was that it was a bit noisy when fully seated. Who said there was nothing decent east of Lake Washington?"

  • "Large space, but seating feels intimate. Everyone in my group of 8 was pleased. Only (minor) complaint was a salmon filet dish a bit over-cooked. Wait staff did great, never seemed rushed. $880, included quite a few drinks"

  • "From the food to the attentive friendly staff this is a perfect dinner out with friends or loved ones (you can talk in normal voice tones. .. shouting over the noise not required). Better than traditional Italian this is gourmet Italian perfectly prepared. "

  • "I took my wife out to Montalcino for a belated Mother's Day dinner. Tony the guitarist came over and asked what kind of song we might like to hear. He provided a great musical ambiance for the evening. But most importantly, the food was fabulous! I love to cook Italian food and am not easily pleased, but this was great. We split a prawns and scallops antipasto which was mouth-wateringly delicious, with a great sauce to slurp up with the nicely toasted crostini. We then had the salmon pasta, an incredibly generous portion with as much salmon as pasta, and the mushroom ravioli, also scrumptious. We then ended with the original cannoli, which were THE BEST. I can't say enough good things about this hidden gem in the Quah!"

  • "Don't miss Mama's Lasagna made with Kobe beef. The cheeses in this dish are an incredible choice. Enjoy - warning - it is served piping hot so have a few sips of your drink first."
