Mont BlancAn old fashioned gemI have been going to Mont Blanc for many years. It is an old-fashioned restaurant in the best sense of that term. The food is old style French/Swiss and astonishing delicious. The side dish of rosti which comes wih every entreeis particularly yummy. We had a shrimp appetizer, sole amandine, filet mignon, and meringue glace. Service is welcoming - the proprietor, Maria - is a lovely lady who makes you feel as if you are dining in her home. Prices are very reasonable for this area, making this an excellent place for pre-theatre.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for pre theater dinnerWe went for pre theater dinner and sat in the bar area. Since it was early, it was quiet.
Most people went to sit in the rear dining room which became a bit noisy.
Food was very good and service was attentive.
Good place to go when attending the theater.4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is really a terrificThis is really a terrific restaurant. In the heart of the theatre district I think it is the best in the whole area. Food is very very good and the prices are moderate. Management could not be friendlier. Not only is the food terrific but they also pour a mean martini. If you haven't gone to Mont Blanc go.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThis is gem in the theatreThis is gem in the theatre district. Prices are reasonable and quite a few choices on the prix fixe. The staff and owners are really attentive. This is one of our family favorites. It gives you a cozy feeling and kind of a neighborhood feel4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a great pre-bway mealWe had a great pre-bway meal here, and when we realized our show was at 7 rather than 8 they got our food there, tasty and on-time. We will go back!4/18/2013 12:00:00 AMWe celebrated a friend's birthdayWe celebrated a friend's birthday and it was so very special at Mont Blanc! Thank you to the whole staff. It was perfect!4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMAt-home friendlyMont Blanc was recommended by a friend, we tried it, return often. Their food is the best, service is at-home friendly. The owner and his wife take special care of their customers.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMA lovely mealNear our Broadway theater, we ran into a group of friends here who also considered this their secret find in Midtown Manhattan. Everything was excellent including the service. The Wiener Schnitzel was superb. The desserts were a fine finish to a lovely meal.4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMJoan Hackensack NJWe loved the relaxed feeling in the back room. Very quaint and relaxing. The brunch was delicious and very reasonable. The service was excellent and so friendly. We did not feel rushed and they were very accomodating. I will definitely recommend to friends as we eat out in the city often. Looking forward to going again for dinner. Great way to spend time for brunch.4/14/2013 12:00:00 AMOld world style restaurantOld world style restaurant which was a nice change of pace for NY. The $ 32 price fixed menu was great. Excellent Lentil soup, salad, Veal Meatball with carrots and potatoes with apple strudel and coffee for dessert. Our table of six received great service and would recommend Mont Blanc....4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant is rather smallThe restaurant is rather small but great menu and efficient service. Will go again and recommend it.4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMMont Blanc is a very good,Mont Blanc is a very good, kinda old fashioned restaurant of a sort that used to be called "continental". As everyone reports, Maria is attentive and charming; the food is well-prepared, familiar but not at all tired, with a big menu, lots of choices, lots of ways to organize your dinner. Service was brisk but we weren't hurried either. I think its fortunes are tied to the Theater crowd, which is fine, it's a bit busier earlier, though perhaps there's a late contingent also... We enjoyed ourselves and we were a party of several different tastes/preferences.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMExtremely accomodating staff;Extremely accomodating staff; cheese fondue delicious; good value4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMaria's Mont Blanc is a gem!We had a 110% positive experience at Maria's Mont Blanc.
My husband and I travelled from California to New York and chose this restaurant based upon location, food, proximity to our hotel and broadway shows and found a gem!
Thank you so much Mont Blanc for a wonderful memory.4/3/2013 12:00:00 AMMain problem. We had an OpenMain problem. We had an Open Table res. made days in advance. There was no table waiting when we arrived on time at 6PM and we had to wait one-half hour to be seated. We had theatre that evening. WE always book for 6PM so we made theatre with no problem. But the wait was not what we had bargained for. HOWEVER, lovely restaurant, fine menu choices and excellent, continental, food.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMWe used to come to this spotWe used to come to this spot back when it was Luxia's and were sad to see it go, but are happy to report that we are quite pleased with what succeeded it. In addition to having a few favorite menu items from Luxia's the fondue was quite a lot of fun (in addition to being excellent) and everything else we had was wonderful too. The little garden in the back is a great place to sit outside in warmer weather and the service is excellent. We will return.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMVery good fondue and good,Very good fondue and good, albeit unconventional, raclette in a great neighborhood institution.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe really enjoyed the MontWe really enjoyed the Mont Blanc, was able to park right next store in small outdoor lot. Had a nice meal before taking a short walk to the theater. We'll definitely be back to try some other menu choices..3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Mont Blanc afterWe went to Mont Blanc after a show and was pleasantly suprised at the food. We oe ordered from the prix fix menu. The lentil soup was hearty and our meals were very tasteful. The portions were just right, not to be overstuffed and not have dessert...peach melba and black cherry sundae with tea and coffee was a perfect night. Service was great and the owner came and spoke with us briefly, she was a delightful women, who you knew loved what she did....3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious traditional Swiss-French.Old-school Swiss-French. I really enjoyed it. Traditional dishes - delicious. Not pretentious. Prices reasonable - dinner special very reasonable. Will return.3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMMont Blanc was absolutelyMont Blanc was absolutely amazing! I was visiting NYC for the weekend and found it on Opentable while searching for someplace nice, but relatively cheap to go to for my boyfriend's birthday. I couldn't have made a better choice! The food was amazing and always arrived in good time. And they provided my boyfriend with a little cake and ice cream with a candle singing him happy birthday, which I didn't expect at such a small place. I look forward to going back the next time I am in the city!3/14/2013 12:00:00 AMFound this little gem in theFound this little gem in the theatre district-- you walk in to an older, local bar scene and then the typical small NYC restaurant with tables close that if you have nothing to talk about with whom you are with, you can just listen into the conversations around you--- food was great, had the cheese fondue and the chocolate one for dessert, a fun date-3/9/2013 12:00:00 AMFood is the reason to go here.Food is the reason to go here. In the heart of the theatre district it is hard to find better food. We started with a really great onion soup followed by veal bratwurst and veal cordon bleu. The bratwurst and the veal cb both came with snow peas( not sure they were snow peas) which were great but for me the highlight of the evening was the portion of roesti potatoes which was given to be shared. They were the best I've ever had and I travel regularly between the US and Switzerland so I've sampled them many times. Absolutely the best. Worth a visit just for the roesti. Forgot to mention they also served a very nice salad before the main course. The portions here are very generous and the prices reasonable. Best theatre restaurant I went to.3/4/2013 12:00:00 AM
