Diner Reviews
  • "Surprise in the heart of the Theater District. Restaurant has solid food and a distinctly neighborhood feel; not a tourist trap at all. Prices very reasonable for NYC."

  • "We've been here several times and we've been happy each time. We love the swiss cheese quiche for an appetizer and there are so many choices for a main course. Only thing we ever had an "issue" with was when we brought the kids and my 8 yr old nephew commented on the "inappropriate" paintings on the walls. I don't recommend sitting outside unless you like the smell of incense...right next door."

  • "The hostess is welcoming, the food is yummy and the atmosphere charming. This was our second visit at lunch time. The first at dinner time meal was equally wonderful."

  • "Old establishment. Dark decor in the front of the restaurant near the bar where we were seated. Fixed priced brunch menu. My wife and I enjoyed our meal. I had their classic French toast and she had an omelet. I would recommend this place if you are in the neighborhood."

  • "warm, friendly staff, excellent service and good food...plus it is in the theater district."

  • "Very home style and warm eating environment. Make sure to call in to confirm the reservation so you will not be late for the show..."

  • "Fantastic service, from the owner, to the waiter. My wife was caught in traffic, they held our table. When she arrived, they asked us if we were going to a show, when we said yes, they pointed to the items on the menu that would be done quick enough for us to make our show. The food was delicious, but I'd never experienced warmer or friendlier service. A real gem."

  • "All the elements of our dinner were excellent. Four different dinners served with style and precision. We sampled each others food and were all pleased with each item. The bread is among the best in New York. The butter is delicious and soft. The veal is marvelous. The mussels are tender and tasty. We shared a chocolate fondue for dessert and that too was wonderful."

  • "The food was fine, tasty, but not on my top 10 list. The plating was nice, the service was good. But with so many similar fondue places in the city, I don't think I will return to this one. It is close to theater district and I was happy to walk here after attending a show."

  • "Lovely quiet restaurant with great service and fine food."

  • "If you are going to the theater and are looking for a restaurant with consistently good food and friendly service this is the place for you. It is small and crowded so get there early and a reservation is a must. Prices are fair and the owners are welcoming. My spouse and I have been there many times and have never been disappointed. Don't miss the escargot!"

  • "don't be scared away by the long menu or the 4 course prix-fix. we had a delicious omelette which came with a salad and bread and a potato tart. it wasn't expensive and was good. the ambience leaves much to be desired. the restaurant needs a makeover."

  • "Bride & Groom attended " Once " & dined @ Mont Blanc for first time. Gratifying, satisfying, delicious meals @ moderate $$$$ were had by both. Bride & Groom state; " We will be back! " Incidently; Bride & Groom have been married for 48+ years."

  • "Good, classic European fare in an old-world atmosphere. The wine list includes some unusual Swiss whites and reds. The gamay by the glass is lovely!"

  • "Maria was the most welcoming, accommodating hostess. The ambiance was great for a bite after a show. Try the raclette...you won't be disappointed."

  • "very hospitable, warm and friendly environment. Clean, quiet, great european food menu, everything done to perfection."

  • "Older, well-established theatre district restaurant. Specialty is Swiss, including fondue, but a number of dishes (wiener schnitzel) appear to be Viennese. Quality of food is consistently good. Many dishes are not seen that often around New York (Viennese dumplings). Service is efficient and profesional and prices are not bad ($30 - $50 a person, depending on how many drinks, appetizers and desserts you go for. Decor is not so new and is somewhat dowdy."

  • "A group of 5 of us had an excellent dinner before going to the theatre. Portions here are very generous so we shared several appetizers. They also have a very good price fixe menu. Well worth a visit"

  • "Great place for an after show bite. The desserts were great & the service was great too."

  • "Place and hostess are charming and attentive and generous. Server also very pleasant and accommodating. Very old world. We went specifically for the raclette. It was plentiful and disappointing."

  • "What a wonderful hidden gem, so glad we found it on Open Table. We wanted a special meal for our anniversary and we weren't disappointed. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcome from the moment you walk through the door. Try the veal cordon blue, you won't be disappointed. The potato pancake was a nice treat too. We can't wait to have another special occasion to go back and try more delicious food."

  • "I have lived in NYC for 35 years. I have been looking for a restaurant that serves high quality Swiss Food. Alas I have found one. We went to the movies and arrived late for our reservation and they seated us without any problems. The service was excellent! The wait staff was quite attentive. The wine list was excellent. The fondue was delicious and so was the weisswurst and rosti best I have had since my last visit to Switzerland. I highly recommend this restaurant and intend to return real soon."

  • "Foods was average. Pork chops were good. Potatoes and spinach were not. Salad was eh. Dessert was eh. Not a place for foodies. Staff was excellent. Not at all noisy."

  • "great schnitzel....pork chops....if you're craving god home cooking of German food - this place is great. Cozy and warm...service very friendly and greeted by the owner of the place. Will be back over and over I'm sure."

  • "We celebrated our mother's 70th birthday with a party of 11 (5 adults and 6 children). We had a great time, food was good, and the service excellent. The fondues were a big hit with everybody. We would certainly come back!"

  • "We arrived early for our reservation on the Sat after Valentine's Day but when i told them it was a Valentine's dinner, they hurried to find us a better table than the one they had reserved for us -- they got us a lovely corner table in the back room, quiet and pleasant. The food was wonderful. I cannot understand why we never ate hear before. Lovely pleasant service -- such a nice change from the snarkiness of the trendier places. Loved it. Would be a nice choice pre-theatre except that i would probably eat too much!"

  • "We hadn't been to Mont Blanc for a while and decided to return for Valentine's Day. It can be a little crowded before 8 pm, as it is in the theatre district, but then it clears out and is a good place for a quiet, intimate dinner with old world charm. The waiter we had was helpful and attentive, the food delicious and plentiful. It isn't trendy at all, but warm and comfortable with a European flair. The owners are on site and many diners seem to be regulars. We had a lovely evening, and will return again -- sooner the next time!"

  • "My husband & I decided to celebrate St. Valentine's Day dinner at Mont Blanc. We have dined here many times. Very good French/Swiss comfort food. The veal that they serve is always tender and very reasonably priced. All the entrees include salad, vegetable & potato. The also serve cheese or meat fondue. After a very tasty veal cordon bleu & marsala, we enjoyed a Swiss apple tart with vanilla ice cream! Yummy! Owner, Maria and staff are always accommodating!"

  • "We chose Mont Blanc because it was located around the corner from the theater. We were very pleasantly surprised by the décor and menu. My husband and both started with the herring appetizer which was very nice. My husband had veal cordon bleu and I had the salmon with capers. Both were excellently prepared. The wine list was good and not overpriced; service was attentive although we were only two of four diners. We skipped dessert as we had to get to our show I would definitely go back."

  • "If you love vienerschnitzel (or jagerschnitzel for that matter) THIS is The place!! Maria is a most gracious hostess, and it's a gathering place for locals (always a good indicator of the quality of the food) Be sure to try the Viennese Dumplings. Don't be put off by the unassuming exterior-this is the real deal! A MUST for lovers of Austrian cuisine."

  • "The Swiss menu is interesting and a little different from other pre-theatre establishments. Good quality and service. Food is hot and arrives quickly."
