Dined at Monster Chef with two other people. It was a last minute decision. Made reservations earlier in the day with no problem. On arrival we were greeted and seated promptly. The initial service was quick. Admittedly we were slow in our initial orders making the service seem slow. We were there for 2.5 hours; ate a wide variety of the menu items, were never hassled experienced reduction in quality or service for being there a long time. Tea or water refills were timely. Desert portion was smaller than expected but was tasty. This is not a 5 star big city restaurant but then it is not located in a big city nor expensive/exclusive location. We live locally and expect to be back their specialty items.

I took my wife here for our anniversary even though I don't eat seafood. I tried sushi before and didn't care for it but my wife loves it. I was surprised to find out I enjoyed the food. I suppose that's what my wife means when she says there's a difference between sushi and good sushi. The food was good and the service was excellent! I would come back again.

Love this place! This time we went for our bestie's birthday. The sushi was fresh and the rolls were delicious. We also had some excellent tasting pork belly, lobster ceviche, beef sukiyaki, gyoza. We had a table facing the ocean, the sun was setting, the passion fruit dessert was light and sweet. It was the best birthday dinner ever! Check this place out, you won't regret it!

what a great addition to the restaurants on the coast! its down the street from us, all you can eat, without the buffet. You order off of an all you can eat menu and they cook it to order. None of the items that came to the table disappointed. We had beef sukiyaki, gyoza, tons of fresh nigiri sushi, pork tonkatsu, etc. I was stuffed and happy. The service was great. We will definitely be back!

The food was good and served in a timely manner. I ordered the tuna shashimi and it was pretty much uneatable, though. It had tough sinews running through it, that were not good, so i won't order that again. The rest of the food was pretty good and we would try it again. It is a bit on the pricey, side, however.

This was my second visit to Monster Chef, and it was just as lovely as the first. The menu is huge, and the quality of all of the dishes was very high. It is clear that they share a commitment to excellent service and a restaurant experience unlike any other nearby.

Confusing concept and name. Monster Chef is all you can eat but not a "buffet" as advertised. Presentation of dishes were amazing but the food quality did NOT match. Sashimi was low grade. Service was horrendously slow. It took an hour to get rolls and it wasn't even busy. Staff is young and very green. It's obvious that they're severely lacking in training. Not recommend!

My family was excited to see a sushi restraunt open in El Granada. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. The service was slow and the sushi wax not very good.

Extremely thoughtful to have dual outdoor patio heaters in front of restaurant entrance throughout the night in the windy cold mist of Half Moon Bay. We felt welcomed to be greeted in Japanese. Their interior design felt cozy and staff was attentive. Our family felt "Monster Chef" uniquely stand out from all the other Japanese restaurants we been to- high quality "All You Can Eat" made to order at one fixed price! From appetizers to desserts was "EXPLICIT"!!!

This is a wonderful Japanese restaurant with a twist; you can try all the nuances of this popular cuisine in one sitting. It's a great idea and I hope it will work out well for Mr. Li and his team of enthusiastic helpers. The quality of food was outstanding and the portions perfect for trying multiple selections. Service was alittleslow and sporadic but with only 10 days under their belt it is not a black mark. Can'twait for threm to get their liquor license and enjoy an ice cold Kirin or Asahi with this great food. BTW, in deference to the lack of drinkschoice, they offer a sizeable discount on the food.

The greeting staff was very nice when I originally walked in to check out the restrauant. I will start by saying that I understand new restaurants have growing pains. After about 1 hour and 40 minutes with extremely slow service, and after we were advised there was no sushi rice and we would have to wait a little longer, we sadly left. The rules, don't order too much at once. If you leave more than 50%, you will be charged another 50%. The table limit is 2 hours. They should put the rules on the outside so people would know what to expect. It was not the waitperson's fault for the service. When we asked to speak to the manager...no one came? On the bright side, the fish we did get was very fresh.
