  • "My husband I are huge foodies and usually frequent the restaurants in downtown Frederick for special occasions. For our anniversary we decided to try Monocacy Crossing, where we have never been before. Consequently, it was a great decision. Food was excellent, wine selection superb, and service wonderful. We will definitely return!"

  • "This place never dissappoints! This is our favorite restaurant in Frederick- it's hard to stay away from. They cook an excellent steak and, if you can pull yourself away from them, everything else on the menu is well cooked and delicious. Desserts are good also- if you are able to leave room. Of course, I can't leave out that they mix up some spectacular dirty vodka martinis!"

  • "This was our first time here for dinner at the Monocasy Crossing, From the outside, the restaurant looks more like someones home on the side of route 355, but when you enter the main entrance the first room looks more like a neighborhood bar. But after being seated at our table, the atmosphere change to a more inviting restaurant. Service was attentive but not annoying. The Steaks we ordered was not only perfectly cooked. Then there was desert, we had the coconut pound cake and all we can say was Oh My God. This chef has made perfection for desert."

  • "I give Monocacy Crossing 5 stars, I LOVE this restaurant - their cheese tray appetizer is enough to share for 4 people! The food never disapoints, the menu changes just enough to keep it interesting - outdoor dining when it warms up is delightful! Try the coconut pound cake - even if you don't like coconut!!"

  • "Would go back again for the outside sitting...the restaurant is in a quiet setting. The food is good but nothing to rave about."

  • "Service was friendly and attentive. Food was great alla round. The group experienced salmon, pork tenderloin and the shrimp dishes. All excellent and reasonably priced."

  • "Great cuisine, service, atmosphere, outdoor dinning (we're doing it next time!), nice view, nice location. Prices are unbelievable for portion size and quality you get; how do they make money? It just doesn't get any better than this, unless you pay twice the price."

  • "I have eaten at Monocacy Crossing many times... each has been a really nice experience. The food is always great and the menu changes so that I have been able to try different wonderful things. The service is always efficient and pleasant. This was no different. It's always a good bet to go here and enjoy a lovely meal in a nice place."

  • "Only mad we didn't discover this place sooner!! We absolutely loved every bite of every food and cannot wait to go back. Duck nachos, lamb shank, and the hanger steak special were all to die for. No room for dessert!"

  • "Went for lunch but found out that they don't serve lunch on Saturday, so I was a little disappointed at first. That quickly diminished when our food came. We had the sirloin salad, grilled Caesar salad and the crab/corn fritters instead. It was AWESOME !! So pleasantly surprised. The food was outstanding and I keep thinking about the fritters – I want more. Our server was great and very knowledgeable about the menu and helpful in our choices. We will 100% go back. Keep in mind that it doesn’t look like much from the outside, but don’t be fooled. The inside is quaint and very nice. We ate outside since the weather was so nice and can imagine that dining outside during a warm summer night would be delightful. Thanks so much !"

  • "This is my husband's and my favorite restuarant. I had one of their specials w/rockfish, the best creamed spinach and potato croquettes, i've everbeen had. Sounds a little old fashioned but trust me, it was not. It was fresh and light with the right touch of decadence anf texture. The fish was cooked perfectly, slight crispness with moist, flaky flesh. I'm getting hungry writing about it! My husband had their incredibly tender pork tenderloin. It's served with the most delectable au gratin potatoes ever. 5 or 6 layers of tender yumminess. potatoes. We also had the turtle cake. It's a small, moist, dark chocolate cake topped with a pecan, coconut, sauce.they over warmed it a bit, but it was still delicious and we ate the whole thing."

  • "Love this restaurant. Has been a few months since going there. Our server was the greatest! Made some adjustment to our selections - due to allergies. We asked for a slow dinner, so we could catch up with friends and she was wonderful. As always this is a hidden gem that I wish could be a secret. Can not wait for the temps to warm up, so I can sit outside."

  • "When I first moved to the area, I asked the big question "Where is there a nice upscale place to take family for a great dinner?" I was told that The Monocacy Crossing must be my first choice, but I had to have the Coconut Pound cake. It was the best decision I made. Now it is a staple. Just remember to always call and make a reservation because it's that good."

  • "We had a very nice meal, tuna steak for one entrée and grilled shrimp for the other. I felt the plates could have been a little warmer as it was my feeling that the two meals, though terrifically prepared, cooled too fast after presentation. But all-n-all, we'll go back again at least once or twice more before 2014 is over."

  • "We recently visited Monocacy Crossing for two birthdays in the past two weeks. Everyone enjoyed their meals-the crab cakes and filet were favorites. We also enjoyed their desserts, especially the coconut pound cake (a must!) and the apple crisp. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and plan to return again in the future."

  • "Bar was packed when we arrived. Bartender was very accomodating to us by getting us cocktail prior to being seated for dinner. Dinner was very good. Kathy was our server and she did very good job. Fish Special (Cobia) was excellent. Wife had pork entree. It was decent but way to salty. Wine was very good for price paid."

  • "My husband and I are very frequent visitors to Monocacy Crossing. We lunch there once a week and have been there for dinner with friends/family many times over the years. Service is always excellent. Food, always delicious. My hubby and I were there for Valentine's Day dinner this year and, as always, stellar service and excellent food. Hard to beat the service, quality, and prices. Next time you are considering a chain restaurant for lunch or dinner, scratch those plans immediately and head straight to Monocacy Crossing. You will not regret it."

  • "My husband and I celebrated Valentine's Day (and my birthday) at Monocacy Crossing. We had received a gift card at Christmas and had been waiting for a special occasion to use it. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and wines. It was pricey - dishes ranged from $18 - $28 but everything we had was delicious. I highly recommend it for a very special occasion."

  • "I always enjoy going to Monocacy Crossing with folks who have driven by it many times but never have eaten there. What looks like an ordinary local beanery, turns out to be a first class dining experience. All four meals ordered were expertly prepared and delicious. My only regret was we had theater tickets and couldn't stay for the home made desserts."

  • "Terrific dining experience all around, fit for foodies and anyone else who like fine american, cozy dinning. Duck nachos were a great starter, the stuffed flounder the pork tenderloins were spot on as was the awesome coconut pound cake to wrap it all up. Can't wait til it warms up and we can dine on the patio."

  • "This is pricier than what we're used to but it was for a special occasion. Thankfully the food was good and so was the service. Good sized portions so you don't get too worked up about the price ;)"

  • "Don't be fooled by the outside appearance of this restaurant. Rustically cozy inside. Consistent, quality food and excellent service. Ample and interesting variety of menu items. The whiskey duck nachos appetizer is so satisfying with tortilla chips laden with shredded duck, a black bean corn salsa, tomatoes, peppers, onions, cheese and sour cream ...perfect to share. The pork tenderloin with a sage-cider sauce is terrific, as are the tasty fresh-cut fries. For dessert, try the yummy, dense, rich coconut pound cake. Lunch is a better value than dinner. Staff is accommodating to substitutions for food allergies if able. I travel about 90 minutes to come here multiple times a year and have never been disappointed with a meal."

  • "I hesitate to give Monocacy Crossing a rave review for fear that it would become overrun! This is one of the best restaurants I have been to. The service is outstanding and the food is fabulous. If you are in the Frederick area you have to go! Order the Lamb Shanks. You will not be disappointed."

  • "We had dinner as a group of 4 at this restaurant. The food was very good and the service was excellent. However, the room we were in had a light that get switching between dim and bright, and was very distracting. The restaurant also has a nice outside area, especially for drinks, in the warmer months but we could not use it in January."

  • "We visited Monocacy Crossing a few years back, but being off the beaten path, it wasn't on our frequent visit list. When our reservations fell through at another restaurant thanks to a water main break, OpenTable helped us identify Monocacy Crossing as having availability. It was an excellent choice and everything about the visit reinforced our view of this place as a place for great food and casual atmosphere for non-stuffy or pretentious visiting with friends. Within our group we had the brisket and fish specials, as well as their regular menu steak. Additionally, we had the calamari & crab fritter appetizers. Both were excellent, and recommendable, though the fritters were unique. The entree's were cooked & presented perfectly. Just GO!"

  • "The service was prompt and helpful without being obtrusive. The menu had a variety of dishes in all categories and our party of four each found several dishes to try. The lamb shank was a generous portion and cooked to perfection; the pork tenderloin had an excellent sauce, the gnocchi with lamb and veal sauce was quite tasty and the beef tips were even better than expected. Our table shared the generous portion of beef Tartare, which was an excellent beginning to a delightful meal. One small, but significant, detail is that all meals were hot when served and remained hot throughout the meal. A member of our party, a Culininary Institute of America graduate was well pleased with the restaurant's ambiance and food."

  • "This restaurant was a pleasant surprise! It was tucked away off the road, not a fancy exterior but quaint. Once inside, the atmosphere and ambiance was beautiful! Our waitress/server was friendly and patient with us as we struggled to make a decision. We cannot say enough about the food! We went with the specials and we were glad we did!"
