Monocacy CrossingWonderful RestaurantI really love this place. The food is wonderful and the staff great. I will be back5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was terrific. InteriorThe food was terrific. Interior of dining rooms was a bit tired. Outdoor seating looked very inviting, but too cold on Sunday.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMothers DayWe were here to celebrate Mothers Day. By the children's crying at another table, at least one other group was doing the same. Unfortunately, this child could not be silenced (not a reflection on the restaurant!). This is not a restaurant I would dud "kid friendly" so why bring young children!?! however, the food was wonderful. I had a spinach salad beautifully dressed. My husband had the strip steak while I had the hanger steak. Both were prepared to our liking and had excellent flavor. We split the raspberry cheesecake for dessert. Since this was not our first visit, the crying children was unexpected. It deterred from this visit, but the consistency of good food will bring us back.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful Mother's DayWe went for a lovely Mother's Day early dinner. We sat outside and enjoyed a peaceful meal. Our server was very knowledgable and friendly. It is a great tradition on Mother's Day that I look forward to continuing!!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMMy daughter and I took myMy daughter and I took my wife there for a Mother's Day brunch. We have dined there before probably 4-5 times but not for a few years. It is a lovely restaurant and we always enjoy our dining experience. This was the first time I was not that happy with my meal. I had the NY strip and it was not a very good cut of meat. Somewhat fatty and also tough. My daughter had a different type of steak and my wife had the portobello mushroom and they both were very happy with their food. So I just chalk that up (my steak) to a one time thing. No big deal. We will certainly return.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAll around good place ..Hope it doesn't ever get discovered by the crowds ... fantastic lunch place to get wonderful food and sit all afternoon and visit with your friends! Wheelchair friendly, and separate checks, just what us old folks love!!!!4/30/2013 12:00:00 AMMy husband and I enjoyed ourMy husband and I enjoyed our Sunday night dinner at Monocacy Crossing very much. Half price on select wines was an added bonus. Food is very imaginitive and cooked very well. We started with the popular duck nachos, a large portion of tender shredded duck, beans, corn, salsa and cheese over a huge plate of chips. Entrees were the pork tenderloin with scalloped potatoes, and the swordwish - a special that night for $28. Both entrees excellent and would order both again. The fish was moist and not overcooked. Service was fine. We had a table in the back room which was quiet with tables nicely spread out.4/28/2013 12:00:00 AMCharming and wonderful littleCharming and wonderful little restaurant! We will definitely eat at this restaurant again.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat vegetarian selectionsGreat vegetarian selections the night that we went.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMFirst time at this restaurant.First time at this restaurant. I had the swordfish special and my date had the New York Strip. We closed the restaurant down and the staff couldn't have been more gracious. If you've driven past this gem over and over wondering about all the cars in the lot - there IS a reason, stop in and have a great experience!4/25/2013 12:00:00 AMMonocacy Crossing is stillMonocacy Crossing is still our favorite fine dining restaurant in the area. The menu has changed. One of my favorites such as the wonderful apple-cider pork and scalloped potatos is still there, but tried the gnocchi with a meaty bolognese sauce. It was hearty, flavorful, with a good mix of gnocchi and lots of meat in the sauce. It was a bit salty for someone on a no salt diet. The African cod with Jasmine rice and snow peas, special of the day, was good. The chocolate turtle cake's warmed toasted coconut with pecans and carmel was wonderfully good. The house chardonney was very good. The service is always excellent, and my water glass was kept filled. Wonderful evening.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMThe service and food hereThe service and food here are excellent! The whiskey duck nachos are an absolute must! The entrees are inventive and well-prepared-my wife thoroughly enjoyed her shrimp and grits, and my venison flank steak (a special of that evening) was prepared very rare as I had asked for. We took home a piece of their chocolate cake with caramelized pecans-another treat! Our server was extremely pleasant and efficient, which enhances the experience considerably.
One minor complaint-the restaurant is rather small, so some of the tables are rather close together. The night we were there, the two couples at the table on the other side of the railing from ours were celebrating their anniversaries, and, as such, it was rather noisy.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat place! We have been to MC before and were just as happy this time as last. We took friends out to eat. We each had salads which were all fresh and flavorful. I had the filet mignon with sweet potato and snow peas. The meat was perfectly cooked and everything was tasty. My fellow diners had salmon, jambalaya and venison. Very good all around. Our waitress was very nice and knowledgeable. For dessert we split the chocolate turtle cake and the peanut butter and jelly cake. No one was disappointed. If they re-do the interior (it kind of needs it), I think it might become too hard to get a reservation. Great service and great food! We will be back.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a wonderful time atWe had a wonderful time at Monocacy Crossing. The food was delicious. The drinks from the bar were very good, a good bartender. The waitress was a gem. So gracious and obliging. The atmosphere perfect for celebrating a birthday. I would come back again and again. I will recommend MC to everyone.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMA great Place for Everyone! We had a wonderful time. The food was varied and plentiful. The variety of choices was from fish and shrimp to pork, chicken, and beef (veggie too!) Many of the dishes started normal but got bumped up with a sauce or side. This was good for the foodie, the grandparents, and the adventurous one at the table. The waitress was wonderful. She was patient, explained everything clearly, and was responsive to everyone at the table. We chose an early time due to some of our diners with hearing issues. The quiet room we had was great for conversation! This was a great experience! We will go back.4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMMy wife and I love this place. My wife and I love this place. It is located about 3 miles outside Frederick but it feels like you're in the middle of nowhere (in a good way). Our favorite appetizer is the Whiskey Duck Nachos. Very unique and delicious. Our entrees are always very good.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMOverall it was a good experience.Overall it was a good experience. Will definitely come back at some point.3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMA great little restaurantA great little restaurant that we stumbled upon while looking at the Monocacy Creek Battleground. We liked it so much, we ate there on our way to and back from Washington,D.C. The pork tenderloin, lamb shank and Maryland crab chowder were mouth watering!3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMI love this restaurant andI love this restaurant and It remains one of my favorites. Each visit to Monocacy Crossing has been a true dining experience. Food and Service is always consistant.3/16/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Lunch for GroupsI have come to depend on Monocacy Crossing as my ace in the hole for any group lunches. The site is easy to get to (don't have to deal with the downtown Frederick lunchtime traffic and parking situation), the group dining room is spacious and quiet, the food is excellent, the service was quite amenable to diners' requests and there is something for everyone on the menu.
I highly recommend Monocacy Crossing for group lunches.3/5/2013 12:00:00 AMGem of a place!Ahh, what can I say... a true gem. Love this place! They have an excellent chef and sous chef who create excellent seasonal menus and specials. All the staff, bar and wait are excellent. The wait staff are always friendly and make great recommendations.
We've ridden in on motorcycles, and see other walk in dressed up for a function, everyone is treated the same. It's a warm, comfortable place to get great, 5 star food.
If you are a foodie, this is the place. As much as I'd like to keep this place a secret, I have to share.3/3/2013 12:00:00 AMBest restaurant aroundMonocacy Crossing is our favorite restaurant, and we go often. The spinich bacon salad can be shared on two plates. My husband normally orders fish but the filet is also good. I love the apple-cider sage pork and scalloped potatoes, and the cheese grits with BBQ shrimp (for a heavier meal) is also good. Deserts are always lovely. I like the pound cake. We never have had a bad meal, it is always excellent! Service is consistently very good to excellent.2/9/2013 12:00:00 AM
