The "short wait" was a liitle too long. Then we ordered: interestingly 2 soups were promptly served but the other 2 at our table didn't get their salads AND no one got a pre-dinner cocktail. As the 2 soups cooled as we awaited salads, we were relieved to suddenly get our pre-dinner drinks & the two salads. A rough start to the meal. BUT from that point on, the service was fine, the entrees arrived simultaneously, & most importantly, the food was delicious! (as was the soup that cooled off a bit by the time we could begin eating). The dessert (banana cream pie) was superb! My husband had a steak with a guava (I think) steak sauce which was fabulous and I had the fish of the day -cooked to perfection, tasted very fresh and had a very good combination of flavors. The serving sizes were just right, not too big and each bite was full of flavor. Even the sides (flavored rice and slaw) were good. I have to say, that the fish at Monkeypod was better than Mama's FIsh House. I'm sorry, I enjoyed it more.

Four if us got a reservation on a Sunday night pretty quickly via open table. Waitress was good but little distracted. Very busy and had lots of tables to serve. This place was packed all night. The food was excellent. Truffle Parmesan fries are not to be missed! We had a burger, wild mushroom truffle pizza and fish tacos. All three were incredibly tasty. The pies looked amazing! We will return again on this trip for dinner. May try to get in around sunset and see if there is a view. We had the bulgogi tacos, Caesar salad, truffle fries, hamburger, and pepper/cheese poppers. The tacos were tasty - a little one texture consistency. The Caesar, fries and burger were great. The pepper poppers were ok. Overall the food and service were great. They were pretty with a pineapple puff on top :) We went for happy hour 9:00 pm, which was great, half off pizza and pumpkin ravioli, both were delicious. Awesome food, great service, sat outside with beautiful ocean views. The Monkeypod Mai Tai is the only Mai Tai I ever have, you have to try it at least once. All the food is great, most if not all coming from locals farms and waters. Live music. It's loud so not a "romantic" spot but defnitely a fun, vibrant scene. The bar is great - we decided to have a cocktail before we sat down for dinner. We are not really into sweet drinks, but our server said the Mai Tai was not to be missed. It was AMAZING - with lilikoi foam. The dinner menu and wine lists were wonderful, - everything was delicious - the poke tacos, fish, burgers, dry mein... (if you are not a vegetarian ask for it with the pork!) were all fabulous. It is on the pricer side, but worth every penny! I recommend trying some of their specialized cocktails, they are delicious! Everything was spot on, but the food is really what set it apart. Before we even got there we checked out the menu and knew it was going to be hard to decide. The menu is pretty diverse and hits a lot of different price points with pizza, fish and chips on the low end and then more gourmet fish dishes on the higher end, which is really nice. The ambiance at Monkeypod is really fun and casual, while we were there they had live music. Our waiter (Kevin, I believe) was great - he was professional, had great recommendations. The meal we had was absolutely the best of our trip. I had the mac crusted fish special and my husband had the ahi.
